Fantastic man. I hadn't used this technique before. I'm so used to doing all the pigment mixing with alcohol I didn't even think about the implications of just using water. Those are some good looking icons you have there. I'm glad they are getting some use.
Outstanding video. Makes clear the usage of water versus alcohol, and the brushing technique as a followup to smooth and blend the pigment, while removing the excess powder. Clips such as this I email to myself with a subject line indicating the predominate technique, as part of my online modeling library. Thanks.
I like the omni 4000. I got mine with a hose for 75$. I got a compressor of amazon. It was a master airbrush set. If you want to spend more 125$ iwata hp cs
Hey Ichiban, could you do tutorial on using varnish? How to know which to use (gloss, satin, Matt). What to thin it with, consistency, dry time. My Matt varnish works fine but I'm having trouble with the gloss. Thinning it the same way as the Matt but it goes on bumpy, which makes dry brushing and washing no good. Thanks man! My bases look bomber thanks to you. Thx
I use Mr hobby Matt varnish but when fixing pigments you should be careful into not shooting too much varnish on them and also holding the spray can far away from the model as to let the chemical and aerosols get out before the varnish hits the model.
I mixed pigments with vallejo brown wash for rust effects, All ok till i sprayed Testors dull coat on it. Parts of it ok but other parts have gone a funny colour. Do you guys know why ??
really like this tutorial and gives the right look I've been wanting for my black Templars who are fighting on an arid tau world. Problem though is that I've bases the majority of the army. you think it could still work to go back and apply the wash over the previously based and varnished models?
