    it's cool to the touch without a frying pan. once a hot frying pan is used then the surface is only hot due to pan to surface heat. You can't touch it after cooking. It will burn you.

    Is there a reason you put a cup of oil in the pan before searing?

    Mine never wobbled. Maybe needs an exchange. I use the pause button when I move my pan and it's perfect. I press the pause to flip food, change to another pan, or such and press to continue. Works great. Now it's second nature. I have two now and it's all I use. Nice video Jack.

    Good call regarding the immediate shut off of current when lifting the pan. My Dad's induction hob beeps when you lift the pan off, but gives you up to 30s I think before it will then assume that the pan has been removed permanently. Thanks for the review though, they rock!

    Nuwave ovens and similar convection ovens work very well. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that with a plastic dome, grease can get baked on and it does not come off easily. I currently own a Sharper Image unit with a glass bowls. Yes, it's heavier but the glass cleans up very well. I can scrub it with an abrasive pan and not have to worry about scratching it as with a plastic dome.

    The burner is "wobbly" because there is a fan on the bottom. The fan is what produces the heat and needs air to flow under the burner that is why it is "wobbly" to allow the air to circulate.

    Oh, the reason the surface cuts off is because it's testing for the pan...or that's how it works in other induction cooktops, the surface first has to detect a ferrous metal before it can heat up. It makes it energy efficient and safe that way.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not understanding induction: It's warm/hot after removing the pot/pan but not from the device itself -- the heat comes from the hot pot/pan transferring some heat to the glass cooking surface. It's that simple.
      Mine are warm also after removing the pot, but not warm enough to burn me, so no big deal as it cools off quickly once the hot pot/pan is OFF the glass cooking surface. And cools WAY faster than an electric stove's heating elements or a gas stove's cast-iron metal pot-holders.
      I don't see this as any issue whatsoever.

    Works great while camping. Camper outside gfi outlets work fine. Easy to store on camper. No need for stove or propane or fire. Safe quick and easy cleanup. Gets hot enough for fish fry. Very safe. Works great with cast iron. But not with regular pans. Advertisers don't reveal that only certain pans work. I have a lot of cast iron so I leave a skillet and fry pan in camper with it. Definitely get one. Clean ,fast, safe and hot.
    No brainer.

    Just got the 2015 1800w version of this today. Put about 3 quarts of water straight from the tap into a 5 quart pot, set it on high, and had boiling water 10 minutes later. Also, I tried raising the pot off while it was running. It just paused until I set it back on it. I did notice the heat tends to be in about a 5" diameter ring in the center. Is it the best thing ever? No. But, for potlucks or cooking something outside or where you lack a stove, I say it'll be quite handy.

    Thanks for your review. I've owned mine for about 6 months and before that a Max Burton for 2 years (it doesn't turn off when the pan is lifted, gives an error signal but then resets once the pan is replaced within several seconds after which it too will turn off). I wrote a rave review for my MB on Amazon but I like the NuWave2 PIC better and use it more often although the MB is still in top working condition. My NW2 heats more evenly with fewer hot spots and it cooks at a 40 degree higher temp too for maximum searing. How long they take to boil water depends on the original temp of the water and the temp setting, of course. The NW2 allows 10 degree incremental adjustments whereas the MB has 30 degree increments. The NW2 is great for precision deep frying and pressure cooking (something that few people know about). The NW2's electronic settings allow me to use my Fagor pressure cooker with ease as if it's an electric one. Funny, that pan that came with my NW2 developed a concave bow too during its first use so the oil always diverts to the sides.

      @billredding2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Been using my NuWave PIC 2s (1300W) sicne 2013 -- like them...AND how they are energy-efficient as they only heat the pot/pan, not the "burner" or the kitchen!
      So just recently, I decided to get 2 the PIC Gold units (1500W). Not the newest 1800W "Platinum" one though as most of my cooking is low-medium-medium-high heat only.

  • @tty23
    @tty23 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Induction cooktops themselves don't get hot, the heat is in the pans itself. Since aluminum is a non ferrous metal, so aluminum pans do not work with induction cooktops unless the bottom of the pan contains a ferrous metal. The surface gets hot do to heat transfer, from the pan to the surface, but you could have boiled the water with a piece of paper between the pan and the surface, provided the pan doesn't get hot enough to burn the paper.

  • @priceblack6246

    it is not cool to touch once you cook on it. heat from pan makes the surface untouchable. if you turn it on and don't cook on it then there is no heat at all.

  • @ShawnSiler37
    @ShawnSiler37 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I'm not mistaking I think when the boiled water test was done, the nuwave was only on medium heat compared to the side top which you referred to being conducted on high heat.

  • @Naptime875
    @Naptime875 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually it doesn't claim that the surface can be touched after you remove the pan. If you look at the picture it is just showing how Induction cooking works where the pan his heated directly and not because of the surface is heating pan. So their half pan is still cooking and the hand over the "element" area isn't burning. The reason you can't touch the surface after cooking is because the pan is heating the surface instead of the other way around. The pan he used also came with it.

  • @yepperooyepperoo5800
    @yepperooyepperoo5800 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a non-stcik pan, which is why the oil rolled away. You didn't need the oil at all. Plus when you tried to heat the water, you had it on a medium setting instead of the high setting.

    Don't all induction ovens operate the same way? There's some sort of connection between the element and the metal bottom of the pot/pan, which shuts off the oven automatically when the connection is broken.
    It's part of the reason they heat up so well, because the connection is only focused and concentrated directly onto the bottom of the pan/pot.

    There's another problem. Read the warnings on the product itself then take a look at the claims printed on the box. Something that stays cool to the touch would not continue to be hot even after turned off. Cool to the touch means cool to the touch, not dangerously hot.

    • @CJayC253
      @CJayC253 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Go back and read it again... it says only the pan gets hot, meaning only the portion of the cooking surface that is in direct contact with said pan heats up. It is THAT portion, the "cooking surface" referenced in the warning, that may remain hot.
      Also, while I may be mistaken, I believe that wobble was deliberately manufactured to allow for a rocking motion of the pan while cooking without actually having to remove it from the surface and causing the heat to shutoff.

    It has everything to do with it. This cooktop is inducing a current, which produces a strong magnetic field. With aluminum being paramagnetic the rapid cycling of the field will cause heat.
    Also, aluminum sucks as an electrical conductor and is only due to its weight (lighter than copper) and cost (cheaper than copper). By weight and expense copper is used because its properties are best all around. Do not confuse electrical conductivity with magnetic induction.

    The origina Nuwave PIC beeps when pan is off, but doesn't require you to pust start. I ordered the NuWave Pro. It does the same as yours, have to push start again, also, thre pro fan stops immediately too....does yours? Have 3 NuWave PICs None warbles like yours. Using a digital temp probe. None of the PICs I've tried 3 Nuwave,s, Aroma or DuxTop heats evenly on pan. Also, found that whnfood is added, temp drops dramatically...especially straight from refrigerator.
