- Hi and welcome to our channel, for our first video I’ll be doing a talk through my year spent with the 2021 CLA. This is an AMG line premium plus model, I have included what’s good and what’s not so good too for anyone interested in purchasing this car themselves.

@@pedro_ferreirinha The price bump from an A class to a CLA is around £12,000 so not always worth it just to have the coupe look. Other than the body shape and independent rear suspension the cars are exactly the same. 😊
@@everythinginbetween4440 The differences are in how the car is set up, levels of refinement and which styling you prefer. The CLA is easily the best handling compact model in my opinion - the car is 5cm wider than the A-Class so cornering is improved. The steering feels a tiny bit more direct to my senses and the CLA is very keen to turn into sharp corners. The other difference is within the cabin - if not in the design but in the refinement. The A-Class is a well refined place to be but the CLA is even quieter at high speeds from my experience. The A-Class hatchback and saloon have more headroom for rear passengers than the CLA Coupe but the CLA has a slightly wider cabin overall. So, and by far, the cars are not "exactly the same"! But great choise with your A class, I hope you enjoy it! Cheers
@@pedro_ferreirinha I hate all coupe vehicles because of how the windows work. In the UK it’s just a pain in winter when you are trying to rush to work and the door won’t open or it won’t close fully because of ice

Do you have a rattle under the steering column? I have in mine and Mercedes said it’s a regular problem with the CLA
Hello, thanks for the video. We have a CLA 250 premium plus incoming, am I right in thinking augmented navigation is also standard?
Yes on premium plus you'll have the augmented reality on the sat nav, it's a pretty cool feature but once you start using your phone it becomes a pointless feature.
Where did you get the spoiler from?
Does it have augmented reality navigation??
He one 1 year later .what should you advise one buyers this year? Leave options out or choice it or did you buy add ons for your car that you like?
Great vid! Wondering if you have had any issues with the aftermarket spoiler.. is it steady at high speeds etc? Thinking of getting one after taking delivery but don't want it to fall off on the M1!
If you buy the official Mercedes spoiler you wont have an issue, The main worry is making sure you fit it straight because the glue is so strong if you make a mistake you are not getting a second chance to reattach. I tested the spoiler on track with speeds of around 138 mph and plenty of washes later it never moved.

