Loud gears are just caused by age. The odd noises and the Furby malfunctioning are caused by a shortage in power. The toy has enough power to start but not function properly.

The newer ones are even more bazar. they actually SHAPE a personality by the way you treat them, if u are mean it will act like a vally girl. if u shake it it will become crazy-ish. if you pet it repeatedly, it will become baby-like and nice. If you over feed him/her it will become the "tough guy" or known as the grumpy EVIL furby, which growls and pukes up when u feed it. It learns english on the way which is extremely creepy, but they are cute. speaking of smart toyss!!

no if you reset it when it stops making sounds, it wont work. if you reset it while its malfunctioning, it will work.
