    In this video, I explain how you can legally return to Canada without paying $2000+ for a three-night stay in a quarantine hotel. As of Feb. 22, 2021, new rules were implemented, forcing Canadians flying into Canada to book a government-approved hotel through a 1-800 number, which was nearly impossible to get through to anyone.

    Do they make you take a test when you get to the boarder even if you showef them your negative proof? And if yes can you not decline testing based on your rights? They might fine you correct?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At all major crossings, they will ask you to take a test at the border and then you can leave. Yes you can decline it and it's possible you will get a ticket, but honestly, it wasn't a big deal took about a minute and I left with my friend.
      The important part is you don't have to pay for a hotel.

    Thank you Trevor! I was wondering if you had to quarantine when you got to the U.S? and what transportation you could use? like a Bus or Uber?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only did a quarantine when I went to Hawaii from Vancouver (you can skip it with a test now). When I left Hawaii there is no quarantine because I was already in the US. I can’t speak on the rules for those coming from outside the US because I think it’s different depending on the state.
      I caught a Lyft it was $35 and I was at the border it was very easy. I think you could catch a bus or taxi pretty affordably form any airport near the border.

    thank you so so much for this video. My husband wants to come in to Canada but he is still US Citizen. I wonder if they have same procedure in Montana Border as this border is closer to me.

    • @TrevorSomerville

    Hello trevor! I appreciate you for making this, it answered so many questions, but apparently since yesterday, a friend from Vancouver cant go to the border to pick me up since there's a new restriction within the provinces so he told me he can't pick me up.
    Now i was wondering if its possible to use a bus or taxi/uber/lyft to go to the apartment i'll be staying in?
    Many thanks!

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there is some new zoning restrictions coming into place but I think your friend is just paranoid. And yes you can just call a taxi or get an Uber, nobody at the land border cares what you do as long as you quarantine.

    Thanks for the info. I am on my way back to Canuckistan in a few days. 2 day drive and wIll have negative test, Covid vaccine, and all documents. I’m still stressed about. It's normal to be stressed I was also, but just remember you're a citizen/PR holder I assume and you belong here. Once you get to that booth you will be let in that's not even a question.
      As for the hotel, I've heard there are designated government hotels that are separate from the ones mentioned for booking. This is likely where you end up if you don't pay, but I don't even want to get into my thoughts on that stuff.

    Hey Trevor, thanks for the video. I’m also planning on crossing the peach arch border by foot like you…but kind of confused exactly where to walk through. Do I just need to ask the taxi driver to drop me off at the park? Are there any signs at the park that says where pedestrian can get through? I just want to know where I’m going and not get confused…because as you know…the border guys can give you some hard times just for crossing the border, and I don’t want to get into any sort of trouble. Thanks a lot

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a piece of cake. Ask the taxi to drop you off at the park. Walk to the end of the parking lot and there is a path that continues on straight and you go down a slight hill that brings you to the road, you can't miss it.
      On the left side of the road, there is a side walk for people crossing on foot you just walk that for maybe half a km or less and you've arrived. There is a special foot crossing door at the end of the sidewalk and they will call you in when they're ready.
      It can seem intimidating when you haven't done it before but it's really not a big deal at all. Lots of people go to that park just to hang out and see family, so don't feel like you're breaking any rules.

      Hey Harry. I checked online trying to find one that could be dropped off in Vancouver at YVR from Bellingham and I also looked for a shuttle or driver and I couldn't find anything for cross border online. (Call them to be sure).
