@@kalskaleidoscope Wonderful .! .it seems that you have a good plan in place for yourself. On occasion, I would visit a friend of mine that was a pastor of a Swedenborgian Church in DC. A pretty nice city that was gentrify left and right, with some very nice neighborhoods. Have you worked in DC ? There also should be a lot of opportunity in NYC !

Yes, there certainly is a lot of gentrification in DC, we read Derek Hyra's Race, Class, & Politics in Cappuccino City for our orientation and that talks a lot about that. I worked in NYC previously, there unfortunately is a lot of opportunity in my field--I might go back after DC, only time will tell!
I feel comfortable traveling in Albany solo as a woman but I could imagine others feeling uncomfortable. In general, it's safe especially during the day but I would say to always be aware of your surroundings and make sure you tell close friends/fam where you are just in case.
I’ve stayed in a few in Downtown Albany on or just off Lark Street. It’s a pretty safe area, but in general just be aware, especially if you’re traveling alone!