On the fence about either just getting Premium or Premium Plus. Do you find the sunroof and fancier lights to be worth the extra cash? Not much warm weather in lovely West Yorkshire
Originally from Shipley myself and I'm one of those people that has the sunroof open in winter (when the sun's out of course) since opting for a sunroof a few years back on a vehicle I have never had a vehicle again since without the option as its just so nice to have it even if you don't have it open even just to be able to have the sky above you is a must in this forever depressing climate we live in these days.
@@everythinginbetween4440 after weighing up the cost I decided on just the premium. Would of loved the sun roof but couldn’t justify the price. Now for a long wait until the car gets built and delivered.
@@bradleyeaston231 I agree the prices shoot up on the options on Mercedes vehicles, either way premium is a good bit of kit and you'll love the car. 😁
Is uk very bumpy or is it just the car. And does it have air suspention? Great video, just bougt the 250e 2022 model :D
As most people in the UK would agree our roads are poorly managed, we pay hefty road tax and yet 1000's of people make claims to the council due to road damage to the vehicles. Its all about budgets and some roads I even avoid even though my journey would be 20 mins quicker but if it stops my vehicle being damaged that's exactly what people are doing. Appreciate you watching the video, thank you.
How do you replace N/S inner rear light
hi. What sort of sound system does yours have? and what's the quality like? afaict, its mentioned as mid range sound system in MB site but i am not sure the quality difference between these and a good Burmester or harman kardon sound systems. cheers.
The speakers are higher than a car without premium plus but not the same as the burmester, it has the same amount of speakers and tweeters and still has the amplifier and sub in the boot. I found the sound spot on compared to the low spec system in other cars, yes it won't beat the highs and lows of the premium bermester but I thought it was pretty good. Issue is I would have opted for the best sound system but here in the UK it wasn't even an option.
@@everythinginbetween4440 Thanks. yes, from uk too and suprised that sound system upgrade isn't even an option. Seem a few other owners do a custom fit of like Bose or other sound system but from others videos I seen the quality of the normal one is good too. cheers.
Hey man! Love the video. I’m torn between ordering the 180 prem plus or the 250 prem plus, only white available in 250 though and I want mountain grey. Is the 180 powerful enough would you say? 1.3L is making me cautious. Thanks
Thanks for the question I never once thought the cla 180 was a slouch it actually surprised me often. With that said it all depends on what car you're coming from, while it's quick enough for most situations it's definitely no race car. I have the 3008 hybrid which I also have a video on my channel of, this has 300 horses in total and definitely different when you put the foot down. It's a case of do you need to get to 62mph faster than around 8 seconds if so then the 180 isn't for you.
yo bro I got a question for you, is the 250 prem plus that you're wanting to get also an amg engine? like is it an AMG or just possess the feature of an AMG but the system in itself isn't really an AMG? ive never owned a Mercedes and was also wanting to get one soon and I like the 250 premium plus but wondering if its an AMG
@@papinikkyvlogs1451 No the 25 is not an AMG it only comes with the body styling. If you want a proper amg look at the CLA 35 or CLA 45.
I have a friend of my and he said about the 180 ( ofcourse you could chiptune it to 163 hp) he said when you have people in the back its a bit slow. With 2 people in it is oke . I ordered the 200 im hoping it can be pushed with tuning a bit higher . I have driven the e200 ( 199 hp) and that was good ♡
@@sunrise7236 To be fair racechip is what I use and has made the car more than enough for the 180. It's no slouch anyways.
How do u get that sunroof? Like not all the same models have that roof? What do you search for that?
Only premium plus models have the sunroof, you can get a premium package too but only the premium plus has the panoramic glass roof.
Hi, how do you feel about the suspension of this car, is it stiff or soft? Nice vídeo!
If you live in the uk the only trims you can buy are AMG line kit versions of this car and I won’t lie but it’s a very firm ride and any bumps or potholes you’ll definitely feel it.
Does it come with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay? (If so, is it wireless?) Many thanks - great vid! :)
Hi thanks for the question, it does come with both options but unfortunately no wireless feature. This is a very big gripe considering the car had wireless charging yet have to plug it in to use the phones features. 🤦🏻♂️

Iv just got this exact CLA 180 with premium plus interior package delivered 3 days ago. Love it. It's also in denim color. Iv just ordered the Black Boot Slip as well. Did you side mirrors come in black or you modified that? Did you modify the car on the exterior?
All the chrome was wrapped on the exterior, just makes the car look more personal. 👌
He i have a qustion does you car has the inside engine sound true the speakers ?
Yes majority of modern cars now have a dedicated speaker in the car that generates fake car noise or uses a microphone from the exhaust itself. Personally I'm not a fan. Some cars can ha e thos speaker removed.

do you know if the 250 prem plus is an AMG? im new to the Mercedes company and was wanting to get me the 250 prem plus but can't help to know if its also an AMG or not. I don't know if they even make them into AMGs
Unfortunately not the proper AMG cars would be name CLA35 or CLA45 for the quickest AMG models. However like my car in the video you can get the car with what's called AMG Line which gives you specific AMG bodykit parts from the AMG cars. Might be named something else in other countries but it's AMG Line here in the UK. Hope that helps and thanks for the question.

I find it strange that no one in the US cla forums is talking or complaining about the removal of ambient lights in some areas of the new CLA . I'm pretty sure such a change would upset many fans of the car and yet no one seems to care here. Which begs the question: do you think the removal of this feature is only for UK cars?
I believe the whole removal has been down to chip shortages, every manufacturer have had to make serious changes and some even changing the digital dash for analog dials again. It’s a serious world issue now I’ve had another car on order now which was built 4 weeks ago but has been sat in a compound somewhere waiting an amplifier.
Which model/year do they have less ambient lighting on? Please and thank you as I am buying one this fall
Where did you get the front badge colour changed
I had some of the chrome wrapped. Search for your local car wrapping service cost me about £100 to do the whole chrome around the car.
How\where did you get the rear spoiler from? My CLA prem plus didn’t get one
Hello, I bought the spoiler from eBay it’s the official Mercedes OEM one so be aware it’s not cheap at £300 then you have to have it sprayed whatever colour you need it at for an extra cost as it only comes primed. Thanks for the question if you need anymore help give me a shout. 🙌🏻

