  • TRADITIONAL BELLS VERSION: • Mike Oldfield - Far Ab...
    Odd Eternal mix for a different mood!
    Yes, the slow is intentional. There's also 4 versions of the track mixed together.

      Then you would be happy to discover Camel. Andy Latimer is right up there with Mike. AndI say this even though I've even been an Oldfield fan since 1979, starting with Platinum and then listening to the albums in more or less chronological order. However, I somewhat lost the interest after TB III (except from "Return to Ommadawn").
      I especially recommend the three concept albums "The Snow Goose", "Nude", and Stationary Traveller", and the single songs "Ice", "Fox Hill", and "Lady Fantasy", all three smashingly performed live on the "In From the Cold Tour" DVD from 2014.
      You should also check out the pianist Gus Fogle's YT-channel. Some years ago, he and a buddy on bass performed "Amarok" live. Just the two of them! Afterwards, Fogle couldn't almost stand to take the ovation, he was so exhausted.

      @@marinahill4254 Thank you. Oldfield was my first big discovery and very much settled my musical preferences. Before that I was a little lost since I wasn't really into "louder" bands like Slade, Sweet, Kiss, The Rolling Stones, The Who, e.t.c., and I wasn't into pop music either (no intellectual challenges).
      So I became very happy when I discovered Oldfield and the whole ProgRock segment.
      I can also recommend Tangerine Dream. "Tangram" is a two-piece composition, not unlike Oldfield's earlier work, and the song "Mojave Plan" is sheer magic with scales.

    Whether or not people like this or not is entirely a matter of personal taste. What seems to have been ignored so far is the skill required to manipulate four different audio sources at different speeds to produce an overall mix where no individual instrument sounds out of tune. To then marry up the imagery and make it fit with the music is an additional talent. Yes I prefer the original, but respect for what has been achieved here. Different, but certainly not odd!

    I really like that you didn't forget to include Carrie Melbourne playing the Chapman Stick from 9:01. The sound of this instrument isn't in the world premiere videos, even though she's on stage there too!

    This is waaay slow compared to the live version. Don't know why it is so slow.

    • @Chappomusic
      @Chappomusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know why , it’s deliberate cause when I put the speed to 1,25 x it’s also terrible to listen to. Too fast and false . Let’s forget this one . Though it would be a nice remix by a fan . But : his taste and if the maker loves it , ok. But for me it’s a no-go.
