it's cool to the touch without a frying pan. once a hot frying pan is used then the surface is only hot due to pan to surface heat. You can't touch it after cooking. It will burn you.

Mine never wobbled. Maybe needs an exchange. I use the pause button when I move my pan and it's perfect. I press the pause to flip food, change to another pan, or such and press to continue. Works great. Now it's second nature. I have two now and it's all I use. Nice video Jack.
Good call regarding the immediate shut off of current when lifting the pan. My Dad's induction hob beeps when you lift the pan off, but gives you up to 30s I think before it will then assume that the pan has been removed permanently. Thanks for the review though, they rock!
Nuwave ovens and similar convection ovens work very well. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that with a plastic dome, grease can get baked on and it does not come off easily. I currently own a Sharper Image unit with a glass bowls. Yes, it's heavier but the glass cleans up very well. I can scrub it with an abrasive pan and not have to worry about scratching it as with a plastic dome.
The burner is "wobbly" because there is a fan on the bottom. The fan is what produces the heat and needs air to flow under the burner that is why it is "wobbly" to allow the air to circulate.
well its good for food you want to keep at a specific temp. Also you can use it for table side serving. if you have an rv its good for there. I have the newwav oven and use that more than my regular oven.
Oh, the reason the surface cuts off is because it's testing for the pan...or that's how it works in other induction cooktops, the surface first has to detect a ferrous metal before it can heat up. It makes it energy efficient and safe that way.
You're not understanding induction: It's warm/hot after removing the pot/pan but not from the device itself -- the heat comes from the hot pot/pan transferring some heat to the glass cooking surface. It's that simple. Mine are warm also after removing the pot, but not warm enough to burn me, so no big deal as it cools off quickly once the hot pot/pan is OFF the glass cooking surface. And cools WAY faster than an electric stove's heating elements or a gas stove's cast-iron metal pot-holders. I don't see this as any issue whatsoever. -- BR
Just wondering... you claimed to have put the heat setting on the highest there was, which I assume is Max Sear, but when you boiled the water, the NuWave showed that you put it on medium heat.
Works great while camping. Camper outside gfi outlets work fine. Easy to store on camper. No need for stove or propane or fire. Safe quick and easy cleanup. Gets hot enough for fish fry. Very safe. Works great with cast iron. But not with regular pans. Advertisers don't reveal that only certain pans work. I have a lot of cast iron so I leave a skillet and fry pan in camper with it. Definitely get one. Clean ,fast, safe and hot. No brainer.
Just got the 2015 1800w version of this today. Put about 3 quarts of water straight from the tap into a 5 quart pot, set it on high, and had boiling water 10 minutes later. Also, I tried raising the pot off while it was running. It just paused until I set it back on it. I did notice the heat tends to be in about a 5" diameter ring in the center. Is it the best thing ever? No. But, for potlucks or cooking something outside or where you lack a stove, I say it'll be quite handy.
mandolinman2006 Dorm rooms. It doesn't have any kind of heating element so it doesn't break any rules. Give it as a graduation present so the recipient can achieve that "freshman 15".
Thanks for your review. I've owned mine for about 6 months and before that a Max Burton for 2 years (it doesn't turn off when the pan is lifted, gives an error signal but then resets once the pan is replaced within several seconds after which it too will turn off). I wrote a rave review for my MB on Amazon but I like the NuWave2 PIC better and use it more often although the MB is still in top working condition. My NW2 heats more evenly with fewer hot spots and it cooks at a 40 degree higher temp too for maximum searing. How long they take to boil water depends on the original temp of the water and the temp setting, of course. The NW2 allows 10 degree incremental adjustments whereas the MB has 30 degree increments. The NW2 is great for precision deep frying and pressure cooking (something that few people know about). The NW2's electronic settings allow me to use my Fagor pressure cooker with ease as if it's an electric one. Funny, that pan that came with my NW2 developed a concave bow too during its first use so the oil always diverts to the sides.
Been using my NuWave PIC 2s (1300W) sicne 2013 -- like them...AND how they are energy-efficient as they only heat the pot/pan, not the "burner" or the kitchen! So just recently, I decided to get 2 the PIC Gold units (1500W). Not the newest 1800W "Platinum" one though as most of my cooking is low-medium-medium-high heat only. -- BR
how is the company shady? my mom just bought the pro nuwave for her and got me one for my birthday last month. I want to get this next since my stove top doesnt work right and I rent...
Induction cooktops themselves don't get hot, the heat is in the pans itself. Since aluminum is a non ferrous metal, so aluminum pans do not work with induction cooktops unless the bottom of the pan contains a ferrous metal. The surface gets hot do to heat transfer, from the pan to the surface, but you could have boiled the water with a piece of paper between the pan and the surface, provided the pan doesn't get hot enough to burn the paper.
