    Thank you all for commenting my video. I appreciate that and I appreciate that you notice the clean shot. And yes to all that stated that I could have shot the eland earlier... that is true! But for me it is more important to have the perfect opportunity and perfect shot than to have one more animal in the bag that required a risky shot. That is why I waited... and the distance is still way over 150 yards - even if it does not look like it in the video. I have taken 12 eland bulls so far and all of them were clean shots. No tracking. No safety shot. All of them were one shot kills, This is just for you to understand... I have time - and if the animal walks away without giving me a chance - that´s fine for me... we will meet again some other day ;-)

    I have also shot a number of antilope at cattle posts near water, but i dont shoot for trophies, i shoot for meat, so i understand you using a blind , and the most important to me is also waiting for the wright moment and making a clean one shot kill. Sitting at the water without shooting also helps you to get to know animal behaviour as long as the wind is in your favour. When you have the meat you are looking for it is just great to plan your next hunt at the water whole and looking at the setting sun.

    • @NightHunterD
      @NightHunterD  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +chris bornman Thanks Chris - that is exactly how I see it... besides: all natural predators like lions or leopards wait near waterholes... why should human beings not do so? I am also a hunter for meat and do not care too much for the trophy (just like a lion) - trophies don´t taste that good ;-)

    • @chrisbornman716
      @chrisbornman716 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sitting in a blind you always have to take the wind into consideration and it is the best change you will ever have off taking a nice clean shot because you are relaxed and you have a dead rest for your rifle

    When I was young my dad worked at the slaughterhouse, I am a hunter that harvest the animals that I hunt. every animal that is hunted dies in more humane way that the animals in the slaughterhouse, people judge hunters while eating their meats from those slaughtered creatures.

    • @idleonlooker1078
      @idleonlooker1078 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Precisely!! Aside from the meat given to local communities, ustainable hunting increases wild specie populations by removing the big old bulls, thus allowing the younger males to breed to maximise offspring yields. Yet anti-hunters are hypocrites, because they condone the slaughterhouse. Why? Because the 1000's of captive-bred animals are killed for their convenience, consumption and total exploitation (where does the fertiliser come from that they spread to keep their immaculate gardens green?). Bloody hypocrites!! I've NEVER seen them protest in any meat section of any supermarket - yet go legally hunt ONE elephant, and they'll scream blue murder!! Hypocrites!!

People shooting at eland 4 to 6 times before they finally die... why? I took around 35 eland so far and only once needed a backup shot as the bullet was misleaded by an object on the way... thanks for your comment anyways :-)

    • @NightHunterD
      @NightHunterD  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you for your comment. I respect your attitude. Nevertheless I am absolutely for hunting at or near the water for various reasons: Lions do, Leopards do - so why shouldn´t we? I do not think it is an ethical question (even though many hunters are trying to make it one) I think it is that some hunters prefer the "sporty" way and want to approach or stalk animals because it makes them feel superior. What happens then can be seen in thousands of videos here: risky shots, bad shots, wounded animals, elands butchered with 6 or more shots... this is a disgrace in my eyes and animals do not deserve this. A shot from a high seat is always more accurate and preferrable when it comes to put an end to a life of an animal. And besides: they taste much better whithout stress hormones...

    • @ivanpayn4059
      @ivanpayn4059 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different strokes for different blokes. I've hunted at a water hole before. Would not say it was not enjoyable, it's not my favorite way of hunting though. Although I would not choose it as a method over walk and stalk, I'm yet to here a valid reason, where it is legal to do so, why it is unethical.

      @NightHunterD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I do not agree with your statement, though. There is nothing ethical with headshots. The risk of a poor shot placement and suffering of the animal is a lot higher than with heart / lung shots. I am tracking wounded animals for other hunters with my dog for 20 years now. And the worst trackings are those for headshots gone wrong. Also the meat quality is better with lung shots (under hunting conditions). So all in all my choice always was and still is the heart and lung shot.
