If you're into anime, there is this good show called Attack on Titan. There's a character named Ilse there (thought to recommend it having noticed your name).
I see have watched last samurai long time ago, it was also very good, it hit me differently than this movie though.

Zhang Ziyi and Takeshi Kanishiro are the best match of lovers. The leading lady is alluring while the leading man is gorgeous ! This is a heart-wrecking tragic love story but it's so beautiful with secret personal motives. But the love itself wins over what really resounds from the heart. You cannot deny whom you truly love. Losing someone and losing both at the end is the saddest part of this movie. Truly heart-breaking for a senti like me.
I really want to see Yuzuru Hanyu skate to this music. The music itself is very emotional, imagine what depth, emotion he would bring.

Very beautiful I watched the movie. In the beginning he was drunk but her beauty caught his eye. You can tell he was in love with her from the first moment he saw her. Their love for each other was epic.
He wasn't drunk.... it was just an act :) He was there exactly for her. I thought that was stated explicitly in the beginning. I might remember wrong.

Its one of a kind. I remember seeing this in 2005 i think. I wish China made more movies like this. I guess i can understand like Superheroes or in Chinese movies with flying high in air. Its taking... unrealistic thing to a epic genre. But yeah i sorta wish there was more down to earth movies like this. House of flying daggers was very good!

They are also incredible warriors and their trust builds, as well as their love, through the battles.
