Chromebook ROM:
1. Check to see if your device is supported: mrchromebox.te...
2. Note down the "board name"
example: The ASUS C200 in the video is "SQUAWKS"
3. Go to: github.com/MrC... or tinyurl.com/586... and find the version of your board
use the search function in your browser to find the ROM
4. Add the prefix "mrchromebox.te... firmware/full_rom/" to download the ROM (remove the space before "firmware" in the link)
example for the ASUS C200 "SQUAWKS" (the date at the end will change over time):
mrchromebox.te... /full_rom/coreboot_tiano-squawks-mrchromebox_20220704.rom
(remove the space after "firmware" in the link)
@DrowsyTech Very informative video. Straight to the point. One critique from someone with an auditory processing disorder: Background music is nice in videos... as long as it's in the background. The music was very loud and mostly drowned out your voice. I had to watch the video multiple times to make everything out, and even now I'm not fully sure I caught it all. If the music was ⅓ the volume, or even ½ the volume, that would be a massive improvement.
Other than that one detail, great video. 👍
I recommend using Subtitles next time if you aren't able to hear properly. Hope this helped.

Best video I've seen! I'm willing to do this work, but I want to be sure that it's necessary before spending more money on it. So mine currently boots to that black screen at the end where I've set a USB with as the default boot, that boot USB has a recovery on it from the recovery utility from google. but it gets to a screen and says your system is repairing, please wait and then it reboots and it does this over and over.
awesome video detailing the flashing process, however background music was really distracting away from the important parts, video would be much improved if it was reuploaded without the music. thank you for the content and hope you continue to make more videos.
I'm fairly confident that I will need to do this for my Chromebox Asus Chromebox CN60 . I picked up 5 of them which all need this because of the enterprise enrollment. I have no issue with the just going to Windows 10 outright after the BIOS update. Just determining what BIOS to get from Mr. Chromebox

I figured out they were not bricked and got around the enterprise enrollment by doing a PW and developers mode then doing a terminal window before connecting to he networking. The machines I had were all CN62 as well

I followed the same steps and finally got this done. however, I have installed both Linux and chromeos Flex and I cant find audio. it says No sound. any idea how to fix this?
Od you have 11e chromebook, 1 step is instal chipset driver and then audio driver. Ist very important

you probably found the EC flash chip instead of the AP flash - look for another flash chip on the board
"kefka" board original bin file form the chip is 512KB, the rom file from mrchromebox site is 8MB, NeoProgrammer says "Buffer size not equal to IC size" 😞

Does this maintain the serial, mac address by automatically injecting the VPD back into the firmware that is flashing or should you manually do that step?
As far as I know the mrchromebox script auto injects it. But, it is unclear in the video. I have an LG Chromebase that does not seem to acknowledge hardware WP disabling via the screw. (Yes I checked verification with a multimeter, not a "scrape the connection apart issue") My only option seems to be to flash the chip directly to bring this machine up to current chrome version via Flex. It isn't a big deal if the Mac address gets wiped to generic, but i'd rather maintain the current LAN MAC / VPD since it does indeed have an Ethernet port.

Did you watch the instructions? No developer mode required.
But you shouldn't be modifying school laptops.

This method, I tried using the recovery usb on a school chrome book the exact same way as yours. Sadly this is the only way around it. Anyway yes I agree with the TH-camr, DONT DO THIS ON A SCHOOL CHROMEBOOK, BYPASSING A SCHOOL FIREWALL IS AS ILLEGAL AS BREAKING INTO THE DISTRICT THEMSELVES. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!

I was given a laptop by a organization. The laptops are ours to keep but are enterprise enrolled. And I Can access the laptop, no passwords required. But how do I remove that organization from the enterprise enrollment? I've tried to powerwash the laptop. I've tried developer mode which can't be accessed obviously. I've tried old methods to no avail. I have a brand new CTL Chromebook.

Hey I bought a Chromebook 3100 2 in 1 off ebay and I wasn’t told that it had some random organization attached to it will this process still work with that type of chromebook
I just did it on a 3100, it works The only problem is that you have to solder wires to the BIOS chip in order to work with it.

You bricked your computer then. You need to find the factory rom or one backup you made but the backup wont worek because its from the locked chip. Or if none of thoes are avaible you can buy the same modle of computer and replace the chib on the bricked computer with the new one

Thanks for the demonstration, I tried on my hp chromebook 14 smb with "coreboot_tiano-falco-mrchromebox_20220718.rom" but it did not work. The process went well, but when I turn it on, the fan is spinning and the screen stays off.
HP Chromebook 14 SMB 14", 16 Go, Intel Celeron 2955U 1.4GHz
my device found 4 chips: W25M641AV, W25Q64FV, W25Q64JV and W25Q64BV.
I loaded the ROM in W25Q64FV but when I turn it on, the fan is spinning and the screen stays off.
@@flambel5574 Restore the backup and if it works then at least you know the flashing process was successful. Try flashing onto the different chips (backing up each one) and double check you have the correct rom for your laptop. If you can't restore the backup, then it means there was issues with the flashing, check if it is 1.8v or try without it, check the cables, make sure you have erased/cleared the chip before flashing, try different flashing settings etc... good luck

@@drowsytech1267 Hey, I've got the same laptop. It's Intel. On the website you linked it says that for laptops newer than 2017 I can use a Suzy-Q cable tho that requires developer mode so not an option. My device is 2021, will it still work for your method?
