Wholeheartedly agree with you at the end. Friends keep telling me I should sell my photos/do it as a job. But I worry I'd lose the passion. I do it to relax. I do it to get out in nature and capture whatever I think is beautiful. I don't want the restrictions of looking for what other people want or might like. A great picture brings so much joy.
So true I have been and done it and I suffered with PTSD so getting stressed is not an option now a days I love just going out with my friends who share the same passion and am enjoy it alone too am never going back to doing eventing again. I will soon set up to sell my work but people also contact me about buying so am in no rush for a website yet
Hi Vicky, Love your attitude towards your photography, I used to photograph dogs every weekend for about 10 years, and as you say it becomes a chore, recently I have changed equipment and scaled down, and go out as often as I can ,just because I love being out, I now feel energised again, take care, love the channel, keep posting…..😊
Thank you for your comments I lost my equestrian work and also my social network of friends when I walked away from photographing equestrian events all because people wanted everything for nothing and the club I worked with kept pushing to do more offers and lower prices etc basically to suit themselves not for my benefit so I left will be about 2 years ago now and my “”friends”” haven’t contacted me or spoken to me in all that time. So it’s been hard but getting back into my wildlife and doing it for me has made a long ride but am enjoying it and this is why I’ve started the channel up again to share my journey and adventures.
Great Video Vicky, really enjoyed that. I will be putting this venue down on my todo list. A great message at the end about getting out and about its such a great experience, being at one with nature and the wild life . Thanks. Andy Jersey
Thank you and they ones in the wheel are my favourite if you are on Facebook come and check out my other images I’ve done from the wheel got it taking pre diving
They are absolutely stunning birds aren’t they? Vicky, I love the way you show the live view you had on the back of the camera and then the footage you showed to the side showing how far away the bird was perched. While watching, I was almost holding my breath so I didn’t disturb the bird! The video has that effect!! What an amazing hide too! It was only when you showed the situation outside the hide that I understood why you were using your 70-200 & not the 400 - the perch is much closer than I thought it would be.
Thank you for your lovely comments am glad the video made you feel like you was there. Yes the perch is close by but for more scene images you only needed a 70-200mm but I did also use my 400mm as well for more close ups too.
Thank you and Tim currently charges around £80 for the day and it’s an amazing place worth a follow because he is building a new hide on the land too for more options and birds of prey etc it’s an amazing location he has for sure. Tim has and is still doing a great job re wilding the area too.
Thank you and yes you need to go and have a day here Tim is amazing so friendly and the hide is well I could stay there for ages with no problems at all so cosy
Lovely video Vicky! Had to subscribe. I wish there was a hide like that where I live... I would pay quite a bit to get that experience! Just like for you, we get them here but very rare and always faaaar away 😅I do my Black Grouse trips with my portable hide but have no idea how to do the same with Kingfishers...
Brilliant video. I see a lot of them while I am out fishing. Never managed to get one of video yet. Might just go and try to film and photo them one day. You caught some really good images. One thing I know, they are fast ha ha
What is important is that you can determine the age of the kingfisher by the color of its feet - young ones have almost completely black feet, while adults are orange.
Amazing shots. You've got a new subscriber from me. What gear do you use? I am looking to transition to mirrorless with a Canon R7 and a RF 100-500 L lens but am curious what gear you use. Thanks! Edit: Just saw in the video that you are using an R5
Thanks for the sub! I am on Canon R5 and on the day of this video I was using the RF400mm F2.8 and RF70-200mm F2.8 I also have others lenses RF15-35mm F2.8 RF100mm Macro F2.8 RF23-105mm F4 RF24 - 70mm F2.8 RF 100-500mm F5.6-F7.1/f8
Why should anyone complain about feeding the Kingfisher? People put peanuts and mealworm and other items, out for Robin, Blackbird, Bluetits and many other garden birds, as do I. What is the difference??
Great photos but not natural in my view! I made a movie called the Pandemic Kingfisher Movie on TH-cam - all natural no tanks nothing - just nature! I would recommend anyone to buy a Pop Up Hide - thats all you need - oh and patience!
I understand what you’re saying but it’s nature it doesn’t have to turn up to the perches etc. I was sat watching it fishing for fish from the trees on the left of the lake. Everyone’s views are different I guess but Tim is re wildling the area he has various of animals being released on his land by conservation groups too ie 2/3 swans where recently released.
Lovely video and images, but nothing quite beats finding and photographing them in the wild.
Couldn't agree more! You just have to be in the right place at the right time
Nice one, Vicky. These are incredible images and the footage is top notch too.
Thank you so much really appreciated ❤

Besides your beautiful images, this is the most luxurious hide I’ve ever seen. How much the owners charge for the day?

Very good Vicky really enjoyed, do like the talk at the end about getting out there
Yes it’s so true everyone needs to get out in nature but respectfully of course it’s done wonders for my mental health after having PTSD
Brilliant video. I see a lot of them while I am out fishing. Never managed to get one of video yet. Might just go and try to film and photo them one day. You caught some really good images. One thing I know, they are fast ha ha
You should get out there and have a go they are beautiful birds.
