  • The 2006 Aprilia Tuono is going, so Dave needs a replacement. But what will it be?
    Sensible commuter scooter?
    Fire breathing red beast?
Nice practical car? Well, let's not get carried away now!
Find out what Dave's bought, why he did it, what's good and what needs some attention.

LOL at your synopsis of all the manufacturers. "Haven't collected my pension yet!" Spot on! As for the looks of Kawasaki and Yamaha...again spot on! It's an odd odd world when the most sensible choices are either Italian or British made 😂

Possibly one of the best handling and sounding road bikes ever produced? The engine is a peach and so is the chassis. Looking forward to the content and yes, it has to be an Akra on these to let it sing. 👍Enjoy!

I've owned both generations of the tuono and love my mostly stock 16 factory. I added Rizoma M008 bars for my shorter arms and now it fits like a glove.

Sounded like it was gunna be a KTM 890 R due to your preferred spec's and whilst the V4 was basically idling. Glad you got another Tuono, between my brother & I we own 5 Tuono's 1 of each Gen lol ps: Vid's of them all on my channel.

You don't need no more than 125bhp on the road...... I'd agree with that comment.
I feel you may regret your decision swapping out the V2 for the V4 when you find yourself adjusting the valves every 5th latte on the BP rewards card.

I have done exactly the same switch three years ago. Fantastic choice, it won‘t disappoint.
You should consider a shiftholder for finding neutral a bit easier, as you said, a new shifter and the forged alloys. They completely change the way, this bike feels.

Hi Dave - you can remove the locking screw in the +/- controller and rotate it to match your new desired position of the clutch. Just use some good quality 3M double sided tape to bong the +/- control to the other switchgear on the left (turn signals, menu buttons, etc).

I had two gen 2’s and obviously moved on to a v4. Mine was early 1000 model but, with rsv4 rear end. Agree with all your comments… I sadly sold mine as I heard a few horror stories about engines letting go.

Best to go with the heart in this case. New secondhand bike is gorgeous. I'm a sucker for the older Tuono with the dual pipes. Love the overall look. Over here in the states (Long Island) the prices are decent too. There's an 07 minter on Craigslist 9671 miles for $6500. I paid $3800 for my 2014 Shiver 750 with 7000 miles on it. Why would anyone buy new? Good luck with it. Thanks for the vid.

Dave.i own a 18 tuono, and i'm now eying the NEW S1000R which of course is the S1000RR with high bars, not full fairing...and 200 HP.i think it's gonna be he bomb, the king of the hyper naked bikes...nothing wrong with the tuono and its deficient valve train that must be kept in check too regularly, but you know....the german reliability and power would be welcome after years of the italian ''''sensitivity'''' lol.don't get me wrong.the tuono owns one of the best chassis and engine for the road, but i'm getting tired of the under cooled motor, which i ruled out by installing a on-off switch so i can activates the fans myself, a samco hose system +engine ice coolant.......there is simply some circumstances i refuses to ride this bike, the big city being the most annoying setting for this bike; i cannot support seeing my bike's engine getting toasted because the fooking aprilia deficient cooling system ,so after a lot of miles in the mountains, and on the racetrack, mostly track days,i'm due for a change, and i guess the new hyper naked beemer will be it.if ever aprilia upgrade the 1100 engine and the problematic parts and designs,i might get back to it,but i've been there and done all that with it.
