More bodys of fresh water than all 49 states combined. If water becomes tanted. I will chop giant chunks of ice from any 1 of many glaciers. There is so much wild game our tiny population couldn't over hunt if they tried at Best. half our population would be dead in 4 months because they moved here from somewhere & couldn't process a moose or clean a fish if they tried. I have all i need. Yes i hv covered medical etc. Love all you preppers. Don't move to AK if your not pro gun, pro Fvcking cold. You won't last.

If you don't have a 90 day supply of food water and preps, start out with 3 days and go from there. Once you reach the 3 day mark, then aim for 3 weeks, then 3 months. If you start out small and go from there, it'll make getting to your goal a little easier.

Parents of all the starving children TERRIFY me. We are prepared for a number of children to be dumped on us (already happens all the time) so my preps are well hidden, diversified, and we have back ups to our back ups.... If a disaster hits while you're at work, excuse yourself as soon as possible, and immediately if possible. You'll need that time to drive home and prepare before the reality and panic sets in to the masses.
If it was an EMP, you may need to walk home from work. So start asap! Try to get home before public panic starts. Have a bugout bag in your car, which you can carry to get home within 24 hours (backpack with some emergency bars, water, hammock or tarp, walking shoes, sleeping bag and emergency-foil blanket (if cold weather), small flashlight, backup battery pack for cell phone, etc.).

In 911 after the first tower was hit, a lot of people in the second tower wanted to evacuate but were initially told they weren't in danger and they should just go back to their office. I think it's important to go with your gut and just get away. @betsybarnicle8016 I think that's really good advice on going home, and also the emergency backpack.

I live in a neighborhood where people are more concerned with buying a daily $8.00 cup of coffee from Starbucks than buying canned food or emergency supplies. During a recent thunderstorm, we lost electrical power. After the shock of the instantaneous darkness, I looked for matches only to find those on hand were old. A recent purchase of a lighter used frequently for a lighter provided another shock. Being a non smoker, I could not light it or the oil lamp needed to light the room. The next awareness came when the security system, inside and outside of the house, no longer worked. While I’ve been prepping for a year or so now, I decided at that moment that I would purchase 1) a battery operated light; 2) battery operated fan since we live in FL; 3) learn what security system works during power outages; 4) learn which system has an external from electricity works a Wi-Fi.
Believe me, I thought I had learned a lesson when this happened during Hurricane Ian yet apparently I have not acted fast enough.
Hope this may be a warning for others among your viewers or someone may have answers for my situations that recently occurred with me.

I’m learning to do more but there are a few that are more difficult than others. We used to have a large propane for heating and cooking but replacement requirements do not want those being utilized. RV has both so we should use them in the future. This last down time, however, was more of a wake up call as it is becoming more frequent now.

Most people who are planning on bugging out believe their is a magical pixie dust land that people are going to welcome them and feed them. It doesn't exist. Even during Katrina, cops shut down the bridges and shot and killed people trying to get out of the flooded zone. That was with a localized event where everyone knew at some point help would be coming. My guess is many small towns will set up road blocks out of town and not allow people through. Anyone in town at night that isn't form there will be dealt with.

As someone who has gone through several hurricanes, I am always amazed at the lack of preparation by individuals. When a storm forms in the Gulf I fill my gas tank and keep it above half. When a storm is heading my way, I fill my gas cans and test my generators. I get out my extension cords. I fill my water containers. I check my propane tank. I always keep a robust food pantry.
So many people are desperately searching for gas the day after a hurricane blows through. They are also close to an empty pantry.

I would like to add a couple of things most always neglected. If you are going to leave know where you are going and who is going to welcome you. I live in a remote community and strangers can be shot at if they are roaming around on property that they are not invited on. Just because you are out of the city doesn't mean you can go foraging or camping anyplace that you like. Find locations and make contacts, maybe through a church or social club. Nuff said there.
Next is your human waste. Just as important as the food and water, the byproduct needs to be considered. As a homesteader and as a person that has lived on boats for more than a decade this is at the top of my preparedness. The disease and odor is as much of a detriment as as lack of food. there is some food for thought so digest it safely.

