Hi Hiram, great videos. You are the only guy I know that goes through all the steps that you use to rebuild these transmission, hell some you tubers don't even tell you what torque to use on bolts because they are scared of being sued. Any chance you can add the links of the kits you use in the description, so we can locate these parts. You are so advanced in knowledge that sometimes its easy to assume we already know all this stuff. Again you are the boss of transmissions, by far the most informative videos on you tube, keep up the great work.
Great video. It's been a while since it was publshed but in case: what do you do to the small shift solenoids? Do you clean them? And if so, with what?
Saludos.
Good vids you got :) .. when driving to long with that bad burned oil things is gonna go bad, flushed mine on a xc70 2005 and it got good as new, was lucky i guess, did a oil change and flush before the bad oil went to bad ;)
Buenos días desde españa seria posible la aisin 55/50 sn volvo video en español? gracias se nota la profesionalidad en el desmontaje y las mediciones de presiones
Hoping you'll see this and give me your thoughts. AW55-50sn will not move until engine rpm is around 2500 in forward gears, reverse will only slightly pull at 4000+ rpm. It will move forward just a little once you go above 2500 rpm but acts like a manual transmission would if the clutch were slipping. Main lube pressure is low, sits around 2 psi in all gears at idle but does increase with engine rpm up to around 20psi. SLT pressure in drive is around 2 psi and does change with engine rpm but always falls back to 2-3psi. C1 pressure in drive never goes above 20psi even with high engine rpm. I have removed the valve body and inspected, oil was burnt but no debris were found. Solenoids Ohm good at around 5.5 on all. I'm thinking the torque converter has failed but considering trying to reman valve body before I replace the torque converter. Your thoughts?
Just found this thread....I have a P0741 code (Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off) for my Saab 9-3 2.0t 2006 Auto.....I think this could be the answer to my problems. Would this be the same answer for me? Thank you! M
Excellent video. I have an old BMW 7 with a zfhp30. It had always suffered from hard down shifts. Mainly 5-4. Changing the fluid many times and using an additive greatly improved it . What shift kit do you recommend? It has not got any worse over 11years and 100k miles. (Now on 201k) original transmission.
Hola necesito una gran pero urgente ayuda tengo una Chevrolet Colorado Pick Up año 06 y el problema es k pongo retro o drive y no se mueve al rato agarra la velocidad ya se desarmo y todo esta bien , tendrá alguna falla el cuerpo de válvulas o algún selenoide xfa necesito ayuda urgente Hiram o algún amigo k Lea este msj. i’m having problems with my 05 nissan maxima. cars starts good when cold but when hot it starts acting up, revving high on the road and when switching from D to R or R to D it delays and bangs in. i have codes p0726 p0882 and U1000, but could it be the whole valve body ?
I own a 2012 Chevy Sonic with a 1.8L engine. The transmission suddenly quit shifting past 2nd and no reverse. This happened while driving on the freeway. The dealer wants to replace the transmission--$4000.00. I noticed that the transmission was shifting hard into reverse before this actually happened. I was wondering if you could give me an idea what to check? Could the problem be a solenoid? Or do you think I need some hard parts? Thanks
Maestro Gutierrez. I have a 2004 Nissan Quest SE 3.5L V6 took it to a shop to have a code reading they pulled code P0726. They told me is a bad solenoid? symptoms are when the van is cold is fine but when I drive it for 15-20 mins feels a hard hit like when I get to a complete stop is shakes at the downshift point the RPM gauge even moves back and forth in THE 1 RPM GAUGE. what do you think is wrong?
Hey how's it going got to say like the videos u make 👍have a question I have a 2005 maxima with the same issues jumping 1-2 and hard shifts wanted to know how would I know if the valve body is bad thanks
Hello Mr. Gutierrez maybe you can help me I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE 127K miles, and recently I started having some hard shifting with my transmission the CEL came on and the code that popped out it's P0731 Gear One Incorrect Ratio I was wondering if maybe you could tell me what I need to do to fix this issue because I took my car to a transmission shop and first they told me that I need to replace the Valve Body and now they are telling me that the whole transmission needs to be replace so I don't know what to do, I would appreciate it if you could help me thank you very much in advance have a nice day
Hi Hiram .I have a question .Can i put Solenoid block with marking A on transmision AW55-50SN with solenoid block without marking. Is a 01 volvo v-70xc.
Hiram, I just replaced the valve body in my 2003 Volvo XC70 with a Sonnax reman unit. For the first day all was well, then suddenly threw a p0750 code, SLT signal missing. Would you suspect a problem with the connector? I'm inclined not to suspect the solenoid itself, being a fresh rebuild, but I'm curious what you would think. Great info you've given us, here. Thanks.
I am sorry for the bother.but i have a 2005 nissan quest.when its cold it drives perfect but after it warms up the car thumps into gears and then stay stuck on 4 gear.after a stop it takes forever to catch speed because of that reason.the code that is showing is p0744.please any help would be very helpfull.have a beutiful blessed day.
