I wonder whether we will be given "heavy steel plates" to bolster roofs and the like for meteor attacks - adding some layers to roofing in the purge-base is already bring planned. I wonder whether doggie pets would be able to smell invisible characters? It should be a Thing. All weapons remain starmetal, including arrows. I do wish we could make our sorcerer thralls cast lightning and specifically target Meteor Mages. All archers equipped with noxious arrows. Good for all including Meteor Mages. I suspect there will be a run on basebuilds in cave systems and under ledges where possible.
@@GrymmsPlace I'm not too sure, I can't say I've seen how northern meteors affect base roofs normally, but I didn't notice too much roof damage this time around, so I wonder if they're only able to do damage once they hit the ground to prevent it just decimating your upper levels. I've seen a few suggestions about pets sniffing out invisible enemies, I quite like the idea. I don't think these changes will shake up the PvE purge 'meta' as such, but I think it'll be very interesting to see how people interact with mechanics like the golems and the meteors. I think the meteors themselves will be quite popular for farming star metal, and likely birth some purpose-built farming designs
@@Eradicati0nn on my server i decided to build structures near all the obelisks to house map rooms. The one i built up north near the frost temple obelisk got absolutely pummeled by meteors. I just gave up on trying to maintain the building and let it fall into disrepair. Half the building is gone, the map room placeable has been destroyed. Every time i pass by the building i take a look and a little more is missing every time 😅 So yeah... building in meteor zones up north can prove disastrous
in theory could you build a foundation circle the size of the treasury with open skies, and the treasury in the middle. then build a base around that to farm the star caller wave for star metal?
Great video. I am really concerned. Are you planing on making a video on how to build a purge base for chapter 4. What worries me the most is the meteorites killing my Thralls. Thank you
Fantastic video thank you for making it and giving ideas. Maybe have more extended archer towers to try and ward off the golems so if they do die they die further away from your main base.
Archer towers would be pretty good, especially deeper in the field with Star Metal arrows, should really keep those golems at bay. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thx for video Mate. Variety is always welcome, any game where we have little variety of opponents gets poor ratings. Therefore, adding three more types of invaders to Conan is a cosmetic advantage in itself for me. If their mechanics are refined, it will be even more enjoyable. However, meteor showers are a bit controversial. On the one hand, an incredible amount of emotions, because the threat is really real and painful, but on the other hand, if we do not manage to eliminate the magician quickly, or, possibly, he catches some bug and cannot be destroyed, then our the base built with the sweat of your brow will collapse. Fortunately, we decide what level of purge we are ready for, so players will know exactly what to expect. Generally, a very pleasant addition to the purge and I just hope it works properly.
I'm hopeful it will work properly on release, I've not seen any issues with it right now, and there's always the failsafe of yoinking your treasure out of the coffer. I wouldn't be surprised if most people start building purpose-built purge bases more often now for the purge though, rather than risk their home base
so a meteor mage drops star metal nodes on your base? for all the trouble of repairing it, might be worth it to farm free resources at your front door.
My thoughts exactly, might be a good farming opportunity if there's a way to have a tiny build to avoid the meteors and kill all the other purge mobs whilst keeping the starcaller alive
I would imagine most people will probably work out a farming strategy like that. There's still risk to it of course, but farmable star metal in this fashion is very valuable to have
when i see the champions comes i kinda whish we can get a thrall formation like a shieldwall to our own thralls when to have a little fun wthen the purge comes
Funnily enough, the Vanguard waves are marked internally as "ShieldWall", at least from the admin panel. A phalanx of enemy or friendly NPCs would be really cool to see
it could be so nice you you could make a shield wall with you thralls and other formations and some how like the champion a leader in the front to boost them a tiny bit in defences@@Eradicati0nn
Did they improve pathing at all? Is it any easier to spawn purges? Also, do you think the altar defensive bubbles would have any effect on meteor showers, or do you think they can be canceled by casting another area spell like fog or lightning storms in the same area?
I'm not too sure, there wasn't anything in the patch notes but if it's incremental tweaks they might have kept them quiet to see the natural response. For what it's worth, I didn't have any issues in the test area, even when purges spawned further away than I thought was viable. I believe god bubbles were removed, and I don't think large AOE spells would be able to dispel a meteor storm, I'd imagine they get overruled by the meteors
Lol, after watching this video I think I'll never unlock the high tier purges 😬 specially the 9... I've spent thousands of hours building my base and I seriously don't want to see that destroyed by a meteor rain... considering the reward from the purge is absolutely nonsense. Maybe I'll build a new coffer outside the walls but I simply think I'll stick with usually 3/5 tier purges like I usually did til today.
I don't you can. From memory, they don't have any drops, same as most other purge enemies. They're quite weak, so I imagine it's a deliberate choice so lower level players can't run easy purges and get a high tier armor set
Are the Purge rewards improved, to balance the greater threat? It seems churlish to add this much more wrecking potential to the Purge without some added rewards to justify what seems to be a steep increase in difficulty.
Not directly, at least not from what I've heard. The obvious big jump in loot is a guaranteed Star Metal farm, alongside a reliable source of Ironstone and Blood Crystal. I do think the Star Metal is a good reward for the meteor wave, though it does somewhat skew the reward structure, where you would expect to see good rewards in the end chests
The rewards from the chests seem largely the same, though I've not done a proper test for it. Star metal is obviously a big plus to the loot pool, though kinda shifts the reward structure in a weird way. I expect we'll see loot improvements in the future
I'm definitely not opposed to it, though I can imagine their ability to fight wouldn't be as great as it seems on paper, a lot of sorcerers rely on mobs or distance
Not yet, though this likely isn't the last purge update. I think they mentioned briefly in the stream that they hadn't got thrall-manned ballistas or trebs ready, so I assume that either purge avatars has the same issue of not being ready yet, or will come with purge trebuchets
Ah good times. Chapter 4 is looking pretty solid, you do a great job on these videos. I am curious how much damage the meteors do to thralls, and if armor mitigates the damage from them. I just have bad memories of that alchemist purge back in the day, and how much damage they did with demon fire orbs.
Thanks Dobby! I'm not too sure on thralls, I did notice meteors landing close to my player character once or twice and it didn't do as much damage as I expected, though it would need to be tested more to get a reliable idea of the damage. Just from my testing though, If feel like the meteors have been nerfed compared to the ones in the north, just so it doesn't immediately kill everything and obliterate your base
@@MadPirateShin Ah, thanks Shin! I'm not too sure if that function will stay in the game or if it's an oversight, but if growth is poor they'll probably not be too desirable anyway

Taking a break is the best thing to do in that case, it's understandable given the mess that was the last chapter tbh. I'm hopeful this chapter will launch alright, then there's the new Age in June/July this year, that might be a good time to consider jumping back in again
Starcallers, enemy explosive golems, thieves, commanders, the ballista, new camps on siptah, the Sacred Hunt event etc. I'd say we're doing alright content-wise for a chapter that wasn't planned for 😂

kinda rad.. may have to download the game again and give it a go
My Stygian Sorceress would like to learn the power to call down the stars.
It wouldn't surprise me if we get the power in the future, likely in the Age of Sorcery part two
Id love to see sorceree thralls be combat followers who cast spells in combat. I think sorcery needs a bit of a rework too
I had thieves on a tier 3 purge
Wonder calling in lightning will cancell the meteor spell

I would use the star callers on a crap base to get star metal so I don't have to venture out into the mountains.

@@Eradicati0nn nah just create a basic square and bring gold from your main base, then use the crap base to farm the star metal.