I think it may have a safety so that when if it flips over it doesn't set stuff on fire. That's the only reason i can think of for the wobble and how it turns off.
Hey Jack, off topic, but just checking on how you are doing after your stroke you had a while back. Are you back to normal or is it still a little weird?
i saw the Temp was Med i duno if u changed it or not ? some improvements i thought of .. as soon as u take it off it beeps then as soon as u get it back it should start AM !! :) !!
it is not cool to touch once you cook on it. heat from pan makes the surface untouchable. if you turn it on and don't cook on it then there is no heat at all.
If I'm not mistaking I think when the boiled water test was done, the nuwave was only on medium heat compared to the side top which you referred to being conducted on high heat.
Actually it doesn't claim that the surface can be touched after you remove the pan. If you look at the picture it is just showing how Induction cooking works where the pan his heated directly and not because of the surface is heating pan. So their half pan is still cooking and the hand over the "element" area isn't burning. The reason you can't touch the surface after cooking is because the pan is heating the surface instead of the other way around. The pan he used also came with it.
It's a non-stcik pan, which is why the oil rolled away. You didn't need the oil at all. Plus when you tried to heat the water, you had it on a medium setting instead of the high setting.
I just got one of these the other day. It wobbled too... until I took it off our bowed 1973 countertop and put it on our nice flat table. No more wobble! =0) I'm definitely going with an induction cooktop for my next stove. This will then be relegated to cooking in hotel rooms, but right now I'm having fun making omelets. =0)
Don't all induction ovens operate the same way? There's some sort of connection between the element and the metal bottom of the pot/pan, which shuts off the oven automatically when the connection is broken. It's part of the reason they heat up so well, because the connection is only focused and concentrated directly onto the bottom of the pan/pot.
I recently purchased one and I like it, but I don't like that it doesn't have an on and off switch. I noticed that when I have to plug it in it is sparking my outlet which I just had my outlets redone so obviously it is the cooktop.
I own another brand induction cooktop and love it. Unlike gas or electric burners, all of the energy goes into heating the pan. I use my stainless steel tri-ply or cast iron pans.
alot of my friends and some family members have told me they were going to buy the soda stream. i reffered them to your review and they changed their mind
There's another problem. Read the warnings on the product itself then take a look at the claims printed on the box. Something that stays cool to the touch would not continue to be hot even after turned off. Cool to the touch means cool to the touch, not dangerously hot.
Go back and read it again... it says only the pan gets hot, meaning only the portion of the cooking surface that is in direct contact with said pan heats up. It is THAT portion, the "cooking surface" referenced in the warning, that may remain hot. Also, while I may be mistaken, I believe that wobble was deliberately manufactured to allow for a rocking motion of the pan while cooking without actually having to remove it from the surface and causing the heat to shutoff.
You are right, and it would ignore the magnetic field on its own, but aluminum can be electro-magnetized so I wouldn't be surprised if it's all aluminum
It has everything to do with it. This cooktop is inducing a current, which produces a strong magnetic field. With aluminum being paramagnetic the rapid cycling of the field will cause heat. Also, aluminum sucks as an electrical conductor and is only due to its weight (lighter than copper) and cost (cheaper than copper). By weight and expense copper is used because its properties are best all around. Do not confuse electrical conductivity with magnetic induction.
NuWave2 doesn't even know who I am. Not sure why you're saying I'm a sell out. I never take money for product reviews. That would make the honest part of my review not honest.
Yea Jack, it's like the Gordon Ramsay Drinking game. Every time Gordon says "stunning" or "amazing" take a shot. Good video by the way, I thought the review was very fair and objective. Seems shoddy that the thing doesn't sit balanced but it looks like it cooks like a dream.
The origina Nuwave PIC beeps when pan is off, but doesn't require you to pust start. I ordered the NuWave Pro. It does the same as yours, have to push start again, also, thre pro fan stops immediately too....does yours? Have 3 NuWave PICs None warbles like yours. Using a digital temp probe. None of the PICs I've tried 3 Nuwave,s, Aroma or DuxTop heats evenly on pan. Also, found that whnfood is added, temp drops dramatically...especially straight from refrigerator.
it's cool to the touch without a frying pan. once a hot frying pan is used then the surface is only hot due to pan to surface heat. You can't touch it after cooking. It will burn you.
Is there a reason you put a cup of oil in the pan before searing?
James Vinzo
Maybe to heat the pan up evenly
my fan is pretty quiet. did you hear it in the video. It was noticeable but not loud

