How to Write a Successful Academic Report | Brief Explanations on Elements, Structure, and Template

This lesson will introduce you to what goes into an academic report and how you can go about writing one successfully.
In the first section, you will see the nature and elements of academic report writing. Make sure you listen to the difference between essay writing and academic report writing, the objectives and elements of academic writing.
In the second section, an academic report writing format or structure is provided with brief explanations. These explanations about the 7 main sections of the standard academic report writing format will help you to produce your material effectively.
Finally, I provided you with tips and some advice designed to help you to write a good report and then a practical exercise is given to you so as to help you practice academic report writing with clear instructions.

Thank you for your comment and you asked a good question. It’s not enough merely to repeat your thesis or summarize your main findings in your conclusion; you need to answer the question: “So what”? For example, you need to answer: why does what you’ve written matter? What should your reader take away? Based on your findings and discussion define what your research showed in relation to your aims. Then, state your point of view based on the major findings and don’t forget to make cross reference so that you keep objectivity in your reporting. Don’t forget that your writing approach must be evaluative and argumentative.
