- This one-handed Milwaukee Hedge Trimmer is easy to use and has the power to get big-boy work done. It's powered by the M12 battery and includes a brushless motor. The dual oscillating blades cut through up to 1/2" limbs. The Milwaukee 2533 8-inch cordless hedge trimmer ramps up to 2,700 SPM very quickly allowing you to make quick work of hedges and overgrowth. There’s dozens of reviews on this thing and every reviewer goes outside and starts trimming something WAY outa this things intended use range. Find a freaking row of Green Velvet Boxwood globes and show it shaping them. Or a spiral. Anything that requires the user to be bent over trimming multiple tight leafed shrubs.
Exactly; this isn't intended to go to town on huge overgrown yew shrubs. It's for trimming and shaping smaller shrubbery. Horses for courses.

Only the palm is rubber. Not much sweating in them.
They need to make it a 10” or 12” with the last 4” of the blade without the finger guards so it can hit the full 1/2” capacity. Great review.
Is it possible to get replacement blades that don’t have those safety guards built into the metal blade? I understand why they’re there. But They look like they limit the tool to such a degree that it defeats the purpose of even having the tool in the first place.
Sand them down.

The stated cut capacity is maybe correct if you put more than 1 branch in there which i guess is quite common on a hedge with thin branches?

100% ABSOLUTELY YES Milwaukee should make a m12 fuel of that Ridgid install tool with force control (pushing to work), and best thing is…..b/c TTI makes Ridgid and Milwaukee tools; a patent &/or IP issues shouldn’t be a thing 🤔
So Milwaukee….make us a m12 fuel version of that Ridgid tool b/c it was awesome when able to buy, and would welcome to own another one from Milwaukee WITH SAME FOOTPRINT AND SHAPE, ETC……🙏🏼

Exactly what I was thinking regarding the Milwaukee and Ridgid connection.
Shame on Milwaukee by claiming the ability to cut 1/2" thick branch. With that claim I just lost all respect on Milwaukee. The reality is that no sensible gardener would even attempt to cut 1/2" branch with this trimmer. Just shows that letting these brand name having discipline on self-control in advertising is a hoax.
Might be good for cutting back really quick growing new growth on mtb trails like brambles and ferns
Was thinking this or the m18 Quik lok attachment hedge trimmer. Think I’ll go the m18 as bigger cut capacity. Will be mainly doing small shrubs, but handy to have bigger capacity in case!

I've got the 24 inch M18 hedge trimmer, which I really like when working at a level where the pole hedge trimmer isn't needed, and I was going to grab this M12 if they ever offered it tool-only. Which they now have. However, upon reflection and after handling one, it seems overpriced compared to the 18 and 24 inch M18 units. The price for the tool-only M12 hedge trimmer needs to be lower, around $100-120, not $200.
This tool is clearly designed to replace hand shears for detailed work. Looks pretty useful, but price will probably be a big issue!
It's priced tool-only about the same as the M18 Fuel 24 inch hedge trimmer. The M18 is reasonably priced at $200, but this little thing, while good for small jobs, is overpriced at the same $200.
I have that same Rigid palm impact driver and I love it! Since Rigid stopped making their 12V line of tools I researched and ended up going with the Milwaukee M12 line of 12V tools. Milwaukee does need to make a model of that same tool! Great video on the hedge trimmer too…lol!

Think thats geared towards a contractor who needs to get at something with shrub obstructions. It really isnt looking good for a professional pruning for a living.
Would be really useful for bed cleanups vs using a big hedge trimmer or a hand hedger. Clumps of ornament grasses are hard to hold and cut one handed when you don't want to get it everywhere.

Get the craftsman it's 89 dollars charger and battery and it's more powerful and it's a USA company not Chinese like Milwaukee
Craftsman has one too, and much cheaper.
If I had to guess, the smaller openings on the blades are a safety feature to prevent fingers from fitting through the "gate." It certainly seems to limit its capability, but I can understand why they might have done that.
Sand the gates down on a few of the blades to get the full 1/2" cut capacity. Super easy fix

Was about to order this hedge trimmer, but watched your review first.
Given that Milwaukee can't be honest about the cutting capacity, I've gone and ordered the M18 hedge trimmer instead.
This is really, really WAY overpriced, IMO! It's actually more expensive than the full size Milwaukee hedge trimmer! It's $199 tool only which is really expensive even for a full size hedge trimmer.
YES! -- If Milwaukee could make a palm-type M12 driver like your Ridgid, I'd buy one in a minute. Wonder why Ridgid actually stopped making them. -- Just got the 8-inch M12 FUEL Hedge Trimmer a few weeks ago and it's a superb little tool. Great review. Thanks.
Personally, I don't see a need for a "palm impact" from Milwaukee when the regular M12 Fuel impact driver is already very small and effective when used in that capacity. I prefer the pistol style handling orientation versus how the palm impact is laid out, too. Just my $.02. Keep up the great work!
Haha , one of the first things in the directions says to make sure it's clear when you pull the trigger you don't start off with a big half inch stick in there you wacko funny though
Seeing as this tool would be used with the trigger smashed during the duration of the work, that grip ruins it at least for me. I have large hands but the M12 grip is very uncomfortable for long use times due to it's wide design. Thanks for the review

I would rather have had them make it 18v. Seems the larger battery would have balanced that out nicely.

it can cut small branches bunches up at a 1/2 inch as they squeeze inside, but it will not cut a single 1/2 branch
Seems like a quality product, and honestly, a real-world cut capacity of 0.31" is entirely sufficient for this little 1-handed hedge trimmer. I'm not sure why Milwaukee felt compelled to claim this little tool has a 1/2" cut capacity. If you're cutting stuff that big, you probably want a larger hedge trimmer to begin with.