@@everythinginbetween4440 cheers again! Mountain Grey showed the lines on the car better than the digital white for me, good shout on your demin blue, i wasnt brave enough th get the colour haha, but the black pan roof with the mountain grey looked stealthy, spoiler will add nicely to it

They're 18's and I definitely wouldn't want to go bigger. Maybe need less size 😅

@@sunrise7236 Yes its the AMG Line spec and it's terrible on the UK roads and trying to go up a floor at shopping centre car parks is a no no as the car is way too low.

How's the reliability of this car after this long now? Is it maintenance heavy? I'm hearing quite mixed opinions on the internet and people are just hating it for being a FWD Mercedes. I'm considering a used 2020 model (CLA 200) from Germany as my first car, just concerned whether its maintenance will burn a hole in my savings.

What kind of MPG was you getting back?
In eco mode I was getting about 42ish mpg and if you put it into sport about 33mpg suppose it depends how you like to drive. Anywhere in the 40s for normal driving but on a country lane blitz you get low 30s. Hope this helps 🙂

I got the official one if you sear h Google for official c118 spoiler it should bring something up for you.
What sort of mpg you getting on a decent motorway journey at 70mph?
Thank you for the question, if I put the car into eco mode on the motorway I get between 48 and 54 mpg, on a country road in sport mode I get between 38 and 40 mpg. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions please let me know. 🙂
Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at the shooting break, plug in. So, know this will be slightly heavier. But just concerned about mpg as im coming from an x1 which I can get 60-65 mpg on long journeys, which i tend to do each day approx 100-200 miles, generally motorway conditions
@@mattholt8811 With the hybrid you’ll definitely get more miles, use normal drive for the motorway and switch to full electric once you get off for the remainder of the journey. I have a new countryman on order and it’s around the same as the X1 2.0litre variant and will get about 38mpg so the Mercedes should be an amazing difference for you. I’ve driven one big hybrid and as long as you use the electric only mode for as many of the city driving you’ll save a lot of mpg. 🙂

Hey Mate, how much did the car cost you?
When I got the car in 2020 New it was £36,000 I'm not too sure if its gone up or down since due to covid and shortages.
How’s the fuel efficiency?
The fuel efficiency on the 1.3 is actually really good I was getting around 45 to 55 mpg.
Is this suitable for a 6'4 tall driver ?
Yes, the seat has plenty of adjustment so leg room isn’t an issue. Just be aware that if you’re over 6 foot nobody’s going to be able to be a passenger behind you whatsoever.

I know I’m late but if you still have the car is it possible to create a video going through all the features the premium plus has as not many videos on TH-cam actually do this
Seems like I am the only one with a fully loaded CLA that is not an AMG. I seen some AMG's and the only thing that looks better is the back side because of the exhaust pipes.
The car in the video is a fully loaded CLA and isn't an amg. It's just an AMG kit that comes on the normal car.

@sunrise Wasn't available as an option in this country sadly. Premium plus was everything and that's all that came with the car.
Anyone know lead times on getting a new CLA delivered right now?
My dealership is saying around 4-6 months wait from new factory build.
I ordered a CLA250e shooting Brake as a new comp car in April......my estimated delivery date is April....2022...
@@badvock71 I've also order one (none shooting brake) 1 month ago, estimated delivery April 2022... but it hasn't even been assigned a built slot yet
@@jonathanclyde4725 It may be that the production lines have increased as more chips become available but I wouldn't hold my breath. I work in IT and whilst supply is starting to get back to pre pandemic levels slowly, one thing I am seeing is that QA of the equipment has taken a nosedive in attempts to improve supply. I suspect Car manufacturers may be having the same issues. Fingers crossed for both of us for April ;)
@@badvock71 Unfortunately semi conductor shortage is a big worldwide issue still and will continue for the foreseeable future. I believe hyundai are the only company not struggling as they stockpiled a fair amount of the chips.
