I always get excited about this episodes! 😊 Serene Grace is an ability that doubles the likelihood of attacks with secondary effects to activate said effects. For example, Flamethrower is an attack with a 10% chance of inflicting a BURN status condition on the target. If a Pokémon with Serene Grace uses it, though, then it gets a 20% chance of burning the target. You can always check the description of an attack to see if it has a secondary effect.

You might be able to disrupt calamity's evolution loop with a rare candy. Heard it in a "evolve every level" randomizer race once. Worth a shot to get calamity back on the team! Love the vids as always
I was going to say this too. There are some randomisers where you can break the loop with a rare candy. Not sure if this is one of them. You picked up a rare candy this episode, too (36:03). It's in your medicine pocket.

I’ve never played the original Red, just Yellow and FireRed. And I played FireRed a lot as a child, and I’ve always associated _Tangela_ with water because it can be found in that patch of grass that you mentioned that you surf south from Pallet Town to get to in that game. I also played through SoulSilver recently and did a lot of EV training in that grass, and I’m sorry to have to tell you that the other Pokémon that can be found there in this game is Mr. Mime, lol.

Answering your question about being a child in-game: yep, all the Pokémon game protagonists are at least 11 years old at the time of their games :P the main line games eldest protagonists age known are around 14yo from what I know. Lovely work as always!
The kimono girls definitely had the eeveelutions in the original game. They did make them relevant to one or both of lugia and ho-oh in the remake, so maybe they moved the fight there? I don't remember HG/SS well enough. If they removed it entirely that would be a very weird change. I need to finish Platinum to do my trade chain from Sapphire up to Pokemon Home, to save my Mew I got from an event at Toys R Us fittingly enough (and also the only shiny I've ever found naturally, Crobat), and hoo boy is Cynthia a wall. Curse's gimmick is that it works differently when a ghost pokemon uses it; ghost curse cuts its own HP to put a curse on the target that cuts a quarter of its HP per turn (it's pretty nasty), while any other type using it lowers its own speed to buff attack and defense. It's weird, I don't remember another move doing something like that. "You were too buggy for me-" Kenya was unappreciative. Being way too much of a Pokemon nerd aside, I love typhlosion. Making it kind of small makes me think that maybe it doesn't get much bigger, it just gets longer as it evolves. It's protrayed as being huge but we don't have to keep that if it means we get to carry Typhlosion in a handbag.
As you progress farther into the game, if movesets become a problem, maybe you can invest some time off-screen into Voltorb Flip at the Game Corner. The TMs there are fairly busted for mid-game, but if you start struggling later on, you'll have an easy win button by teaching Ho-oh Flamethrower. Also if you're looking for some easy team add-ons later there's also the prizes there too. Great to see you so dedicated to the Crochet-Dex!

Not sure if I said it before, but that is a cool way to do fire. Pokemon Advice, both requested and not. Serene Grace affects extra effects, which are on a lot of damaging moves. For example, Bite has a chance of making the opponent Flinch. Serene Grace increases the effect. Curse is a weird move with different effects depending on whether or not the user is a Ghost type. Ghosts types lose HP and give their opponent the Curse condition. Non-Ghost types increase their attack and defense by two stages while decreasing speed by two stages. One thing to note regarding Cal. Mew can learn any TM or HM, so if you ever need an HM to progress but don't have a Pokemon in your team that can learn it, Cal can help you. BTW, there's a gift Pokemon in Cianwood City if you talk to a guy in one of the houses and if you go back to Goldenrod, Bill should have an Eevee for you.
Generation 2, the Kimono Girls do have eeveelutions! I think they do in HGSS too, you fought a Team Rocket grunt lol Also thought to add: there is a gift Eevee that you can grab in Goldenrod! It's in a house given to you by an NPC on the left side of town

it looks like the only way to break crisis out of the evolution loop is with a shiny stone… which is only available after you beat the elite 4. there is a whole second region to explore after that point, though! maybe crisis will get to evolve again? :P

You should have taught Calamity when she was still a Mew since Mew can learn every move. So she could have still been useful; at least a little. You'll be missed, Cal!

So I looked up where you can find Everstones and it seems the only reliable way to get them is 2nd place in the bug catching contest. I think it could be fun to use this to bring Calamity back: Make a whole video of only playing the bug catching contest, Crisis being your pokemon. You only make the final pokemon you enter for the contest, not every pokemon you catch, until you finished the contest with 6 different pokemon (it does not become part of your team, though) You cut the video so that we only see the place you made with each Pokemon at the end of the video. If you get at least 2 Everstones, give one to calamity while it is a useful pokemon. Ho-Oh would be great to have a Pokemon for Fly all the time and the legendary stats should help in case you are underleveled if you struggle against some trainers. First, I think it would be very interesting to see you playing the bug catching contest and what results you get with the randomized Pokemon. Second, I enjoy you playing the game a lot and another pokemon in your team that does not evolve into something new would help you to play more before you get your last pokemon to make each run, especially with Kenya getting boosted exp.
So there are two different moves named curse, it's very confusing. One curse is a ghost move that halves the user's HP and drains HP from the other pokemon each turn. The other one is the one that Slowpoke was using and lowers a stat to raise a stat. I wasn't paying attention to the stats. But yeah there's two curse moves.
Don’t forget the surf Pokemon for next episode it’s going to be important! Btw have you picked the « Eevee »in Goldenrod City ?🤔 I don’t remember cuz it’s been so long! Girafarig is fav this episode it’s so cute! Too bad the evolution of it is not in this game 😢
The problem is that the way the randomizer is set up, every Ho-oh will evolve into Magnemite (I think that’s right). Doesn’t matter what evolves into the Ho-oh - even if like 10 different Pokemon all evolve into Ho-oh, all Ho-oh will become Magnemite.
Cal and Chaos are now in the same loop either way, Cal just started in a different place. So Mew might be part of that loop (and I hope so!), but if it is it will be part of Chaos's as well.

Second, I enjoy you playing the game a lot and another pokemon in your team that does not evolve into something new would help you to play more before you get your last pokemon to make each run, especially with Kenya getting boosted exp.

So there are two different moves named curse, it's very confusing. One curse is a ghost move that halves the user's HP and drains HP from the other pokemon each turn. The other one is the one that Slowpoke was using and lowers a stat to raise a stat. I wasn't paying attention to the stats. But yeah there's two curse moves.
It's actually all one move. It's just got a different effect based on the user's type. Only Ghost does the damaging version.
That's both interesting and annoying XD

Here's my problem. Only calamity has the evolution into Mew... So I question whether or not mew is part of her evolution loop or not
The problem is that the way the randomizer is set up, every Ho-oh will evolve into Magnemite (I think that’s right). Doesn’t matter what evolves into the Ho-oh - even if like 10 different Pokemon all evolve into Ho-oh, all Ho-oh will become Magnemite.
Cal and Chaos are now in the same loop either way, Cal just started in a different place. So Mew might be part of that loop (and I hope so!), but if it is it will be part of Chaos's as well.
I probably already commented this, but when you're done the dex (or want something weird) I hope you do a series with the pokemon fusions. 😂
