I always tell everybody that this album is why I became a metal head. After many years of metal, this tuning is the the only tuning that makes sense or is heavy enough
I noticed a thing. When you’re listening one your favourite song it begins to be boring after many times you heard it. But when you listen to this song in other key it sounds like a new awesome song for your brain. Can’t explain
I can only listen to Metallica in Eb or lower. Got bored of E standard. Opens up a whole new world imo, that's why I started uploading all these albums
I also hear things I’ve never heard, little idiosyncrasies in the guitars or it’s just clearer what notes they’re playing. Trying to learn the songs on guitar you pay attention to these things.
0:00 - Blackened 6:42 - ...And Justice for All 16:27 - Eye of the Beholder 22:53 - One 30:20 - The Shortest Straw 36:55 - Harvester of Sorrow 42:40 - The Frayed Ends of Sanity 50:23 - To Live Is to Die 1:00:11 - Dyers Eve
Especially the breakdown in Blackened around 2:30! One must not forget the influence 80's Metallica had on death metal. That whole part sounds like Dismember!
I gotta say this sounds heavier in C standard. This version has a Swedish death metal sort of sound imo. In fact this album sounds pretty heavy regardless of what tuning it is in.
@@putridabomination this doesn't sound anything like Swedish death metal and I wouldn't say is heavy at all due to the lack of bass. It's more thrashy than heavy
@@sammarvelous5030 well naturally, the lack of bass is the worst thing about the album. I think that the pitch shifting kind of makes the guitar tone sound like Swedish dm but only a little bit, it's not a perfect match far from. Thrash can be heavy though, a lot of the riffs on this albums are imo.
Well, this is quite something. Maybe it’s my headphones, but it sounds like the subtle parts from the original are brought up into focus in this tuning.
It's a real shame the vocals sound wrong as musically, this sounds amazing. From that legendary intro to blackened sounding like the badass control is cranked to 11, to One having real depth... Love it
I remember the batteries running out in my Walkman while listening to AJFA on tape many years ago. This doesn’t sound all that different. Btw yes I’m old lol

Newsted was a epic addition to the band when no one else could fill the shoes of Cliff. To bad the band didn't honor the kick ass bass lines from Jason. Still a great riff album from the Metallica dudes🤟
it wouldnt sound right if the guitar bass and vocals had different pitch shifts applied to each one. i mean could you imagine this with hetfields normal vocals
Musically I love it. Don't like the vocals. It doesn't sound natural like the original (obviously) or D tuning one. It's like if the devil from Pick of Destiny was singing haha. I'm kinda curious now what this would sound like with the original singing instead.
This is how metallica sounded for me when I was a child)
oooooooo yeaaa
Slightly scratchy and a low battery, near death walkman
Blackened still sounds this heavy to me tbh
I know lol.

Because it's "new"
Exactly. I have been tuning all my old favorites down and changing the EQ's to clear up and amplify the sound. It cuts hard!

@@orionsodyssey6928 Drop C or Standard C?
Tuned this low, it almost sounds like a Swedish buzzsaw guitar tone. In a good way of course since Swedish death metal is amazing. \m/

@@deniskuzel6246 Also any melodic parts sound like In Flames solely because of being tuned to C.
my first thought was Entombed!
One in C tuning… I can’t tell how it feels because of how good it is, it makes the song even more sad. Good job
Holy shit. I just listened to the d tuning of this and thought it was so bad ass but this is on a level of it's own. So fucking EPIC!!!!!

Do it one octave lower. That's gonna be good
D is the happy medium before james sounds like a demon! really like hearing these different Keys though, easier to learn in different tunings
Blackened starts to sound like early death metal. Sickkk.
Like hearing the album for the first time. So damn heavy, love it.
This channel is a masterpiece for these tuning videos. Love C standard
Thank you. Plenty more on the way, unless they get blocked
@@mrthefloof yeah C is a really classical tuning, especially when the rootnote of a piano is a C for the most part
Heavier. Darker. Bass and lower frequencies appear more audible .
Good work.⭐
Frayed end of sanity sounds so evil! I love it!
jesus, these riffs got so heavy in C
Just when you think Eye of the Beholder couldn't get more heavy
I didn't think this album could get better, but here we are. 😅
If you go in settings and change your play speed bpm a few cranks faster omfg dude this sounds just SIC® 🤘😝🤘

it sounds more somber
its awesome
Sounds like James got shot in the neck with a tranquilizer dart like on Old School
This speaks directly to my heart!!
Wow man... This IS better than the original AND the D tuning you posted. Hey good job, bud... I'm subbed. I like your style.
This is epic. Thanks!
If you want to try some up-tuning, try the Melvins, their albums "Bullhead" and "Stoner Witch" have some good candidates.
yeah i agree... the old slower stuff like ozma and gluey porch treatments might sound rad pitched up.
D tuning was the sweet spot for me
Everyone has theirs! Mine is Eb
the best tuning for this album
This sounds like a cover band decided to re-record AJFA. Very cool.
that intro to Frayed ends of sanity though holy shit
way heavier in C

Love this album to death but god the melodies sound super awesome in c just reminds me of classic Swedish melodeath

me gusta, siempre esta bueno escuchar algo desde otro punto
en este caso afinacion
I turned this on 1.5x speed and wow it goes hard. 2x speed sounds goofy tho lol
Rob Zombie on vocals
I approve #zakkane
This enables Guitarists that have guitars in Drop C to play to Metallica.
That's cool.
St. Justice
Blackened by At the Gates
Drop F lets GOOOOOOO
ill do you one better. Drop 3 octaves and watch heads explode
Damn, AJFA chorus sounds fucking killer here

Would sound great with HM-2 Pedal
yep, i really like playing the shortest straw with an HM-2.
... or MXR fullbore metal pedal.
B tuning next?
This just goes to show, deep down, this album was another monster entirely. My favorite album.
Now do B tuning
A request: Vildhjarta's Måsstaden in Standard Tuning
I really wanna hear A tuning, But at that point it'd be so low i feel you might just have to do instrumental only

Oh man great idea but WHY 360p quality. This album deserves better than that.
A tuning :D
someone just needs to cover the songs with these tunings, the audio is shifting on the vid.
Does it count as C tuning if you just slapped a pitch shift on everything

Can you do the reverse? Down tuned bands like slipknot etc tuned up to E standard would be hilarious 😂
Can you do Deftones - Diamond Eyes in B tuning?
can you do ajfa in the low E tuning? like down a whole octave
