    Still can't believe I've never gone downriver on the San Marcos. You all show just how amazing it is.

    Thanks for another enjoyable video. I have paddled that stretch once and tubed it once. My family and I have camped at Shady Grove (good people) several times. Good to see your parents in a video again. Be safe and be blessed.

    Man I tell you it's just so awesome to see you and your parents kayaking together. The Santa Monica River looks awesome to Kayak down. I do have my wife , my 5 boys , & granddaughter that love going kayaking with me & it's a blast when I have my whole entire family kayaking with me. Back on Father's Day my whole entire family took me on a 27 Mi kayak camping trip a man I tell you it was a blast. We all enjoyed that. That low bridge was cool. I like how low it was but you was still able to go underneath it. You put out some great videos man.

    Excellent video! Brings back so many fine memories of canoeing this Texas jewel of a river. Even saw some routes I didn't normally take. Water seemed a bit low at the beginning, but higher at Cottonseed, as you were able to go straight through the middle. Thanks!

    Thanks for all of the awesome info and footage! My husband and I are canoeing from the Martindale Dam to Luling in a few weekends. Spending the night at Son’s Blue River campground. Super excited! Would love any advice if you have any.

      @elizabethschneider3627 Enjoy the trip. Just keep an eye out for any log jams. And know how to portage Staples dam. Other than that, it should be a smooth paddle.

    Great video. Would you recommend a paddle board on this run?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are fine as long as its a hardboard, and kneel in the rapid sections. I wouldn't personally run a inflatable though.

    Can you portage around that low water bridge after the Martindale dam? Or do you have to go under?

    • @TGCanoe
      @TGCanoe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a bit dicey to go under. Portaging is always a good option. Portage on the right and keep on paddling, JP. Enjoy!

    What is the best time of the year to kayak this river

    • @TGCanoe
      @TGCanoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The San Marcos River is spring fed, always running, always 72 degrees, and great to paddle all times of the year. Always check river levels before any river trip you're looking to take. FYI - there are sections that can be crowded with tubers in the summer months but, if you get out there early in the morning, they can be paddled and enjoyed without the tuber presence.
