How to use your XBOX One Controller without BATTERIES

- Hi, this video shows you how you can continue to use your Xbox One Controller even when the batteries run out. 2 methods are used in the video. The 1st method shows you connecting the controller up to the Xbox One console and then the 2nd method shows you connecting the controller up to a power supply using a USB charger.

I knew about the plugging into the console to get back in the action, but I didn't even THINK about plugging it in to the wall - this completely changes how I'm going to have things setup!

Brilliant 'how to' video, answered all my questions including putting my mind at ease about not removing the batteries. I was originally watching this through Google, but specifically came into TH-cam to give it a like, cheers mate this will really help me not churn through batteries as I'm stuck inside with COVID-19.

I got a rayovac for 9.99 rechargeable walmart. My test it lasted 5 days of use and I charge 10 times still working.
The Battery can be recharge 500 times and must use a slow charger.
This was very informative. It cleared all the doubts I had and some I hadn't thought about too.

man, finally someone explaining exactly how things work. bunch of kids saying that you plug the usb cable and your Duracell batteries will start charging. Thanks, that bottom connector is for a Xbox chat/headset adapter.

i found that the more you use the charger while playing it just gets really loose, i had to resort to this and well pretty much the more i played it got to the point where it wouldn’t even stay in the controller anymore

Jays I think it’s the usb cable, i was using a cheap android charger not even an official one. so that’s why it got loose. i would say try buy a branded wire made for the xbox but it probably wouldn’t do much.
Sorry for this question but Is it better off to use the android charger cable hooked on to the Xbox controller without the batteries or with, I can't remember if I used it with batteries or not, but for a while i was using it with the charger. My controller was dead permanently it was fried and it smelt like a burning battery fluid from the back.
I got a pack of cheap batteries and they were good for maybe 1.5 game sessions of many hours.
but they were so loose. the Duracell and Engerizer batteries fit snug and good. these cheap ones wobbled all over. so much so that if I shook the Controller even a bit, it would disconnect.
I was searching youtube to fix this problem then found this video. I was going to skip but decided why not.

can you use 2 wired controllers at the same time ?and is it a 100% sure that putting the micro usb charger to xbox one controller with normal batteries wont blow up?

I find the best cable to use is the micro USB cable for the Play and Charge Kit, as it's about 10 feet.
I use my portable power bank so that I don't have to get a power supply

And the power from the wall which is usually around a couple of hundred volts won't overload the controller handset by damaging the circuits inside or the possibility electric shocking the player? I'm guessing the plug filters a limited amount of volts through like it said 5 volts?

DADDYROCKY oh it’s been a tough ride with Xbox lol, I sold it to get my PS4 back haha. But I enjoyed playing claw on an Xbox controller more than a PS4 controller. PlayStation is more for me than Xbox is and I would say, which ever one you prefer get that console because there both great!

But my experience with the Xbox one s was great, I had hand issues so I switched from PlayStation and I couldn’t afford the Xbox one x at the time. But I then realized I had everything on my PlayStation and I’ve used PlayStation for my whole gaming life.
So even though the Xbox one s was great! I sold it to get a ps4 slim die to preference overall. I now have the Ps5 so time goes pretty quickly 😅
But My advice is if you can’t afford the One X or the Series X, go with a cheaper version like the Xbox series s or the One S for now and work your way up to the newer ones. The series s is basically the newer version of the one s.

So I got a doc that holds one controller and it came with one battery pack so when my battery dies I can take it out and charge it in my other controller on dock and just plug USB cable straight to controller to use while battery charges? If so that is amazing I won’t have to buy a second battery pack?

Will the power from the outlet transfer to the controller so after I unplug the cord from the controller will it work?
If you leave it plugged in, without using it as it's connected to a power source, will it gradually charge to full capacity so if you want t use it later you can unplug it and it will be at full battery?

I don't have enough room to see if this is the case but I use my xbox in a 2nd room through a stud wall, my controller signal wirelessly used to drop out occasionally, it doesn't seem to be doing that by plugging it into the extension lead, could you confirm if it is genuinely giving me extra signal distance or if im imagining it

Wow, I have a question, 2X AA batteries are 1.5 volts each, so 3 volts together, surely running 5 volts into the controller can't be good for it. I had a 9 volt digital picture frame, I plugged in an adaptor that had adjustable voltage because the original one broke, by accident it was on 12 volts not 9, the protection diode went up in smoke, that is only 3 volts difference???

Some micro usbs are different sizes so you might have a USB that's bigger than what you can use for the controller
Joey Trevino there are two types of micro USB one is a data cable and one is a charging cable if using your data cable this will work but it is not a good solution try to buy a charger and cable
