when the screen’s hue turned red and static appeared and then the zoom on Rin’s “destroyer flow” face was so crazy, the low exasperated breath from Rin’s VA and his eyes turning as he says “Its Disgusting.” i was waiting for this, and then the following sequences we’re insanely good, its said that Itoshi Sae destroys his opponents “beautifully” but Itoshi Rin will destroy anyone who stands in his way and instead uses the weaknesses and strengths of his opponents to completely turn them over 😭 🙏 (literally)

The worst part is the fact that the animation isn't bad because the studio is bad. It was bad because they had virtually no time or schedule to actually work on the animation, hence what we got. I'm glad they were still able to produce a masterpiece of a final 2 episodes, but damn if only the corporate execs at 8bit gave them a proper schedule, maybe season 2 would have been a lot more peak.

But how they had no time. They took same long break as other animes that have way better animation. So idk.

I keep seeing this excuse but it's not true. The studio was just greedy. The animation for the last part of this show was done by the same legendary animator who did the Isagi vs Reo + Nagi

4:53 Seriously, imagining a whole season of THIS animation would've been the best anime of the year 100%. I think it would be up there with Jujutsu Kaisen and AoT since it was the best selling manga, maybe even surpassing it. Didn't know Season 3 was happening too so thanks for letting us know! Hopefully they give the animations time, and we get this level of quality for all of the Neo Egoist League!

@@rathat69 Considering how much people superficially value animation, it'd be up there for sure. Literally what stopped it the most was the animation, the pacing and story beats were mid at worst. You can look at dandadan and it would severely reduce its chances to be best anime of the year if you ask me if it had mid animation.

I've been shitting on 8bit this entire season but after episode 13 and 14, I genuinely want 8bit to animate S3. They proved that if you give them time they can make a great product
Its not rlly 8bit's fault. It's more on the production committees that fund the anime (Kodansha, etc). They got greedy and set deadlines which prevented the studio and the animators from cooking hard in the past episodes.
IF they get time. What if S3 get announced to be released in next year, along with special movie and 3 OVA about Rin or something, which leads to another cramped schedule for NEL arc. Their production system has greediness problem.

This single episode took me to tears reminding me of how amazing the first season was. It also gave me even more hope for the future of Bluelocks anime, overall just such an amazing episode.
8bit also entered the flow state 🔥🔥🔥
What's makes the final matchup so intense and absolute peak is not just the kagenashi animation but because of its artstyle which is for me like a 90s style artstyle (i wanted to say Inazuma Eleven but I think with a twist of slam dunk and without the shooting effects or weird ahh techniques and more mature) and also the sound effects, especially the cheering of audiences "Japan Japan" Is what makes it more intense and feels like you are one of the players on the field, just overall ABSOLUTE CINEMA, but also the changing of colorizing where it went to 90s artstyle of rin vs sae, moving to black and white where aiku tried to headbutt the ball, while it failed to do so it went to dark more sad lighting to a flipping more light colored in which isagi positioned himself for the direct shot. Just ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
And I also wanted to mention the positioned of the camera when the ball hit the goal (the scene where the ball is directly hit the camera) is just peak addition, its feels like a youtube type content and LASTLY the scene where the camera is focused on all of the Audience cheering and the focused scenes of some audience is just *Chef Kiss* just remembering the scene is just absolute PENG and PEAK AND CINEMA. So much HYPE SHEET

We went from FRAME LOCK to GOAT LOCK in the last episode. Isagi's goal was absolutely insane! It was directed and animated with absolute perfection! As well as the goated battle between Rin ans Sae! I really hope S3 goes in this sort of direction.

Animation was so amazing and all of it was tbh. The story telling, sequences, sound track. I loved when the style switched when rin and sae went one on one. The style switching and the camera going up with “Final Matchup” the ep’s title being written!! It was so amazing. AND WHEN ISAGI SCORED. HE IS MY FAVORITE SO I WAS SO HYPE!
13:51 This question seems to be relevant only to animators, in my opinion. If I were in their shoes, the weight of the budget would always be a reason to sacrifice other episodes in favor of the final two episodes. This approach would be worthwhile for the theme, helping the season conclude in a better way and ultimately leaving hype for a third season

I was sick of everyone complaining about everything about it. I dont think the cgi was really all that awful. I think people complaining about that was overkill.

@Sakurasan2023 Of course, no one is complaining about the animation this time because there's actually freaking animation, if your and actual blue lock fan, hell, any anime fan the reason you watch an anime is because of the animation (if not then just read the manga) and there was a lack of it throughout the this season. The people that were complaining had ever right to, but I can understand that it can be annoying to constantly hear the same complaint over and over again.

Episodes 13 and 14 of Blue Lock were absolute game-changers, giving us an intense, heart-pounding climax that felt like nothing we’ve seen before in sports anime. These episodes shattered every expectation and elevated the stakes to a level where it was impossible to sit still. The animation in these episodes went from feeling like PowerPoint presentations to full-throttle, high-octane action. The transformation in the way the characters moved-especially Bachira in his “monster flow” state-was nothing short of mind-blowing. Every dribble, every feint, every nutmeg was executed with such intensity and precision that it felt like a battle between titans.
The Itoshi Brothers' showdown was electric-dark backgrounds, fog surrounding the field, and the sheer intensity of their rivalry was palpable. It was like watching Mahoraga vs. Sukuna, two forces of nature clashing, with Rin and Sai literally fighting for dominance. And then, in a flash, Rin broke through his brother’s style, activating his own flow state and showing us just how dangerous he could be. He flew past players left and right, dodging everything in his path, but even when he hit the goalpost, Blue Lock threw us a curveball.
The emotional rollercoaster in these episodes was unreal. Rin, so desperate to win, realized that the team wasn’t revolving around him-they were revolving around Isagi. Isagi’s presence completely shifted the dynamic, as everyone rallied around his vision, not Rin’s. That moment of realization hit hard for Rin, as he came to terms with the fact that his ego couldn’t be the center of the universe anymore. Isagi took the reins, showing us that this wasn’t about teamwork as we usually know it-it was about individuality and ego. Isagi was the one who activated the true potential of everyone on the field, pushing Rin to the breaking point.
The final moments of these episodes had me screaming, literally. The tension as Isagi saved the goal and set up that perfect finish had me on the edge of my seat. Rin’s snap at the end was a pivotal moment. His rage, his broken aura, was a testament to how deep Blue Lock dives into the psychology of its characters. Rin was no longer just fighting for his place-he was fighting to destroy anyone who stood in his way, especially Isagi.
By the time the match ended and Blue Lock secured their place in the next phase, I was already thinking ahead to season 3. This show has set the bar so high with these last episodes, it’s impossible to imagine going back to any other sports anime after this. The Neo Egoist League awaits, and with it, all the egos, rivalries, and battles for supremacy will only get more intense. The stakes are higher than ever, and we’re about to see the players evolve even further. Season 3 has to maintain this level of animation and intensity because Blue Lock has truly revolutionized sports anime. There’s no going back now-this is what the genre has been waiting for, and it’s only going to get crazier.

Eh ill give it a solid 6 tbh there was a lot that was genuinely just unacceptable and i cant look past that but ill give credit where its due i definitely have hope that they can make s3 look good if they are given the time
If you include 2 of them, but episode 14 is a cinematic masterpiece to me, 9/10 because they skipped many post-match dialogues

I know this is a unpopular opinion but I think its still mid and the reason so many people are happy about this episode is cause our expectations were so low. If we were given Episode 14 on first before watching any of the episodes I think the opinion would be 50:50 but due to the previous ones being so bad this is somehow God Tier animation for such an important episode.
