I was also wrongly convicted for a crime that did not happen. Sentenced to 20 years in Texas prison. Finally, got exonerated after more than 30 years. Missed seeing my four children grow up. Now I have my children back in my life, and they have me back. Robert Roberson is being put to death for a crime that did not happen. I hope Governor Abbott has a change of heart, based on the new evidence, and not only stops this legalized murder of an innocent man, but also sees that he is exonerated and can enjoy the rest of his natural life with his family.

So sorry for the horror of your life taken like that and thankful they eventually exonerated you. SO MANY still perishing. We need legislation that MANDATES when those involved in investigation or the state speaks out saying they made a mistake it should not be left up to some judge or governor, the law should mandate new trial and be considered unconstitional to continue punishing someone when ones involved in their investigation or the state are crying out they made a mistake. NEW evidence that could exonerate someone should always also mandate new trial despite where they are on appeal status.

"The doctors and nurses, however, believed that the injuries were not caused by a fall, and they also suspected that the injuries could have been caused by child abuse. Therefore, a police report was lodged and Roberson was arrested the next day after his daughter's death and he was charged with murder, an offense that carries either life imprisonment or the death penalty under Texas state law.[6]
It was the prosecution's stance at trial that Roberson had intentionally caused the lethal head injuries to Nikki through severe abuse and murdered her. In court, medical experts theorized that the death of Nikki was, in part, caused by "shaken baby syndrome", which involved the violent shaking of an infant and would result in severe head injuries. Roberson denied at trial that he inflicted the fatal injuries on Nikki, although testimony adduced at trial suggested that Roberson had abused his ex-wife and two older children in the past.[6] Additionally, Roberson was arrested over 17 times and his ex-wife testified that he choked and punched her when she was pregnant.[7] Though the defense suggested that his ex-wife is an unreliable witness as she had motivation to lie having lost custody of their two children years prior in a drawn out court battle.[8] Prosecutors also claimed that Nikki not only was violently shaken by Roberson, as reported by witnesses, but physicians also reported that Nikki suffered and ultimately died of “massive head trauma.” In the emergency room, Nikki was found to have the following injuries: "bruise on the back of her shoulder, a scraped elbow, a bruise over her right eyebrow, bruises on her chin, a bruise on her left cheek, an abrasion next to her left eye, multiple bruises on the back of her head, a torn frenulum in her mouth, bruising on the inner surface of the lower lip, subscapular and subgaleal hemorrhaging between her skin and her skull, subarachnoid bleeding, subdural hematoma, both pre-retinal and retinal hemorrhages and brain edema."[9] Additionally, four separate doctors testified Nikki had “multiple blows to different points on the head,” which could not have been caused by falling off a bed. At trial, Roberson's defense expert admitted that Roberson “lost it” and shook Nikki because he could not stop her from crying; two young girls who lived with Roberson testified that they saw him shaking Nikki.[10][11] "

If there is no money gain nobody cares. Thats the sad reality. The youngest child had a delay in catching up when she was switching from breast feeding to solid foods. She was not being abused, these two people love their daughters so much. The children were ripped away from their parents and will never be allowed to see them ever again. There is no proof of abuse. The father of serving the end of a probation sentence after having served time in jail. He also has autism. The children in this awful case were handed over to the father's parents who are in a known cult that is now under investigation of a laundry list of abuses included pedophile abuses of countless children here in the USA and also internationally. Wrongful convictions are often ferreted out and laid before a governor who has pardoning powers only for him to take a stand on the inviolability of the state and its courts and let the innocent die. The education level of the jurors needs to be set at a legal minimum. As it is, in order to weed out all the flakes and get an automatic conviction, juries are stacked with the educated specifically excluded. What is it that is done behind closed doors that will not bear scrutiny? Our courts are deliberately flawed, sometimes for political reasons and sometimes for personal ambition. Can you imagine sending someone to die so you can run for judge or political office? It happens and not infrequently.

👨‍⚖️ ~ Do you know the US Supreme Court said innocent people CAN be executed? This was a handful of years ago or so when the ruling happened. It was the Republican appointed justices that said the constitution does NOT prohibit the execution of an innocent person. They said the constitution only requires you have a “fair“ trial and the jury find you guilty. Just because evidence comes about later that shows the person was really innocent doesn’t change what the jury said. States can pass different laws if they want, but the United States Constitution does not prohibit excluding innocent person. The only reason that’s not currently the law of the land is because one of the Republican appointed justices voted against it and joined the justices appointed by democratic presidents. And I say this because the Supreme Court has always had a majority of justices appointed by Republicans presidents for the last 50 years at least. But sometimes one or two of those Republican appointed justices will switch sides and join the minority of Democratic appointed presidents.i
