      what about smoke damage and structural damage to the bldg on the left? The ladder truck that was on scene and not in operation should have been set up so that when the tower ladder set up, all the ladder truck had to do was charge the supple and get water on the fire. There wouldn't have been a collapse or the collapse would have been interior.

    • @ems324
      @ems324 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      all 3 houses were a total loss because of the smoke damage to the house on the left and the complete loss of the 2nd and 3rd houses. In just about ever video I see in Jersey they let the house or building get completely out of control and lose the structure because everyone is standing around or there's one guy on the nozzle spraying water on a fire that's quickly getting out of control.

      And fully-attached housing is obviously much worse, as what is very COMMON in San Francisco. So, we cannot be sure if S.F. has really learned the lessons of 1906. I would have to say that the house on our left, with Xmas lights on its porch railings, had to have been used as a buffer, and it's probably a goner anyway, to with the great amounts of water poured on it, to make it a cooler zone, to protect the structure to the left of that. And the air inside of that, looked PLENTY smoky.

    I agree with you, Skyler. A collapse zone was needed in front. Luckily the house on the left peeled off in sections. It's too bad a tiller was positioned right in front of the incident structures. Several engines with deck guns would have been more useful with all the overhead wires & trees in the way of aerial setup. Covering all exposures is all you can do once structures are fully involved given the volume of fire.

      Perhaps because of the lack of man power, one hydrant at the end (dead end as that) of the street, trying to protect the "b" side from going up and many more disadvantages all the "right steps" could not be taken right away. The original fire building was gone before arrival of FD. But they did save the B building.

In my country, the Netherlands, all the inside and outside walls are made from bricks and concrete. The floors are made with pored concrete. Windows are triple layered and fireproof.
    These wooden buildings are fully involved within seconds. Can somebody explain to me what the regulations are regarding the building rules? Good luck for those involved.

    The way they constructed these homes at the turn of the last century was always a bad idea. This is how a whole block can go up in flames just from one house fire. I'm impressed with how they saved the white house next door. Not sure how the house on the other side turned out.

    why they build houses so close together and why anyone would wanna live in them is crazy to me. My house is in the city but I have 20 feet on the sides of my house to the neighbors. Same with those townhouses that are mirror images with only a wall in between them. STUPID IDEA.

  • @grumpymedik

    Video after video is far too frequent of communication issues, delayed reactions, equipment failures. I don't know how these command officers ever get to their positions. That ladder should have been up LONG before it was. Two ground lines of inch and a half you might as well drop your zippers and relieve yourself for all those piddly lines are gonna do. Extremely poor skills at planning and decision making. These people need to get off of their HERO towers that they place themselves on and start doing their job.