I would recommend making up a little notebook, inventing quaint and colourful names for favourite areas in woodlands, by rivers, etc - because this makes it easier for you to remember them, and doesn't give clues to anyone else that might take your book.
Make a calendar of when fruits and mushrooms appear (but also note what effects weather has on harvests. For example, drought and extreme heat this past Spring forced several mushroom species to fruit earlier than normal).

I think sharing survival information that won't hurt you in the end can be helpful. During the covid lock downs I made reusable masks and gave them out so that people would be allowed in stores. The first thing to go off in a war is your BASIC communication, satellites communication, cell phone and the internet will probably disappear, make sure you have a short-wave radio it will allow you to listen in to news and events worldwide at times of media /local radio blackout.
Shortwave radio does not require a satellite or a repeater site for it to work, short wire acting as an antenna will do the trick.
If you can learn the basics of shortwave, you might get a transceiver, this gear will allow you to listen and transmit back, all this could be achieved with a very low power using a small 12v battery.
Some of those transceivers are so small they can fit in the pam of your hand and are not an expensive item.
10-20watt on SSB (single-side-band) can go around the globe and will work with a short wire (27ft) antenna that could be supported by a tree.
Shortwave technology is old, yet proven to work in times of emergency, during World War 2 it was used to connect with the troops and send message from Europe back to the U.S.
Whatever is coming, it will be bad (a strong gut feeling), get ready now.
good luck, and thank you for a great video.

We wanted to add these comments to your five time associated plans. First, many of us are old. We are over 70 ourselves. Playing prepper outside of our home is not going to work period. Same with children aged dependents. Second, most of us live in a city not rural folks. That means clogged freeways, no power so no gasoline, and no other means to escape your local home town. Third, the major threat is just not known. What is known is what preparations you have created during times of calm and deep thought. This must be your focus. What is needed? Air, water, food, shelter, and clothing. That means n95 masks to protect against smoke and heat like fire and the sun. That means water distiller since these are inexpensive and provide long term hydration. That also means solar capable batteries such as Yeti and others from Amazon. You need to power up essential electronics like that distiller and your smart phone. At least you can play recorded music. You can buy multi channel radios to allow your information using batteries once again, rechargible. Food is done with vacuum packed rice, beans, and canned goods too. Water can also be stored unopened from Walmart at $1.22 a gallon. You can buy a years worth of water for a thousand bucks.

    @johnpowell8568 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Biggest problem is sanitation, electrical power failure, and water loss. These three things alone represent our worst danger. My heart always goes out to the residents of natural disaster areas, since they are basically in a 'grid-down' scenario for ?how long? With our increasingly freakish weather, it gets scary for most, but too often fatal for those that live in the wrong place, like the baby killed a few months ago by a tree that came down in one of our new super storms!
One mistake too many people make is the idea they cannot prep due to location in a city. Our city has a pretty good supply of wood that is CONSTANTLY falling into streets from old trees getting knocked down in storms. This wood is FREE, and some is even cut into firewood lengths by the city clean-up crews so that it can be easily used. It could even be used in a barbeque if you have no fireplace! So keep your options and imagination open for simple things you CAN do, and you'll be pleasantly surprised how MUCH of a difference even a few simple things can help if there is even a short emergency. I'm in a wheelchair, but I always go and make sure there is always a bunch of carefully arranged wood in my mom's fireplace that needs only a match to start if the power shuts off, and it works great! We NEEDED those pre-made-ready fires several times when the power went off due to storm outages. This is just ONE simple way to make tomorrow the difference between livable and not so good...
I already buy foods for those less fortunate, and always try to add in some longer lasting items like sealed packs of nuts, crackers, etc that can be easily kept at room temperature for months if necessary. Remember this; Survival living is becoming a daily norm for several million folks around the country, and several billion world-wide, so PLEASE get out there and work with as many as you can to create a little more preparedness and community resilience. What we do today decides how we live tomorrow.

