    Hi, I saw someone on the Audiworld forum using a Faital 3FE22 8 ohm speaker for the dashboard tweeter in a B9, and the same applies to the B8, and it seems to be installed completely in the original position, what do you think about this?

    Hi Been into car hifi for years ,best system i had was kicker in an e30 bm, so thought the audi was a breeze ,no problem with bass Rockford fosgate 12 2 ohm dual cone running 1 ohm, my problem was the front ,and your video explains alot regarding the vcds ,will change this as i have a nice pair of focal components going in,i chose focal as i have had them before and they don need huge amounts of power to drive them,these will be driven by the stock amp non ,B/o also the screen is crap so gone for a 10.2 android

      I think in a similar situation as you. I have the stock amp with 3G MMI plus. Starting with the 3 dash speakers as no idea how to do sub woofer in the sportback. Was going to do for Dayton RS-75s but they got sold out so quickly. Is focal a good option for the dash?

      I tried the Dayton option to replace the center speaker. Wanted to make a video but I don’t think it’s worth it. Sounds about the same if not worse tbh. Could be different for the tweeters though.
      As for the sub in the Sportback, there are some good premade enclosures for 10” subs that fit into the right side storage compartment in the trunk.

      @@maximusoptimusTECHreally? A lot of people are losing their sh*t over those Daytons. Would have gotten them but they sold out so left the grills off lol until they come back. Bought a 12 inch Alpine woofer, now looking for LOC and amp. But not sure where the factory amp is?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I’ve read those forum posts as well. My theory is that the Daytons improve the stock system a lot. But if you make the coding trick and unlock the full potential/power the Daytons are overwhelmed. At least for the center channel, as I said I haven’t tried the Dayton as a tweeter so that might be a totally different story. Ended up disconnecting the center altogether, which sounded the best with my Alpine frontsystem.
      As for the factory amp, it’s integrated into the MMI system. So the speaker wires go to the control box in the left side of the trunk. The pinout for the quadlock connector can be found online. I recommend buy in a quadlock extension cable so you don’t need to cut into the original Audi harness.

    Hello can you tell me how you added Bluetooth on your audi I have Bluetooth but off of the mmi adapter and it sounds like crap. I was wondering how you place the Bluetooth on the back of your car. I have a 2013 Audi A5 and want to add it to mine

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a different kind of adapter. I have a video on how I works as well as how to install it in German on my channel. It basically emulates a CD changer so this mod only works if you DON’T already have one:
      Audi A5 Bluetooth Streaming nachrüsten (MMI3G)

      Thank you and what do you recommend as the best adapter for audi Bluetooth for an audi a5 2013 (mmi system is concert)

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a very good question. I tested several adapters now and everyone has its pros and cons. The adapter for in the back seems like the perfect solution but over time it gets some annoying interruptions. A simple A2DP Adapter for aux has the best sound quality and most stable connection but doesn’t show the title and also can’t skip using the Audi buttons, the CarPlay Interface gives you Wireless CarPlay and a stable connection but has worse sound quality. If you just have the concert, you might even consider replacing the whole unit with the Alpine Style System, or an RSNAV (if you want to spend the money…) otherwise choose one of the adapters I’ve mentioned.

    Have the same car with B&O. I don't get any sound from 3 speakers: Sub and from door L+R 16,5cm. I've tried all speakers with diagnostics, from these 3 still no sound. Any ideas? Amplifier shows no error code on diagnostics. Thanks.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t heard of that problem before, maybe check the connections/cables running from the amplifier to the speakers (are all connections in place, does an electrical signal pass through…) if you get a signal near a speaker try a different speaker. But to me it sounds like a problem with your amplifier, especially with the processing of the low end signals, you should probably visit an Audi professional.

    Have you always had "Subwoofer" adjustment in the MMI? My '11 S5 doesn't have this option.
    Do you know if it can be enabled by VAGCOM?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve always had it. It’s not available for every sound system and unfortunately you can’t code it. The basic sound system doesn’t have a subwoofer so the setting is not available, but I for sure know that the Audi Sound System on MMI3G has it and facelift B&Os don’t have it.

