    Hey Jody, I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! Your videos has had a HUGE impact over the past year. Ive had alot of complications while in the enlistment process (specifically MEPS) My medical records got accidently switched with my dads and that took a substantial amount of time to get fixed. I have been in this everlasting cycle for a year and a half now. This has been the most frustrating and stressful thing I have ever gone through. But one thing that I have learned from this process is PATIENCE. If I were ever feeling let down or discouraged I would watch your videos to rebuild myself back up and it has really helped me. throughout the frustration and stress and discouragement I can now finally say I leave for BMT July 18th with the job I wanted !!! Again thank you for everything that you do, Thank you for encouraging others like me, Young and beginning their lives through the Air Force. Hopefully one day during my journey in service ill be able to shake your hand one day Sir!

    • @Jodywithawhy

      So from my understanding, you don’t need to take the DLAB anymore. Instead they’re assessing people’s TAPAS (tailored adaptive personality assessment system) score to determine eligibility for linguist careers. This is a mandatory test at MEPS. Check with your recruiter to see if I’m correct about that.

    Hey Jody, I just wanna say thanks for all the great content; it is really helping me mentally prepare for going to my recruiter and the steps beyond.
    P.S. I heard through the grapevine that the USAF is really looking for mechanical and eletrical jobs, which I am not opposed to, but I am generally lousy with that stuff. If those are the only jobs that are available and I cannot place good enough to qualify for those, should I wait for a job that I qualify for even if its like a year's wait? Or should I try another branch?
    I am not opposed to joining the Navy or Army; I really just want to serve my country and do something that I will be proud of, something meaningful and fullfilling.

    • @Jodywithawhy

      You have a good shot just depending on medical records. I would recommend gathering all the records you can, and get any clearance notes from your doctor stating you’re fine. Also, all of your pharmacy records for the last 5 years.

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the severity of the condition. You would need to gather all of your medical records regarding that, and then have a recruiter send them to our doctors for approval. That’ll be the only way to truly know. I hope that helps.

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for the video. I would like to ask if PiCAT is an option for AFOQT, or is it only for ASVAB? If it is only for ASVAB, on the day of assessment if the score is let say 5 points lower than the score on PiCAT what will happen in that case? Another thing is that is the questions on the PiCAT and assessment are the same?

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The AFOQT does not offer an PICAT style test. The PICAT will be done at home or in a recruiters office. Once at MEPS you’ll need to take a verification test. That test will present questions you answered on the PICAT. If you don’t answer those questions similarly, you’d be rolled into the full ASVAB test. I hope that helps.

    I'm currently Male, 18 years old, 6'1, and 265 lbs. I know I've still got a ways to go, but I just wanted to try to get an idea of where I need to get to, since I've seen several different things online and I wasn't sure which was current/accurate. Hi do you know if someone with previous history of depression would be allowed in? I really want to enlist but unfortunately during a strenuous circumstances I was placed in the hospital and was diagnosed with depression.
    I keep hearing about waivers but I’ve been told by recruiters and online groups alike that someone like me shouldn’t even bother.
    I was only ever diagnosed with depression and have no other issues beside being slightly overweight. If you can give me some insight I would appreciate it greatly.
    It was a one time incident and I’m perfectly fine without medication but the record makes the situation way worse due to me saying things out of emotion at the time that I didn’t meant.
    Score wise I’ve scored 96 on their test Picat for the army but I was soon let go again as a result of my medical record.
    I really wish to enlist and prove myself that I’ve overcame my past issues and want to be given a chance at it.

      @@Jodywithawhy
      I have watched the video and my biggest question regarding it is the inpatient care disqualification for enlistment or disqualification for waiver? I know it sounds weird but I know for a fact I will need a waiver but I'm uncertain if there is any condition that would make even waiver ineligible because the recruiters I've talked to don't even mention them.
      Part of the huge issue was because I was taken to a hospital where I was diagnosed which counted as inpatient care. I said some stuff I regret saying but I'm being treated as an SI case because of what I said at the time. I said some dumb stuff because I was emotional at the time, lost multiple family member I was close with due to covid and the isolation got to me.
      I had no more issue without treatment since then and been perfectly normal however I was told I had to obtain the statements verifying I'm fine to serve from a doctor. The hospital that diagnosed me told me they don't provide such a service so I end up going to another doctor to obtain verification statements. However they told me they won't write such a thing unless I accept their treatment only for them to tell me almost 8 month later that they don't provide such a thing either. Recruiter said I got screwed and "reset my clock" assuming if I wasn't denied regardless due to being marked as an SI.
      Most recruiters I've talked don't give me any detail rather than saying "yeah sorry you're not qualified, try the navy" before hanging up on me or showing me the door.
      I genuinely don't have any issues, it was a one time incident with extremely unfortunate circumstance and poor communication on my part leading to such a documentation but now it has become the biggest barrier for me to achieving my dream of enlistment. I've been trying to get myself requalified since I was 25 but trying to get the issue resolved seem to just make things worse. It's been 2 years since I've been working on this and its very discouraging that I've made next to little process.
      The few doctors I've contacted that does provide the service in question to me that they've been at max capacity since COVID and I have very limited means to finding supporting document to help my case. It feels like I have no way of proving myself fit for service at this rate. I'm willing to do anything and everything to get myself requalified even if it takes me another 5 years but I'm given the impression by recruiters that because of my medical record means I won't ever be allowed to join the military.

    • @Jodywithawhy

      Anytime there’s SI, you’d wanna wait at least 36 months. That’s when the doctors will consider approving your waiver. Nothing’s guaranteed, but you’d have a better shot. In the meantime I’d recommend to start losing weight and get yourself physically qualified, that way you prove to the recruiters how serious you are.

      Thank you very much for responding. I will do my best. Hearing that from you made me feel more confident as the way other recruiters made it sound like its unwaiverable.

      I hear they have a computerized version, but I don’t know if it’s 100% computerized. I think it depends on the testing station. But your recruiter may be able to answer better than me.

    I have a question I am considering joining the air-force. I am currently renting and apartment what will happen if approved with my apartment? Also I believe I will need a waiver because I have some traffic tickets. I really want to join the air force

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The service members civil relief act will allow you to break the lease agreement with the apartment if you get accepted into the Air Force. www.military.com/benefits/military-legal-matters/servicemembers-civil-relief-act-overview.html/amp
      If you want know if you’ll need a waiver, I made a video which discusses how waivers work if you haven’t already watched it. th-cam.com/video/tjWAMSMoBDY/w-d-xo.html

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s possible but it would require a financial waiver. If everything goes well during that waiver process, you should be able to join.

    I took and online practice test with no phone no internet cheating no nothing and crushed it. I graduate college in June of 2024 is it too early to start talking to a recruiter?

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good job on the practice. I’d recommend reaching out to a recruiter and see if there’s anything which will potentially disqualify you, and also see if there’s anything they recommend you to do which will help your chances when it’s time to apply.

    Can you decide to change from the Marines to the Air Force down at the MEPS after you finish all your requirements just haven't signed a contract at the MEPS? I passed everything but haven't signed or swore in yet

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but not at MEPS. You’d need to talk to your recruiter first, and then find an Air Force recruiter to work with. I hope that helps.

    Hey Jody I just swore in this week but waiting for my waiver to get verified. Do you think it will disqualify me from jobs? It’s a medical waiver for a surgery I had when I was 12 it was for my testis to not disclose too much info

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had something along these lines approved twice in my time as a recruiter. It’s all dependent upon medical records, but from my experience I had good luck with this.
