I really like young wolf. a 1/1 for a green that turns into a 2/2 when it dies is cool enough, but it activates morbid abilities, like hunger of the howlpack. You can chump swing, he dies, comes, back, hunger, he turns into a 5/5 early as turn two. You can infernal plunge him to get a 2/2, then use the mana to get huntmaster of the fells on turn two. He's not as good as the commons listed here, but I think he deserves some recognition as an underrated card.
They even feature Future Sight on a list of the worst sets simply because of Sprout Swarm destroying Time Spiral limited. They must've forgot about it because Sprout Swarm makes the format so boring. I played against Sprout Swarm four times out of six matches during FS pre-release. It felt like I had no chance whatsoever once it resolved.
Empyrial Armor, I'd say was top all time, it was pre-tempest but should have been mentioned. In a set with almost no removal beside low damage burn, playing this on the 3rd turn usually was gg.
@Theiammadmad Hey, I'm not arguing against pestilence. I can recall this one draft, though, where I went mono green with 20 bodies and 3 rancors. I wound up going 6-0 and beating the top 2 players in the state (at that time). You can see how my opinion might be a little biased, lol.
In an PTQ Top 8 in January 1999 we did Triple-Saga draft, and everyone watching thought I made a mistake not drafting Pestilence. Instead, I drafted R/U weenie and easily beat the guy everyone thought drafted the best deck, and then almost got a win that would have given me a PT entry.
I think they restricted it to one card per limited format, so they took Pestilence over Rancor since black was very good in Urza and Pestilence just made it even better. They also forgot Waterfront Bouncer in Masques, but Troubled Healer made the good decks even more broken.
Disappointed to not see Mirage on here, but understand I guess. Way to much sweet commons in that block that it would of been half mirage Empyrial Armor, Torch, Ray of Command, etc.
It was such a shame because I actually enjoyed TSTSTS and TSTSPC limited, but future sight detroyed everything with Sprout Swarm. Especially in the pre-releases, Jesus Chirst, I played against this card probably four out of six times and I always felt like there was nothing I could've done to win. It's definitely an un-fun card.
weatherlight wasn't designed for limited? Give me a break, we did tons of limited weatherlight tourneys at my card shop in a small eastern Washington town. "Imperial Armour" not on this list a transitivity!
Spikeshot Elder is not a common. Being that you could get 1-3 Spikeshot Goblins in triple Mirrodin consistently versus one Elder every draft or so in triple Scars draft is very relevant.
Sprout Swarm definitely should have been an HM. But the most degenerate deck I've ever drafted was in triple Nemesis with seven Accumulated Knowledges.
very disappointing they make the point to "honorable mention" kavik's torch but fail to mention the more recent imperial armor, just 1 set before their tempest cutoff, which I think that format without any way to remove a 6 toughness creature, they did straight weatherlight draft or sealed then, was arguably the most dominate card of all the ones they listed. LSV didn't play during wild west and it shows.

You are correct. Although Pestilence was uncommon in Battle Royale aswell, but I'm unsure whether or not that actually counts.
Pestilence was common in Alpha. It wasn't uncommon until like 6th, and I think that was its only uncommon printing.
Exactly. Delver is a build around card and powerfull when built around, though it lacks in universal use.
No Sprout Swarm?
yeah they clearly missed that. Sprout swarm is for sure better than most/all cards on that list.
They even feature Future Sight on a list of the worst sets simply because of Sprout Swarm destroying Time Spiral limited. They must've forgot about it because Sprout Swarm makes the format so boring.

