  • In this video, I talk through some of the updates I've recently made to my bedroom, including the current challenge: covering up the broken AC unit in an aesthetically pleasing way. I also talk about how I love approach interior design in my home, sitting with ideas for some time, and implementing changes slowly. It's okay to change your mind!

I also mention a few products I've used in the refresh, sharing those below, including my affiliate link to Revival.

I really like the picture frame ideas. I think the striped fabric has my top vote. A couple of things that came to mind as you noodled:
    1. you would still see the AC from the pillow when you look up. Could you also create depth on the side of the frame to cover the AC completely from visibility? I know this is a me thing and wouldn’t necessarily translate to a you thing, but still being able to see that when laying down would bug me. Maybe almost shadowboxing the frame could also help you hang it directly on the wall around the AC instead of from the ceiling.
    2. I also really love that rug in the room with what you have updated, but it might add a lot of weight back to a space that you’re trying to lighten- both literally and visually. I think it would be absolutely lovely to layer on top of the new cream revival rug you have! That’s such a West Elm aesthetic thing, but those two rugs would layer so well if you still wanted that in the room.

Personally I love the rug idea! I think it goes the best with your other artwork and colors. I went through the exact same thing in my home with those dang through-wall air conditioners! They are so hard to decorate around. I love the solutions you've come up with!

I really like the rug idea, i think it would provide the most visual interest. other than the ceiling you could also get a curtain rod to hang it. The first thing I thought tho, was to put a really chunky canvas over the top. I have a few that are really thick and stick out from the wall a lot. It seems like you could just rest it on there. maybe add some adhesive but not have to bother with the ceiling hanging or having the gap

I love the rug idea - I have a rug hanging behind my bed. It hangs from a dowel attached to the back of the rug with an eye screw on either side and a piece of picture-hanging wire. All of it is invisible when the rug is hung up, and it looks great! I also thought of another option if you have extra curtains or other large fabric around, you could just hang a curtain over the part of the wall with the a/c. I've seen some cool images of curtains behind beds on pinterest!

You could attach a curtain rod to the wall and hang anything you'd like! I think I'd do a floor to ceiling graphic print that ties your room together.

I would try out the striped fabric option first, as it already ties in with the room.

Could you attach it directly onto the aircon… an perhaps but as of led light behind it to give a glow from behind the picture so it look more intentional as to why it is off the wall and not flush to be wall like the others?
