fear is derived from lack of knowledge. therefore, we should always be looking for information and putting it into practice. thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge .
BRILLIANT video!! If you feel the fear it is surmountable work on it slowly. If it is not avoid the situation. Also nice to hear our "hero" still has "issues" with situations from long ago. Hasn't stopped you diving!!!! Stay safe Achim.
I am afraid of big mouth wannabe pros around and humbolt calmars... ^^ Zero vis is not nice and even stressful for me when I guide dives. Very nice video, thank you!
Real and honest thanks!. All or nearly all divers have fear at some point. Defenetly training and education with the right instructor is key. As well as becoming aware of your knowledge and lack of. So getting a good insight. Completely agree with your views on the top.
Nice vid and message, as always. - Off topic: Are these red-bellied piranha in the aquarium in the background? If so - quite active, thought there were rather lame, usually.
humans have evolved and improved as specie because 1. _fear has keep us alive from predators. 2._ Humans have recognized our limits and challenge ourselves to be better. Nothing negative on feel fear, is human being. Take as a point to grow and improve.
I have a horrendous fear of diving. I think it has to do with being stuck underwater. Of course it is my mind. I work with my mind to work through it. Yet, I want to break it, but diver instructors are mostly quick to go through everything and so, you are too quick to finish. Although I love the underwater world and it is soothing. I love everything of it. Stopped trying.
Hi Achim fear how it effects people good topic everybody has a fear threshold and the person has to deal with it themselves I have been in situations diving brail hung up under fishing vessels where I have thought "OK this is where I am going to die " and I was amazingly calm then it was "what do I have to do to get myself out of here ditched my gear and made a free assent then get my back up gear go down and cut my gear out It is later on I get scared because I am to busy working the situation at the time " boy that was close" My biggest fear and the fear I had for years growing up I seemed to be attracted to women that turned out to be adbesolutely insane! Every thing would be fine they create problems where nothing exists ? (There must be a book or something they pass around ) You come home one day and they go adbesolutey nuts for no reason After a while it is "Ok this chick is nuts time to bail " So lbail out of the relationship A few days later they track me down and tell me "I am just running away from my problems I tell them " that is right you are the problem I am running away!" Have a good day !
My fear was heights. I did not like to see the bottom unless it was shallow. I could dive with zero viz, in the dark(though I never did) and feel fine yet looking down on a wide open underwater vista to depth gave me the heebie jeebies. Might be because I was rubbish with buoyancy.
would you like to be invited to dive in poland in february for example? there is lock down now until end of january. up to 55m (you can go 100), temp about 3 deg C , duration 30'- 45' please let me know

Putting metal music at the start of a diving video is the most German thing ever lol.
Its better than this meteor kind of intro they had before.. a real pain in the ass and much too loud. I like the newer one. :)
@@Liquid188 still to long tho
@@Liquid188 actually loved that intro :D
Thank you for your honesty, if it saves one life it is more than worth it.
Thanks for sharing your experinces !
"What am I afraid of? Hmm, very tight restrictions in zero vis" So just the scariest imaginable set of conditions is all.
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Like your discussions, and how you take apart a thought🙂 great point of view!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Great video as always 😊 I keep it in mind when I encounter anxiety.
Well said. fear it to each person responsible to iether accept and avoid or address and concur
Fear is healthy in diving. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
Disagree. Caution is healthy. Fear is not. Fear leads to panic.

Underwater is not a natural environment for humans. Fear can lead to panic which is lethal when diving. I'd say caution is good, real fear isn't.
Hey Achim,
What kind of line do you use for attaching a bolt snap to a hose and tackling? Which diameter (mm) of line do you recommend?
