Look at Jerami Grant today or Corey Brewer or Raymond Felton: Sometimes they give you 16 points on good shooting, sometimes they hardly score but they always bring it defensively. Developing into that kind of player - with more offensive upside - would be ideal for Melo in my opinion. It would make him a better-than-average role player but who cares? Let go of pride and his image of what he used to be. Truth is he's at his best for the team as a physical player who can drain catch-and-shoot 3's on offense occasionally, gives you a post-up and isolation option if you wish so and keeps the ball moving. Using him that way would also save energy on offense and reduce his turnovers further. Guess both Melo and the Thunder understood that already the way he's been playing the second half of the season. Fans and media just gotta stop watching his stats, that's not important and not helpful for the team. His defensive engagement is way more important than how many shots he takes. Just my opinion
