    Your English is excellent! I think the subwoofer in my 2013 A5 Convertible is awesome though. I have the subwoofer control set all the way up and it already sounds awesome. I wouldn't want to go through all that trouble for a little extra bass, but I'm sure it sounds great for you now. Also, I have no rattles with the stock B&O system.

    AWESOME vid Max! Haven't seen one for a B8.5 coupe before. For the C-pillar, what I did was work the trim tool around the quarter panel window and pop that clip out first (you can hear it), THEN remove the airbag clip. Popping out that first clip really seemed to make removing the airbag clip a lot easier.

      I don’t know if I told in the video but I needed the thicker wood, because the sub isn’t a 100% perfect fit, but when you raise it a bit the hole is big enough. So I decided instead of cutting the metal shelf to cut the plastic piece.

      So the subwoofer receives the power, it dorsnt give it, the wiring should be able to hold what the amp gives to the factory sub, if you replace the sub the amp will still give the same power, the only time you should worry about wiring is when changing amps or wattage given

Mind you it will be different because mines a 4 door hatch and the woofer is under the space saver emergency wheel/ tyre.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah you have an easier job upgrading. If you look online I think they recommend a 6.5” kicker to replace the factory woofer and then some sound deadening to improve the plastic housing. Or do you plan to go full custom and built a wooden/fibreglass box?

    • @zeemanjr
      @zeemanjr 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@maximusoptimusTECH yeah I'm not going to go that far I just want to add sound deadening and brand new woofer to fit relatively easily without having to hack into OEM car. I'd also like to upgrade all speakers eventually cause I think there all paper cones. I most likely will add one of those fancy boxes so I can use aftermarket amps. Hence why I'll be keeping this video for safe keeping to reference if I get stuck.

    I really hope I’m not too late to ask. With the settings on the stereo, would adjusting the bass directly affect the subwoofer? (Like setting the bass low would also lower the subwoofer?)

    • @maximusoptimusTECH

      It does adjust the whole bass range, so the midwoofers in the door as well as the subwoofer.

  • @followingfist6
    @followingfist6 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    After watching this video then looking at my sub woofer, I realized this woofer faces upward. My woofer faces downward. Looks like you get more bass clarity with the woofer facing upward. This way the trunk acts like a box instead of the other way around.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The trunk acts as a box either way, the direction of the woofer only changes the phase/polarity.

      @@Justin-rm6qo To be honest, I did this a while ago so I don't remember what colors I did. I simply used a multimeter on the wires to confirm pos/neg and wired it up appropriately. I'm in the process of doing the same with my audi a4 2014, I got the fostgate p3 and after installation it, it plays excessively soft to barely make a difference. I'm wondering if the stock amp cant push the speaker

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Every speaker chassis has a specific efficiency which means how much watts it need to achieve a certain level of output. A more powerful speaker (designed to handle more power) also needs more power in order to play as loud as a “small” speaker. So the Rockford Fosgate P3 that u have used is designer to handle much more power than the one I used and of course a lot more that the stock subwoofer needs. As long as it gets enough power ist sounds better than the ones wich require less power. But when you use it with the stock amplifier it hasn’t enough watts to push the woofer loud enough. Luckily the battery in the A5 is located in the trunk so running a dedicated subwoofer amplifier using a high low converter to get the signal from the stock wires should not be a problem. Also the stock amplifier requires an 8 Ohm chassis otherwise it can damage the amplifier when used with less than 8 because when you have a lower resistance you draw more current which the amplifier isn’t supposed to handle. So I a dedicated subwoofer amplifier would not only give you a substantially better sound quality but also prevent your existing amplifier from killing itself

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Important question, do you have the B&O oder the Audi Sound System? For the B&O the amplifier is fine, for the Audi Sound you should first do the VCDS coding otherwise you won’t hear any difference. Sold my A5 so put my Woofer in my S5 with the Audi Sound System (you can see me explaining in one of the latest videos) and that’s still awesome, no need for an extra amplifier. Just the top of the shelf is fine, no need for the rest of the trunk.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ohh yeah I’m sorry I maybe will add a pdf showing the wire configuration.
      There are two wires coming from the car (positive and negative) and the woofer is a dual coil design. So you need to either use a parallel or serial connection of the 2 voice coils from the 1 input of the car.
      The original Audi woofer was 8 ohms so a dual 4 Ohm aftermarket woofer need to be in series (resulting 8ohms) rather than parallel (resulting in 2 ohms).
      Therefore I connected the +(car)to+(coil1) from -(coil1)to+(coil2) from -(coil2)to-(car).
      I hope that helps 😅👍🏻

      Maybe it’s a coincidence and your battery was nearly dead before disconnecting anyway. I never had any problem when I disconnected the battery (done it several times) but I also don’t have push to start (just the normal key) so maybe you need to code something. Just give your local Audi dealer or specialist a call and ask them.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH

      It’s a dual voice coil woofer, so it has two 4ohm coils. You can either wire them in series (making it an 8ohm woofer) or parallel (making it a 2ohm). That gives you the flexibility to use it with the factory 8ohm amplifier or a more powerful aftermarket amp with 2ohms.

    Thanks ☺️

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just look up how to wire a subwoofer with two voice coils.
      The two 4ohm coils are wired in series so the impedance matches the 8ohms of the factory woofer. If you were to wire them in parallel you would end up with 2ohm.
      So I connect the positive Audi wire to positive coil 1, then from negative coil 1 to positive coil 2, and front negative coil 2 I connect the negative Audi wire. The Audi wires are not labeled so just try out which way it sounds better.

    @maxiopti, seriously considering this mod for my RS5, I got a Lc2i on the way and intended doing a 10" Rockford Fosgate R2 enclosure Running around 200rms (class D amp).... But now ive seen this I wonder how much better over factory this would be?, I'm looking for only a little bit extra bass and volume over existing (10% improvement to fully balance the system). In your opinion does this mod live upto that sort of expectation?. I listen to a fair bit of Keane Dysso, Moti, Oliver Heldens etc and always feel the stock system could use a little bump and a little less rattle.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can’t be exactly sure if the effect was only down to the subwoofer because I also sound deadened the doors with damping material.
      But the doors, and the new subwoofer with the alubutyl on the rear shelf all together it defeinitly was that 10% improvement. Rattle isn’t there anymore (if you do the doors definitely check the windows mechanism, and tighten all the screws you see) and the bass sound a bit louder but deeper and much cleaner especially at higher volumes. It now definitely sound like a system that is worth of the B&O badge.
