    Thanks for your constant improvements. Quick question: When playing your app on my millennium exclusive, is there a way to see hints as to what your chess engine would suggest for my move??

    • @AartBik
      @AartBik  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean in Chess for Android (short answer: not yet), or the Millennium hardware?

      @@AartBik I would like to see hints in your app. that way I can see what I would do and compare it to what your app would suggest I do. On the Millennium board it has hints built into the engine they are using and it is very helpful to me in my learning experience. Thank you in advance for your wonderful app

    Thank you Aart. Does taking back moves work directly from the board without pressing anything on the phone?

    • @AartBik
      @AartBik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As with all electronic board implementations in Chess for Android, the eboard can only make regular (forward) game moves. Taking back needs to be done on the phone or tablet (and make sure to move the eboard piece back first to avoid immediately registering the next move when taking back only one move).

    DGT must provide firmware update to DGT Pegasus to improve move recognition especially the piece capture move. They should fix the SPECIFIC ORDER WHEN EXECUTING A PIECE CAPTURE, where you have to remove first the piece to be captured and replace it with the capturing piece. If you do the reverse where you first lift the capturing piece and remove the piece to be captured and replace it with the capturing piece then the board has high probability to run into problem of not accepting/recognizing the move. This is what I discovered with my DGT Pegasus. While in my DGT Centaur I have no issues regardless of which order the capture is executed.
    THE DGT PEGASUS SHOULD RELIABLY RECOGNIZE THE PIECE CAPTURE MOVE REGARDLESS OF THE ORDER IT WAS EXECUTED. I hope users of Pegasus will give feedback to DGT.

      @@AartBik Thank you for developing chess for andoid I like the software and I rate it 5 stars in the App store. As to your question, when I open the connect to eboard option the message "Please enable this permission ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" is displayed. Can you advise what to do to enable this permission?

    • @AartBik
      @AartBik  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go into the Android settings, then Apps, then find Chess for Android. Then under Permissions, enable the ones that are not allowed (with fine setting under location). The location permission is *only* needed for the BLE scan to find the Pegasus, the location is not used at all.

      @@AartBik Thanks for the help. I already activated the permission and I can now use my DGT Pegasus on Chess for Android app.

    Is it possible to use any chess engine and spécific settings like "go depth 4' for exemple ?

      To start an engine match (or tournament), go to the extended menu, UCI and XBoard, Engine Tournament, and pick RoundRobin/Gauntlet for two or more engines.

    once the opponent’s pawn reaches the last row, how does the player know what promotion it is?

    • @AartBik
      @AartBik  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just move the pawn to the last rank which pops up a dialog on the phone where you can pick what piece to promote to.

      @guyitang ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AartBik I was asking how do you know the OPPONENT's promotion. I guess you have to check the app on the mobile? Thanks.

    • @AartBik
      @AartBik  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, you are right, I did not read carefully enough! But yes, just check the app. If you have "spoken moves" enabled, it will also announce the move and promoting piece through voice.

    Would you like to comment on the fact that you lose 2-3 seconds for every opposition move?
    Playing blitz or rapid chess, you are punished harder than playing 90 minute games.
    Pegasus main purpose is playing on Lichess.
