Great memories! I was the safety and Security manager for all of the Nurnberg Area Exchange facilities when this video was shot.

My mom ran the deli in the Commissary across the street from the PX during this time.

DANG, I got my first froot loops in that PX ! My mum's friend was an army nurse and took us there. German grocery stores didn't have many cereal options back then :D and after we'd go to KFC. I learned my first English words from her two daughters too :)

My husband was stationed at WO Darby Kaserne from 1986-1989. We lived off post in Fuerth on Schrieberstrasse above Tengelman's grocery store. This brings back many fond memories of the early days of our marriage and my first time leaving and living outside the United States.

Got to see my old room window at Merrell and the field where I pole vaulted and threw the hammer while in the Army. Great memories for sure.

Oh wow, this brings back so many memories. We lived off post (actually in another town) but my dad worked at the PX from 1971 to 1993 until they closed down. We did 90% of our shopping there and at Warner Barracks in Bamberg and sometimes at Ferris Barracks in Erlangen. I pretty much spent my teen years in those US army video rental stores in Nuernberg always on the lookout for new releases haha. I really miss the old snack bar in the main PX building before they turned it into a fast food kind of place. They used to serve food buffet style. That's where I had my first ever biscuits and gravy. Anyway, thanks for the ride down memory lane. Great video.

Your dad probably knows my Mom then. She ran the Bavarian Shop on the 3 floor of the PX for many years during that time. Later she had the deli section of the Commissary up until they moved in '93.

@@wi9tim I'm pretty sure he did know your mom. My dad passed away in 2016. He was very well known at the PX. His name was Forrest and he had grey hair. I'm sure your Mom remembers him. I do remember the Bavarian Shop but I don't think I ever bought anything there. They built a brand new addition which became the new PX behind the main building in the late 1980s. I was there when KFC across the street had their grand opening, and I think the new Commissary was built in 1990 or 1991.

I am guessing that was early in the morning before it opened. Made that video so long ago, I can't really remember.