Can you explain the terms harsh, bump, flare? They are found in the guides for tuning the valve body solenoids, but I do not quite understand what it means. I repaired aw55-50sn on the Renault Laguna 2.0T, it remains only to adjust the solenoids. Now there is only one problem - switching 1-2 with a kick. And advise, please, any English-speaking forum of experts in automatic transmission.
flare is when you press the gas and engine starts revving up high almost like you are out of gear or start revving like it's going to shift but, keeps revving then does shift THEN does shift but, the car doesn't go any faster
Got a 2005 Chevy Equinox, had some pretty burned fluid in it, I had the motor apart so I went ahead and drained the fluid, once all back together a month later I hear pump whine, then it lost all gears, I drained the fluid again it was real dirty. Got all my gears back for a short time, then gone again, drained and added fluid a 3rd and 4th time with some idling in between. Fluid came out clean. Went around the block and it didn't make it, lost all gears again, something is getting clogged. Do you think it can be repaired by pulling the VB or am I looking at a complete rebuild. I have no experience in transmissions, except what I learned at tech school. What happened was the cooler lines were both crimped from a wreck in the front and they never got replaced.
that new ATF acts like a cleaner. you would have to been physcic to change it again before that month. you could try cleaning the VB and see what happens! though it's a year later. wonder if you sold, traded it junked it for fixed it?
@@cdoublejj Still have it, I ordered a good used trans from Ebay and it arrived broken, the seller is fighting me saying I broke it, the delivery guy notated it was damaged on delivery, so this project in on hold. I have to get Ebay involved to get my money back then try to find another one or rebuild mine, a shop wanted 7000 to do it, fuck that!! I can pull the VB and see a lot from there with my bore scope, but the bottom line is its burned up, the old fluid burned and coated the inside, the new fluid broke it lose and clogged everything up. I thought I might get it flushed out by changing the fluid a few times, nope, its bad.
hello Mr Gutierrez is there any way to contact you in a private way ,it s for consulting about a AW55-50 transmission , try and error valve body failures ,we are from Venezuela ,and GM orphans .we will apreciate your help. Do you speak spanish ?
Hiram. Thanks for the great information. I've got a Saab 9-3 2003 with this AW55. I'm struggling with this car. The car acts like it is slipping all the time in D or R. Once in a great while maybe 1% of the time it acts like it works. But then it stops driving. I have a Tech2 GM and Saab diagnostic computer. It shows Solenoids information and pressure and currents. But the car refuses to move. Can I send you some screen shots showing various pressures? Is my problem the linear solenoids sticking causing my no movement?
I know this is old but I have seen the mechanical valves inside the body stick which would cause a blockage and account for low line pressure. Low line pressure = the car will not move. I'd rebuild the valve body or find another used one somewhere.
Hey did you ever get your saab fix mine is kinda having the same issue runs good at first but when up to temp starts slipping kinda ive had codes in the past tht where related to the solenoid did a flush and code would go away would run fine then got this problem now
I have a Volvo v50 - it works perfectly but somestimes only when warm i experience delayed forward response when i engage drive from N R or P - A non Volvo mechanic replaced the fluid - could it be he did not reset counter and adapt
Great video!! Explained very well. Any advice - I have a AW 55-50NS / RE5F22A out ofo a 06 nissan maxima, runs great until operating temp reached. Hard engagement of Drive and Reverse. Hard shifts 1-2,2-3, and sometime neutral like experience going into 4th. 5th is solid. Erratic tight shift points, and hard down shifts. 6 trans codes thrown (0797 Pressure Control Solenoid "C" stuck open, 0744 Torque converter clutch circuit intermittent, 0735 Gear 5 incorrect ration, 0780 Shift malfunction, 0733 Gear 3 incorrect ration, 0726 Engine spped sensor range / performance - internal electronic anomaly) 1) Odds it is just valve body? 2) Could all these codes be because of Pressure Solenoid "C"! ( Linear SLT?) 3) Should I just replace the valve body 4)Or does Sonnax valve body Zip kits work for these things?
Thanks for the video Hiram I've replaced my VB and solenoids on my 05 max and it slams in reverse and hard/rpm rev on up shifts. Please help what do you recommend

Yes, most of the time adjustments are required. I would reset everything first then drive it to learn itself, if it has shifting issues then adjustments will need to be made.

Def the same Solenoid replacement seen in this video. All the Maximas from 2004 to 2006 had this issue.
Dear Sir, do you have a video of how to remove the automatic gear box solenoid from a XC70 or similar volvo?
My friend is Brazilian you have this manual that you are using, you can send it in pdf mode
I think I'll have to stick to service information to get my code definitions cause I still got a phone with a slide out keyboard, LOL.

How about the filters this type of transmision does it have
It's internal. Can't be changed unless you disassemble the transmission. It's bolted to the pump.

What were the Buber of turns on the end screw for the solenoids. Thank you
I didn't use any gasket on my valve body. Will there be any symptoms?
Thank you for your response! *****
Besides swapping out the solinoids is there anything I should do
Install a Transgo shift kit, valve body gaskets and the 3 linear solenoids.
