I LOVED Kitchen Kabaret!! I remember the time I first went to Disney when I was 16. I got into a huge fight with my mother so I took off and stayed at Kitchen Kabaret for the rest of the day. I just loved the show and the music, the characters, etc. Bonnie Apetit was so adorable. One of the cutest and best animatronics I had ever seen. I must have done the show 20+ times that day. I just loved it and remember that day so well! Good Times!
I'm too young to remember Kitchen Kabaret (And I'm 31!) but Food Rocks was some pleasant memories. don't think we'll be getting any more shows like that though ever again, aside from updating the Country Bears. A relic of a bygone age of low wait times rides. Much improved video, kudos.
I’d love to see a video about the “lost” original versions of Spaceship Earth and what still remains. The original 1982 Vic Perrin version of the ride is very obscure with very little footage surfacing over the years. Many of the 1994 descent effects still exist in the ride albeit abandoned. And of course there’s the infamous abandoned space station and “moon surface” scenes.
At the Simpsons ride in Universal Studios amongst the pretend attractions that Krusty blatantly rips off from Disney like the Haunted Condo and the Hall of the Secretaries of the Interior there's also an ad that reads "Now Hiring dancer to play guitar in Four Food Groups Singing Spectacular: Must have dancing grapefruit experience." I was a big fan of both Food Rocks and Kitchen Kabaret and was happy to see it referenced amongst the likes of it's a small world and Pirates of the Caribbean. I can't think of any other references to the shows outside of Epcot Easter eggs, and if I had seen any others I would have likely remembered it, but if anyone else knows of anything I'd like to hear it.
another incredible video!! I wasn't alive when the show was there, but my dad was and every time we go to soarin he's singing the songs (especially veggie veggie fruit fruit)
@@StorybookAmusement there's so much i daydream about old epcot that I wish I could see. i'm just lucky i saw maelstrom, test track 1.0, innoventions, and captain eo!!!
My final memory of Food Rocks is so mixed...it''s a little sad and little nice. It was and remains the only time I have ever been completely alone in a show. I'd been in a show with one or two other families/people yet never fully alone. I walked in, and I was literally the only person there. My family was lagging behind (we were meeting there), they asked me if I was alone and if I would like to wait for them so they held the show for us. The cast members then proceeded to have some fun with us making jokes about it being crowded and to quiet down for the safety instructions lol. We watched the show and since everyone was aware it was closing soon enough, and since this was also their last show of the day they asked us if we would like to take some pictures with the stage as the curtains had malfunctioned so everyone was still out. We did and afterwards, being the youngest kid they gave me some stickers and even a food rocks trading pin. Apologized for the malfunctions (some effects hadn't worked properly as well) and walked us out of the area. I felt really bad about it because..they didn't know I hated the show. I never liked kitchen kabaret, I hated the designs of animatronics, and only really liked the look of the milk cartoon/food wrapper. Yet the kindness of the workers was so sweet I still have the things they gave me all these years later somewhere. Despite my hatred I loved how unique this show was in many ways..yet mostly I really miss the days when Disney had multiple shows going on at once. I loved Legend of the Lion King, Mickey's Revue. I miss all these unique non-screen based attractions and I was sad to lose that even if neither iteration of this show was for me.
@@StorybookAmusement As I wrote it out I was thinking that exact thing, what a different climate it is today...They would probably usher us out quickly and tell us to not take our phones out rather than make it a fun/memorable moment. Yet what happened when the Universe of Energy closed is really the closest one would ever have to that kind of experience today. I am very fortunate to have a lot of fun memories like this. : )
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm thankful we all get to celebrate theme park history together on here. 🤗 I have a brand-new Disney video coming out tomorrow too, so stick around for that! Thanks so much for watching.
I miss the old Epcot the 2.0 suck it does not feel the same anymore it lost the Magic that was put into the park this is why you should never mass thing and just leave them alone of there icon away
I actually ADORE Food Rocks, especially Fud Wrapper. But I also love Kitchen Kabaret! There also used to be a similar show to both at COZI called The Big Yummy and the host, a French milk carton named Leche, could actually move with the help of a wheel. I love any animatronic shows that feature anthropomorphic food, although I may be biases as I grew up with Veggietales and I also adore The California Raisins. I'm honestly surprised The California Raisins never got their own animatronic show given their popularity during the 1980s, maybe there would have been one in the Claymation Station park had it actually made it to existence?
@@StorybookAmusement Leche's design looks so similar to Fud Wrapper, I'm honestly surprised Disney didn't sue. But I love both characters. Leche for his sarcastic quips at the contestants for the Big Yummy show [which is actually very entertaining in it's own right], and Fud Wrapper is just super cool [helps he's voiced by Tone Loc]. Though back to the subject on anthropomorphic food, I'm still surprised The California Raisins never had their own animatronics, given how huge they were during the 80s and early 90s [possibly an influence on Food Rocks?]. There's so little information on Will Vinton's planned but never built Claymation Station, so I wonder if the Raisins would've had their own animatronic show there similar to Kitchen Kabaret/Food Rocks/The Big Yummy.
I would have loved Kitchen Kabaret. It's kind of sad because it seems like Disney's attractions is based on just their franchises and nothing OG like this or Captain EO. Kind of blows, this would have been fun to see the way the anamatronics have evolved.
Disney definitely takes a different approach nowadays. They have a massive catalogue of content, so they don't take the risk of original attractions anymore.
While , I am sad that both shows are long gone , I,m at the same time ok with soarin replacing it. Food rocks and kitchen kabaret may be classics ,but they are horribley dated.
@StorybookAmusement I am not sure kitchen kabaret to me seems outdated as well. The food pyramid has been long gone for years. It is now replaced with my plate.
If only the land pavilion was a little bigger, they could have kitchen kabaret on the 3rd floor of the building. That way, you would have kitchen kabaret, soarin awesome planet and living with the land ride.
I have the slightest, vague memory of this. I remember being no more than four years old and so confused with what was happening. As an adult, I’m wondering if this show had any influence on Seth Rogen for Sausage Party?
Well, they could bring the Kitchen Kabaret back, just in a more Modern Version and maybe with Disney Characters, who have more Impact as unknown Food Items. After what I know from America and the Trash they call food there, it would maybe be helpfull to made People Aware stuff like Food who are made mostly with Suggar/HFCS and other Carbohydrates are no Cereals but Candy, Food who is processed is not always Healthy, American Bread is not Bread but an eddible Yoga Matt, american Cheese is no real Cheese, american Softdrinks are liquid Candy and made you Fat and look on the Ingrediences and Nutritional Values before you buy something and avoid anything with more as 3 chemical Additives and try to avoid artifical Colors/Flavors. Here in Germany we say, you want Trash Food go to America, you want healthy Food, go to Japan.
American food catching a stray 😅 but I totally get it. Yes! I think this show has value and could make some sort of a comeback with updated nutritional content. Thanks for watching!

I wish it was still an edutainment park, I find that more entertaining than intellectual property themed attractions.
It's hanging onto a nice blend of the two, but the former is going extinct one by one 😞

I loved Both shows
Nice! What's your favorite song from them?
I always thought it would be cool if we got the original plan for the land pavilion.
Someone needs to make that hot air balloon ride! More suspended dark rides, please.
@StorybookAmusement agreed!! But you know they're not gonna do that.
Not unless leadership changes. Which I doubt it.
My sister and I still sing these songs
Sibling goals
Utensils, a U2 parody
So subtle, so clever
I saw this when i visited Epcot in 2003!

Leche is definitely a blatant ripoff, right? 😅 Good points though! People are simple. We just want to watch singing food every now and then.