Great video! I especially agreed with Pestilence. It got no respect when it was in Type II (Standard) just because it wasn’t a rare.
Empyrial Armor, I'd say was top all time, it was pre-tempest but should have been mentioned. In a set with almost no removal beside low damage burn, playing this on the 3rd turn usually was gg.
most interesting top 8 in a long time

Hmm, no sprout swarm? Not like I played the format a lot, and the card was only in the last booster of the set, but it seemed completely bonkers :)
Errant Ephemeron maybe. I didn't play back then, but Empyrial Armor?
#1 was revealed, me "SAY WHAT! I seriously thought that card was a rare!"
Sweet top 8, always good :)
@yokokuramaful uncommon right?
No mention of Rancor?
I think Rancor should have been on this list.
I think they restricted it to one card per limited format, so they took Pestilence over Rancor since black was very good in Urza and Pestilence just made it even better. They also forgot Waterfront Bouncer in Masques, but Troubled Healer made the good decks even more broken.
Your like capsize, im like wait o.0 wtf i have like 4 of these right here THEY'RE COMMON THEYRE SOO GOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
that is all
@Kryptnyt I couldn't agree with you more.
Top 8 cards reprinted in Dark Ascension for flavor purposes.
No Muldrifter?
Disappointed to not see Mirage on here, but understand I guess. Way to much sweet commons in that block that it would of been half mirage Empyrial Armor, Torch, Ray of Command, etc.
I personally think priest of titania should have gotten an honorable mention... but I just like my elves
can someone explain to me the splice thing
Top 8 rogue decks conley has built in order of awesomeness :P
waterfront bouncer?
Delver of Secrets and Rancor (was at a time a common) are cards I would have put in the top 8
SirHappyBob delver was not great in draft
No sprout swarm?
Hm, what about Sprout Swarm. I've seen it being pretty insane in TSP-drafts.
It was such a shame because I actually enjoyed TSTSTS and TSTSPC limited, but future sight detroyed everything with Sprout Swarm. Who keeps proliferating the -1/-1 counters on LSV?
Last time I checked, 3 was greater than 1
@moghlcptrplt I used to think very highly of Rancor, but people kept telling me it wasn't that good.
Sprout Swarm. Should have been at least an honorable mention.
weatherlight wasn't designed for limited? Give me a break, we did tons of limited weatherlight tourneys at my card shop in a small eastern Washington town. "Imperial Armour" not on this list a transitivity!
4:16 Solemn Simularcum?
Spikeshot Elder is not a common. Being that you could get 1-3 Spikeshot Goblins in triple Mirrodin consistently versus one Elder every draft or so in triple Scars draft is very relevant.
I think ray of command was at the same level of torch in mirage
ugh, no Sprout Swarm... this list is a fuckup
as much as Troubled Healer was busted, it's not on par with Sprout Swarm.
Gnaw to the Bone, I know LSV drafts mill in Innistrad so he knows how freaking broken that card can be in the right deck. 28 life for 2G.
I am going to guess Journey to Nowhere
I never found Delver that good in draft, the decks that abuse him tend to have to be built around him which was much harder to do in draft.
Sprout Swarm
Chimney Imp. He stands alone
What about DOOM BLADE?!
For it to be better than Goblin, you need 6 or more mana. It means something, but it's clearly worse.
Snapcaster mage 18 $ BibleThump
It's so they'll let a weaker spell through, then they can't counter the spliced spell.
Rats of Rath is the best card against capsize
They are reprinting Rolling Thunder! :D
gravony township
@yahoonoahgmail i agree. Rancor was just disheartening to look at from across the table. Every little dork you play becomes a fat, trampling threat.
Geist of St traft-$6.00
ah pestilence, i have 3 copies of that best of a card ^_^
Big miss on Rancor
What about sprout swarm that card was a nightmare.
LOL as soon as this video started up, I skipped around to see which place Spoutswarm held. I was very surprised to see no Sproutswarm.
Sprout Swarm definitely should have been an HM. But the most degenerate deck I've ever drafted was in triple Nemesis with seven Accumulated Knowledges.
Lol
LSV tell me your diet plan... no more fleshbag marauder
very disappointing they make the point to "honorable mention" kavik's torch but fail to mention the more recent imperial armor, just 1 set before their tempest cutoff, which I think that format without any way to remove a 6 toughness creature, they did straight weatherlight draft or sealed then, was arguably the most dominate card of all the ones they listed.

LSV getting hotter and hotter for each day?
Devouring Greed was so rigged from CoK!
Top Worst carts plz =(.
Sprout Swarm
