Genius is a much overused term but this guy has it in spades. I start crying every time I listen to one of these live performances. They cut straight through to the soul.
Saw this solo show in Austin last week. It was like having Bruce come to your house and play in your living room (with a better piano). Ear candy all night.
Bruce your songs, not just this one, are spellbinding, mesmerizing, skllfully written, exquisitly executed lyrics, piano and music that make me feel things that I thought I wouldnt feel again. The only thing missing for me is seeing Bruces face, rather than looking at his back most of the time. I hope that you come to Australia when this covid virus allows it again.
Coolest thing you said was: "make me fell things I thought I wouldn't feel again". ... Brings back youth, hope, and a sense of adventure and possibilities.
Those chords are so beautiful.. I love those discord’s….I’m a pianist too….it takes a wide span of finger’s to produce those chords. You’re amazing Bruce!!! ✌️😎
Super Awesome forever. ... so outstanding piano skills and beautiful melodies... Awesome Master Bruce Hornsby. love your piano performance always.... 😊
Beautiful music. A musician inspiring a musician. Some say the intro is long. The intro is long. But some just don't get it. The music itself is the musician's heart. Listen to that intro close. You will hear the words coming from Bruce's heart. It is a song within a song. I get it.
beautiful as always. always gives me a smile and peaceful feeling thankyou for the beautiful music. I'd love to see you perform someday. God bless you. thankyou for making me forget my problems for a little while.
Absolutely what music and life is all about. His music tells it all. Like Peter posted. We are all on a journey. Mr. Hornsby enables us to do it together. Very emotional for me
My mother was a gifted pianist and an elementary school music teacher. Listening to this somehow brings her back. Like the notes are telling us where to go. Ahead. With courage. Like my Mom tried to teach all of her students and me and my brother.
You said: "Like the notes are telling us where to go". I was crossing the Texas border one time, and I heard ONE NOTE in a song. I said to myself: "That one note is truth". As guitar maker and musician, the truth those notes is paramount in what takes me to a higher road.
Way back when in 1986,,myself and a long ago girlfriend went to see Bruce Hornsby and the range at the old Syria mosque ... amazing show.....now years and years later he’s still amazing..........
Like all true artists, Bruce Hornsby creates a signature world. Bruce Hornsby's music is one that brings a feeling that is unique, and in some sense truly unmatched. I wonder if it is possible for someone who creates this to realize how profoundly his music can affect those who hear it. It moves in a way, to a place that nothing else can, that ultimate measure. There is a beautiful Swedish movie titled "As It Is In Heaven". In it, a noted conductor returns to the small town where he grew up. It is a simple story, he begins to work with the small local church choir. But what happens is filled with grace, there is something that occurs at the end. It is the only thing that I can think of to describe what it is that I think Bruce Hornsby's music does.
I couldn't wait to see you in concert this last March, 2020, but Covid took away the opportunity. A reschedule for 11/11/20, which too was rescheduled. Now I have tickets for a year from now. I will wait. It's worth it. And I know I will have this chance...soon enough. Thankyou for your virtual concerts in the meantime, and these magical moments hearing you create more masterpieces. Thankyou Bruce and stay well. I know I will see you ...soon enough..
I couldn't have heard this beautiful song soon enough ♡ though, I was slow to find, no less captivating... I love the storytelling lyrics and the unquestionably beautiful Bruce piano style right upfront.
At his best ! He just ‘almost,’ never fails, to amaze me, with his Great Ear, very original lyrical ‘rhymes,’ & big hands, just truly, made for ‘Keys.’ yay !💜✨💫💜
I do know why I keep listening to this I cry almost every time. Now I have a son that just dropped out of school. Senior high too. Im crying as I write this. I pray 😢
so beautiful melodies... the best of the best, the legendary Master Bruce Hornsby. The greatest and the most outstanding piano skills in the World. Awesome...🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊
I have loved this song for so many years. It captures the essence of being human. The beauty, the thrill, the errors. It offers all of the major bright chords and the discordant minor glitches that affect us all. It is a rare song that can evoke so many memories so fluidly. Love Bruce's work.
I will always regret not stopping to tell Bruce how much his music has mattered to my life. Face to face on a sidewalk on Nantucket. I totally chickened out.
Wise words. You are a great story teller Bruce. I sold many copies of your album as a record store manager, long ago, but sadly never got to see you live. We've grown up together, musically speaking, and your music has matured with us. Im enjoying the 'mature' versions of your songs. Thankyou
Saw Bruce Hornsby and the Range at San Diego State College in 1987...One of the best shows I have seen and at 71, that's saying A LOT! some of the very Piano Playing and one of the better backing groups ever. Still sharing his music today.
Saw him at Chatauqua Auditorium, the incredible outdoor venue in Boulder, Colorado, with ceilings as high as the sky and open doors to let the night breezes blow through. Go there if you can and if Bruce pays another visit, don't miss it.
@@SpecialSP I saw him in Portland last night. 15 rows back? Close enough! Amazing. TH-cam has always been enough for most acts but not for Bruce. I had to see him live.
I have never been deissapointed. Always uplifted by all of what he and his bands do. Really renewing. ... This is one of the "churches" I go to. A lot of world known musicians I work for get that concept of spirit in the music. I don't have words that are as eloquent, present, or visceral as the notes in the songs that Bruce "channels", or just .... "Is". Inspirational.
He's such a genius all around very cool individual I don't know if everybody knows but he wrote the end of the innocent for Don Henley just so you know!!......😎
This is a sweet little suite. What you hear as a long introduction is actually a movement. It is not preparation for the lyrical section. It is just the first part of a through-composed piece.
I dont know if u guys know it but the long intro is IS SONG F that bruce had to compose at university of Miami...he just ran it straight into SOON ENOUGH
Bruce, I’d like to see you add some instrumentation from yMusic, add it to your piano and put “Soon Enough” on the radio. I’m no record producer, but I think it would be drop-dead gorgeous.
Soon enough people will recognize Bruce's genius; only a few of us really get it.
Allen Cooper I've been a fan of this man's brilliance for *years!!*
pure genius. Harbor lights is still high on my playlist
yeah his lyricism, composition & musicality is staggering.
Genius is a much overused term but this guy has it in spades. I start crying every time I listen to one of these live performances. They cut straight through to the soul.
@@davidsmith6859 Was fortunate to have attended one of these solo shows in late 2018. Moist eyes for sure!
Had the pleasure to meet and greet the most talented man in my history..
Rock will never die❤

This man's a God's gift to mankind.
This should have trillions of views. Bruce is more than a genius. But most people can’t comprehend his immense talent. Too bad for them.
There are some days that I'm not strong enough to listen to this song.
Saw this solo show in Austin last week. It was like having Bruce come to your house and play in your living room (with a better piano). Ear candy all night.
When bruce plays he takes us all on a journey
Every time we go to see Bruce we see something new, something different
Awesome
Brilliant

Last nite the audience was screaming Genius
My friends thought I had lost my mind when I was excited about the first album with the Range. All now understand.

The intro is actually another Hornsby song in and of itself called “Song F.”

Did your mother play hymns? A lot of Bruce's stuff (especially song F, song C, etc) are very similar to hymns.
@@canefan17 Yes she did. She was a church music director.
Only discovered Bruce this year... better later than never... Song F into Soon Enough just beautiful.
