Your observation that "I am holding a cellphone and doing cellphone things" resonates alot. I often feel like I’m underutilising an incredible photographic tool whose value might only be truly recognised in hindsight. To address this, I’m experimenting with three approaches (though I haven’t tested them yet): [1] Getting a camera grip from Fjorden to resolve the ergonomic issues. [2] Setting up a dedicated "photography focus mode" to simplify the phone’s functionality when I’m intentionally out for photography. [3] Investing in Moment lenses and, more importantly, CPL, VND, and bloom filters to add a touch of 'real camera magic' to iPhone photography. I hope these efforts pay off-I love my Fuji X100F too, but the iPhone offers so much more!

You could set up a Focus mode for photography to get rid of all the additional noise/notifications that you would usually get on your iphone.

You want an honest review about the camera control? From an actual person with no reviewers bullshit. I’ve been using the camera control and loving it every single damn day since i got the phone, it’s a lil bit uncomfortable ONLY when you’re using it in landscape, but every time i need to use landscape mode i be having enough time and flexibility to take the picture i’m trying to take which makes the camera control NOT really uncomfortable (it would’ve been if i need to take pictures fast and quick in landscape mode but it’s never the case). I always use it in portrait mode and it’s super comfortable super easy super cool and i’m loving it everyday and anyone who says otherwise just want views. I never ever ever had a single “miss click” or having the camera app open by mistake camera control clicks, and NO i didn’t change settings to “double click” its just default single click and i never had a single miss click. The photographic styles are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING when you understand how they work. And both the camera control and the photographic styles are super easy to get used to and understand. It actually took me more time to get used to the action button lmao (i upgraded from a 14 pro). Battery? I wake up at 9pm and i be using my phone INTENSELY from 10am to 3pm then 5pm to 9pm and i end up with more than 25% at 10pm, the phone can definitely last an entire day no matter how intense you use it, My old 14 pro would never last me to even 6pm. And when i say “intense” i mean my 14 pro used to end up heating up so so much and dim the screen and the refresh rate goes from 120 to 60/30 thats how intense i use my phones for work. The 16 pro has never did that so far, it has been an absolute beast. For Apple intelligence i’ll only mention type to siri and ChatGPT integration that i been using the most, multiple times per day. It has been great, still has room to grow but so far it helps a lot i find myself using it everyday. And the clean up thing is super fast and convenient. Thats it the rest of the features i barely use. THATS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. yes even from 14 pro I’m definitely seeing how big of an upgrade this phone is to me. Specially battery and performance i can definitely see the difference. And the camera as well, definitely worth it.