After a flood in 77 it took nearly a year for the area I lived in to fully recover ,but in a strange way it was one of the best times I have lived through. Everyone understood we are all in this together, we all have to work together to get through this. It was truly inspirational to me to see bitter enemies working together because the speed of recovery and return to normal life was the primary goal for every single one of us. Disaster yes ,inspirational yes .worst of times, best of times!

rule 6... learn to meditate/fast... if you are able to function with ease eating 4 out of 7 days, and yes this includes being active if needed... obviously everything will last much longer. the key benefit to the meditation aspect will teach you to keep your heart rate low, stay calm and even blissful in chaos and learn to control the drug addiction humanity has to food, let alone entire way of life or known addictions... puts you miles ahead of even the most prepped mentally. just think about it, if you can run off way less food comfortably and maintain mental clarity, having already flexed the muscle of food control, you will make better decisions. im not suggesting tune out the world in the midst of insanity, however, if its a reasonably calm moment and you have a few other people guarding the place, you will save energy mentally and physically by being able to control your mind/body... its basically a cheat code from the viewpoint of western society. for example, justified or not, anyone with physical addictions will be simply screwed. so getting clear of those now will be a tremendous benefit. stay safe everyone, and just remember... the only moment that exists is this very moment, not the past nor the future... be prepped, but do not attempt to predict what you cant possibly and definitely do not stress about what may be down the pipe or you will miss enjoying today. stay safe.

Many Thxs Kris for all you do and this most recent video presentation reminder! We definitely need it! I think you would be surprised to learn how many of us do not have family, friends or community out here for many valid reasons ie. the Covid restrictions did a good job of destroying my way of life forever! Beginning with where I was teaching at closing down to people getting Covid and still having Long Haul symptoms, or having cancer and are currently fighting for their life! If that is not the case many people are simply scared, afraid, and unfriendly! Recently, I tried to volunteer for free someplace and was told we are not taking any volunteers right now! The courtesy of at least saying we will put you on our waiting list was not afforded me, even though I am highly skilled and with impeccable credentials! If I were you Kris, please consider taking a survey of how many in this community have a prepping/community/ friends/family that in an emergency they can band together with? Your survey results might be Shocking! …….As for me I will continue prepping until I die! Unfortunately, for me this may come sooner than I would like as my doctor just told me that sometime in the past year based on a cardio monitoring test in her office that I have had a cardiac arrest/heart attack in the past year! Sooo Kris there is a dire need of prepping communities being formed! I remain in gratitude for all you do! Blessings! 💐

Get yourself a ministove or propane stove. If you live in an apartment building, make sure to get cushion insulation that you slide under your door to keep cooking smells from wafting out into halls. Reinforce your door with a heavy unit like a desk (if you don't have a door alarm).

Many of us can prepare to survive a week or maybe a month. You won't make it past that unless services are restored or you have the ability to live off the land. That doesn't mean you bought all the survival stuff on Amazon, it means you've practiced to the point that you can readily do it for months or longer with only the supplies you can carry on your back. If you are months into it and have to rebuild the world around you, someone will likely kill you to get what you have. You might win some of those battles but you won't win every one. Get as far away from everyone as possible with a couple of like minded friends and family members and survive in rural areas.

Very nice video. Reasonable assessment and advice. One thing to add is: even if you are staying and have the preps to survive 90 days, most of your neighbors will not. So staying in place after a major disaster may mean that you will be surrounded by needy, desperate neighbors. Before a disaster, it would be a good idea to work out a policy for helping (when and how much) and also do a little prepping to account for your neighbors.