Jack, you are so damn awesome... Thank you for all the videos you make...
your idea is perfect. I hate having to hit start again. I move my pan a lot during cooking.
Was the last one a nuwave? I can't remember the brand. This one had way better heat distribution.
I did turn up the heat. I just didn't show it in the video
been watching you for years! i dont really cook but i watch these to stay educated on products and different things too cook
Mine never wobbled. Maybe needs an exchange. I use the pause button when I move my pan and it's perfect. I press the pause to flip food, change to another pan, or such and press to continue. Works great. Now it's second nature. I have two now and it's all I use. Nice video Jack.
Third Street how is it now? Still satisfied?
Get a life Juan @@Juantwothree897
it was the highest heat like the stove. it was set to Max/Sear

I will note in video right now.thanks

I bought a little sticky pad for the leg and it leveled it perfectly.
yeah. It was very non stick. it's an aluminum pan that came with the cooktop
yes. a few years ago but this is a different model and technology has changed so I took another look.
You're right, I do love the product reviews :) These are fun to watch.
yes it is. I am going to walmart to see about an exchange.
I will look. thanks for the tip

I just looked and there is a bonded metal bottom. That explains it. Sorry. the pan says aluminum but the bottom is metal.
thanks for going to my FB page to order sauce. i am working on the website now.
I have one and it does not wobble at all????? I love it!
Oh, the reason the surface cuts off is because it's testing for the pan...or that's how it works in other induction cooktops, the surface first has to detect a ferrous metal before it can heat up. It makes it energy efficient and safe that way.
thanks for all the research. It basically works like a microwave does on food to heat it up.
I would read instructions if they were in audio format.
this is the pan that came with the unit. They approved it for this device. that's why I used it. it was in the box.
Hey Jack you never stated where to get & about how much this item is. Plz advise thanks.
I find it funny that the box says cool to the touch but the plate says may remain hot after cooking

yes. I got it at walmart for $99. I said it in the beginning of the video
Why are you spraying a nonstick pan?
...greenhouse effect.
Add insult to injury using an aerosol spray with no reason whatsoever.
this guy graduated from the university Of Moroncity...He is spraying a Gotham non stick!!
hey jack, i guess the uneven surface is actually to tilt the pan without shutting off the hotsurface?
how is the company shady? my mom just bought the pro nuwave for her and got me one for my birthday last month. I want to get this next since my stove top doesnt work right and I rent...

i dont understand audible .. do i only get 1 book for this month .. and is it the only one u choose or? can u explain please?
Hey Jack,
off topic, but just checking on how you are doing after your stroke you had a while back. Are you back to normal or is it still a little weird?
I did. you didn't see me switch it in the video.
“Make sure your hands are washed”. Touches the pepper mill after handling raw meat. Nice.
hey jack just a tip but u should cook ur yolks fully because u can get salmanila
That pan seems really nice! Is it as non-stick as it seems?
When you were boiling the water, i noticed that it was on medium. Was I wrong or is it supposed to be on medium?
Does this stove tip only work with that pan the best or can it also heat up say a cast iron pan faster?
So can you only use their special pan or does it work with any pan or pot?
So how is this product holding up?
I can't believe how many half wits will argue wobbly 3 legged cooktops on Christmas Eve. Amazing! Congratulations. America at its finest.
i saw the Temp was Med i duno if u changed it or not ?
some improvements i thought of .. as soon as u take it off it beeps then as soon as u get it back it should start AM !! :) !!
I'm still wondering why you used oils and sprays on a specific non-stick pan?
mine might do that. I have to read about it.
it is not cool to touch once you cook on it. heat from pan makes the surface untouchable. if you turn it on and don't cook on it then there is no heat at all.

No more wobble! =0) I'm definitely going with an induction cooktop for my next stove. This will then be relegated to cooking in hotel rooms, but right now I'm having fun making omelets. =0)
Did you ever figure out the wobbling thing? I'm thinking of getting this, if mine is wobbling, it goes right back.
Great video but the water test always varies by altitude. My moms in Michigan is 4 mins but then in Mexico near Cancun is like 8 to 10 mins
I am in the U.K., and can't get it anywhere.
Can't get it on Amazon

Thanks for the review. I've been looking into these cooktops. The infomercial just hypes it up as you expect. You save me money.

Hey, just tried to go to your BBQ Sauce website, but I'm getting an error. Is it down? What's up? I need some of your amazing BBQ sauce!!
How much for the stove cooktop? Can I deep fried Egg Rolls in there too?
I own another brand induction cooktop and love it. Unlike gas or electric burners, all of the energy goes into heating the pan. I use my stainless steel tri-ply or cast iron pans.
You have the cord under the base not around the base that's why it's wobbly! Great review Jack!

thats an insane amount of seasoning for one patty, just face it, you dont like lamb.
This is a nice stove top. Thinking of getting an induction range.
I have 2 and they do not wabble so I don't know what's up with yours..I love mine..
You are right, and it would ignore the magnetic field on its own, but aluminum can be electro-magnetized so I wouldn't be surprised if it's all aluminum
It is supposed to be lob sided in my opinion because when you tilt the pan it stays on the heat
this
That's a nice tip about flipping the eggs then turning the flame off
Go to Lowe's or Home Depot & pick up some various rubber/silicone spacers. Will fix the wobbling.
Why did you not put your hand down on it like in the picture?
if you read his captions he said do not do that, it was still hot.
It has everything to do with it. This cooktop is inducing a current, which produces a strong magnetic field. With aluminum being paramagnetic the rapid cycling of the field will cause heat.

jack, maybe if you rotate the handle of the pan towards the front part of the tripod it would erase the wobble\

too much oil in a brand new nonstick pan.