    How does this sound system compare to the optional bang & olufsen sound system in the A5? I have a b8 S5 with the bang & olufsen sound system and was wondering if I can get any more sound out of them. Would you say this upgrade you did is better in terms of audio quality?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I said in the video the sound is noticeably better than the Bang & Olufsen I had in my old A5 (B8.5 Coupé). I have with this system way more bass and better clarity overall than the B&O. But there are several things you can do to improve the B&O System: the subwoofer works for the B&O system too as I showed in my video about it in my A5 (I originally build and filmed the woofer upgrade for the B&O system). And sound deadening the front doors gives you more precise bass and less rattle. Unfortunately the VCDS coding does not work with the B&O because all of the sound processing is done inside the special amplifier from them and not in the Audi MMI System. So for further improvement you would need a DSP with a new amplifier but for so many channels that you’ll be pretty expensive.

    • @reeseboi8704
      @reeseboi8704 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maximusoptimusTECH Thanks! Appreciate the reply. So the best method you're suggesting is to sound dampen all the speaker locations inside the car. I saw your subwoofer upgrade and thought that was a great way to upgrade the sound system. But I noticed you stuck with the original amplifier for the new sub. Do you really get that much more bass on the stock amp with the new sub? Wouldn't you get a ton more with a new and more powerful amp or was the increase in bass with the stock amp good enough?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that would be the best method for improving your system. „Enough bass“ is purely subjective so for me that was enough but if it isn’t for you adding an extra amplifier should not be a problem at all. Simply use the signal for the woofer as a high level in. Because the Rockford Fosgate woofer has a dual 4 ohm voice coil you can either use it with the stock amplifier in the 8 ohm configuration or with an aftermarket amplifier that is 2 ohm stable like the Audison AP1-D if you want more bass.

    Ich habe mich bei deinem ersten Video zum Subwoofer schon gefragt ob ich ohne die B&O Anlage eine Endstufe für den Subwoofer bräuchte. Aber so wie ich es jetzt verstanden habe hast du die normale Anlage mit dem gleichen Subwoofer und der Umcodierung. Ich war mir nämlich unsicher ob der Subwoofer ohne B&O Anlage und ohne extra Endstufe überhaupt Sinn macht.

    Does anyone know if you can do the re-coding with OBDEleven?
    I have a b8.5 Allroad. I installed Focal 6.5" component speakers and tweeters in the front and rear doors, made some adapter plates out of wood to fit the 6.5" speakers, all running on the factory amp.
    2 jbl 12" W6's in the the hatch powered with a 600 watt mono block jbl amp, that is taking it's source from the old sub wire.
    Samsung Tab S6 as my media player.
    I would like to re-code the vcds to external amp settings, to send more low end to the doors.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the Alpine SPC 100AU made specifically for the A5 B8, they are discontinued but are still produced in very small margins and sometimes available. I drilled a hole into the “fake” cover and put the tweeters on top first, as suggested in the installation manual, but I never liked the look. So I recently bought some used B&O tweeter covers, the plastic panel behind the cover on the door needed some modifications (sawing and cutting some plastic parts out to fit the large tweeters) but with the B&O covers installed now, it looks very good just like OEM :D
      Edit: In case you didn’t know, only the B&O has tweeters in the door. The other sound systems have the tweeters in the front corners. So although there appears to be a grill for the tweeters in the door, it’s just fake ^^

      Focal Performance 165AS = Front doors
      Focal Performance 165AC = Rear doors
      You can also do 165AS in all doors if you want.
      Went with these models, because they are very sensitive and can pump with low power, aka the stock amp, but sound even better if powered w/ an aftermarket amp.
      Front tweeter is mounted in the non B&O window triangle plastic piece/"tweeter cover" its part 8T00354234PK. Just dremel out a snug hole, drop in the tweeter and put the snap ring on the back. They are beautiful looking tweeters, did not want to hide these.
      Cross over is in the front doors attached to the interior side with exterior molding tape, position it so the the window clears it when it is rolled down.
      For the 6 1/2"s in the doors, you need to make custom adapter plates. I used 1/2 or 3/4 mdf, cant remember exact thickness. Took some tinkering to get them the right size, and fit perfect against the door and the speaker, while allowing clearance for the door card, and the window when rolled down. Used single sided sticky foam on the back of the adapters to get air tight seal against the doors. Bolted the adapter to the doors, and then the speakers to the adapters. Also did sound deadening on the door and cards. Sounds amazing!!
      I did this 4 years ago, and everything is still sounding crystal clear with no issues.
