She made it her own rendition with her own style, inflection, tonality, etc. She was not trying to imitate Karen as some might have tried. Not having listened to Karen's version recently, I cannot say if she sang it note for note or not (I think not). Karen Carpenter was and still is a superstar and her voice and style will be forever a main stay in the music world and will never grow old. And this young lady who is singing this song on this Utube channel, has no need to be compared to KC. Why?, because she can hold her own. Daura., I'm just now finding out her name, and yes, she may have some similar qualities that she shares with KC, but in her own right has her own distinctive style and tone . There are a number of singers past and present, who have had similar traits in their voice, but that doesn't mean the newer singers are copy cats. There will always be a market place for singers like Daura. She is a singer who's future looks very bright. What a beautiful voice! BTW, The two lads that sing with her are worthy too. They are obviously well polished singers who's voices reflect many many, hours of perfecting their craftand will be in damand as well. Good luck to all three of you!
