    I prefer the other soil moisture sensors of which you already made 2 videos. I have them outside on the land and they really helped me a lot to adjust the watering amounts, times etc. Things are growing now much better after adjusting using these sensors.

    What a great and helpful video with the one of the correct use cases to not only help the ones in need, but also to educate people in how make something like this if one has a busy schedule, or if one wants to save his the water usage with the future bearing in mind. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you Bart! The biggest problem - time... Never enough time to do everything, experiment more and try different things.

    Nice. For control of my irrigation I use the Irrigation Unlimited Integration in Home Assistant. You can use it on a small or very large system and it's very flexible.

    Thanks for bringing this. Great little device for water control in the garden.
    It looks like it has a soft close for the valve when watching the video, is this a feature or just the way the watering demo worked in the video?
    Do you know if it works okay with DeConz? When I started I decided to go the Conbee route, and at the time it didn't work with ZHA, so got myself stuck with DeConz/Phoscon. :)

      @BeardedTinker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Brendan! Valve closes fast, but hose was very long and it took a bit for pressure to drop as I was also using smaller nozzle.
      In regard to DeConz - by the looks of it, it is not compatible: zigbee.blakadder.com/RTX_ZVG1.html

      @@BeardedTinker Thanks for that. I might just need to kick myself and migrate away from DeConz :)

    Thank you for this great video !! 🤗 . Some updates would be great also for 2024 what zigbee or thread is better or new on the market.

    • @BeardedTinker

      Great suggestion! Need to check what is new. I would still go for Zigbee unless there is something really new in terms of devices that supports thread.

      @@BeardedTinkeryes, I think you are right. I bought in hurry 2 outlets and 2 thread sensors and i regret because the best experience was on mqtt and zigbee. There are just too many devices on zigbee and cheap also. În the end i found some drivers on thread from TRIDONIC company. Check it out but the prices range between 90-170 euros per piece … while a thread ESP C6 is 9 euros … in comparison 😉. Hope this helps my friend 😊! And thank you for you assistance always !

    @beardedTinker What rain gauge do you use? I see you have it integrated in HA. thank you

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one is more of DIY - had one old from LaCross weather station. Removed electronics board (reed sensor) and installed inside Zigbee Aqara Door/Window sensor. So it's now wireless Zigbee rain gauge :)

  • @jimlundborg
    @jimlundborg ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like it, I'm just not sure how much I'd use it connected to a hose. If there was something similar to control an irrigation valve that would be awesome.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually if you are talking about something like this www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/TS0111_valve.html - there are few options for that. They are gas/water valves for more permanent installation. Some can be even powered via power supply. There is also one from Shelly (WiFi model) that is supposed to be paired with Gas sensor, but I think it can be hacked and powered by ESP32 board...

    • @DougLight

      Another good option for controlling overall sprinkler systems is Rachio. I have used a Rachio controller for years and it integrates directly with HA to control individual zones, schedules, etc.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DougLight heard and seen it but didn't test one! Thanks for the tip Doug - much appreciated. It is a bit pricier than this one but probably worth the difference.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently have 0 experience with outdoor Zigbee sensors. I've seen some that are WAAAyyyy to expensive (around 100€ a piece) but didn't try them.
