Thank you for an amazing video. But I'd like to go out on a limb here and say that elective and attachment are different and not interchangeable. Electives are taken while in med school and attachments are strictly observational and for graduate doctors.
hello doctor....very helpful video indeed....I have a query though! What do you think about the academy's accommodation? Please give your opinion on it & what would be your advice for us ? To book our own accommodation or to book the academy's? Please share the pros and cons and your advice. Thanks in advance.
Great question. It's quite variable depending on whether you are coming with a partner, your financial situation, sociability, willingness to travel, and availability of accommodation elsewhere. Generally, academy accommodation is quite basic but overcharged due to its closeness to the academy. If you can find accommodation close to the academy with high-speed WiFi at the right price point, then that would be ideal. However, if you are the type of person that would prefer living with other candidates, then perhaps academy accommodation would be right for you. Another option is going for a house share close to the academy. These are rental properties that are independent of the academy but are often rented out as plab 2 accommodation due to their closeness to academies.
Doctor can you please tell us about the timeline of booking ALS course if I want to attend that? When should I apply and when should I attend the ALS exam ? Please help.
@KP-ly1uk interesting question. I'd say plan well in advance then. You'd have to check on the resuscouncil uk website when is an ALS course available. Usually they are booked out for 6-9months in advance. But could check to see if there are any spaces available.
The time, dedication and finances required to pass a single exam in your medical journey which will NOT guarantee you a job, If spent in any other top high earning field in the current economy, is enough to make you excel in that field...

It is indeed frustrating. But hang in there. We have to believe it will be worth it one day.
