Honestly I think that these two Cruellas should be seperated at this point, not only do they take place in different periods, they both have very different visions of her.
@pancrepe5576 I mean, she's like 40 years older and more cynical during 101. She also completely embraced being a terrible person, even being unapologetically so to the 2 people who were closest to her, and name herself "cruel devil". The literal only real plot contrivance was her growing up with dogs and saving Dalmatians herself. It's too uncharacteristic.
@@nopputhihk848 What? 101 Dalmatians?? The cartoon that has nothing to do with the live action?? The live action is just an adaption. It's a seperate storyline. It's not connected to this film.

The first time I saw the film I thought it was really great that the baroness’s character never really strayed from her coldness, except at the very last second when she really realized everyone knows the truth about her, and this time they will do something about it.
It’s really smart writing that Estella asked her “you seem upset?” So the baroness would tell her what happened. This is so everything cruella knows, Estella knows and vice versa
As an origin movie for 101 Dalmatians, it does make too many changes and completely reinvents Cruella into a different character. However as a stand alone film it is pure camp and a great romp. Both Emmas gave a great performance and the costuming was excellent. It is a good fun movie. I think the haters are Disney purists (who wanted a prequel to the 1990s Glen Close films) or people who don't understand/appreciate a camp approach to comedy.
@@jonathanbowers8964thing is, are the people who like this movie appreciate it as, according to what you say, comedy? Or are they liking it as a revisionism of a female villain because of false girlboss energy and simple power trip? I honestly can agree with the former, even if the comedy doesn't really land for me.