I remember back in the 1970's .NYC had a strike by the city garbage removal service that lasted a week or two, it was summer time and within a few days there garbage being piled up on the curbs outside apartment buildings and all the dumpsters in the back of restaurants and other businesses were over filled with piles of garbage heaped up, soon the smell of the putrid garbage drew flies and Rats and the threat of disease started to be a major concern the quality of life was greatly diminished as people were starting to fight over space to put their trash or got violent when somebody dumped their garbage on their curb , the strike ended not too long after that, it took weeks for NYC to remove all the accumulated trash by barge to other places and clean up the mess , But you can see how just one thing nobody thinks too much about in their daily lives and takes for granted ,assuming it will always be there is suddenly removed especially in a crowded city how our society will quickly breakdown into chaos and civil unrest , now add something like no running water , electricity ,easy access to food or medicine into the mix of no trash removal and imagine how people will react, I think a lot of people will have a mental breakdown if the internet and social media was down for a day

Get a solar powered generator. If the power is out, you won’t be able to get gas at a gas station as the pumps won’t work. Get the biggest you can afford, so you can run your fridge/freezer if you can. Keep your freezer stocked so it stays colder longer. Get a battery powered radio that can access short wave, with rechargeable batteries which can also be powered by solar and get some sort of protection from emp for it.. The internet may well not be running, even if you can access it, likewise cell phones.

One man screamed at me...he paid his bill, he demanded yada yada yada... I asked if he was near his TV. No, it's upstairs. I'm going to flip as switch (the main trunk line) see if you TV works. clunk clunk up the steps and 5 more times.....the guy was wheezing but the TV was back. Oh thank you so much for helping us out. No problem...!! All that happened was the cable came on, just like always and he felt like a hero. People actually call 911 to ask about dead TV's and cell phones. All those people, sheeple, will die. Sadness....

Great advice across the board, although there are some things you didn't seem to consider. 1) If there is no power, for whatever reason, there will be very few stores that are actually open, gas won't be getting pumped, etc. Some places may sell for cash, but most chain stores are bound to that POS program and will not. 2) Most people do not have a bug out location to go to. Most people will be stuck in their homes barring fires or other destruction of that home. It is simply a fact that if people begin leaving, most will have no destination, and they will become dangerous very quickly if the situation is wide spread or national in nature. If you have to head out, you need to do so with the mindset that you are on your own, and trusting others however innocent or 'safe' they seem is just not a good idea.

If you have prepared and still are living more comfortable than most you must keep a low profile.
Don't look clean and groomed when others are not able. It is a tell that you have resources.
If you have lights cover all your windows from the inside with heavy blankets, foil, or something that doesn't allow light to be seen from outside at night. Disconnect or remove bulbs from outside lights.
Don't make yourself a target by looking like your life is still like normal.
If they are handing out resources get in line like everyone else even if you don't need them. If you are not taking the handouts people will know you have resources.
In an SHTF situation you must stay alert to even the slightest threats. Someone may appear to be harmless but they could be an informant for unsavory people.
There will be good people. And over time you will learn who you can trust. And even then never allow them to know what you fully have. Even good people can turn bad in a crisis.

Grandpa told me when I was 14, find a job close to home so you can get here if the world goes sour.
The farm has a generous supply of food, a windmill for water and all the buildings are on high ground. So long as nothing explosive gets close we will do just fine. A nuke war could mess that up but we are fairly remote from all critical targets.
I do worry about folks in the cities.

Learn and practice skills now before its to late. If you where not raised with this knowledge is not to late to learn new skills. Never say you can't do it. You either do it or you will not survive. It's that simple. Basic skills don't talk years to learn other skills may take longer for muscle memory.
Identifing plants for none edible and edible. Those that are not really edible for for but can be used to make medicines. Know your trees and their benefits.
Also remember, save your resources. Don't over harvest 1 plant. Don't kill trees. They are a resource year round. Somethings can be harvest from they at different times the year. Learn how to gather and hunt wisely. You harvest to much it could destroy a resource for everyone that is depending on it.
I know it will be temping but resist the urge to doing. Sewing skills weaving skills. Food preperation for long term. The same skills our ancesters used for thousands of years. It won't be easy, but you must.
I have many skills to survive and i still feel i need to learn more. Im almost 70 years old. Rsised on a farm that did things the old ways and still do. I can be of great help in such a situation but my time on this earth is running out. I just pray you become wise and learn now.
