She started the NuWave on 275 at 6:28 and he started the Duxtop on 180 (simmer) and he didn't turn the temperature up until 6:54, a full 26 seconds later, which is a big difference in induction cooking. It's little wonder his garlic wasn't sauteing as quickly. Then, at 8:19 and the butter melting test, he pushes his butter stick over to the side of the pan while she is careful to place it right in the center. Since the heating elements are only in the center of a 5 or 6-inch diameter circle, his butter is outside the optimum heating area. Looks like a crooked demonstration to me. BTW, searing meat does not "lock in juices". There is no noticeable difference in the amount of juices retained by searing or not searing. This has been tested and steaks end up with the same weight, which means they retained the same amount of liquid. Searing just changes the texture and flavor.
I just watched this video with fascination. You are right about the "cheating", in advertising lingo it's called "puffing" - in other words "puffing" up the good points while downplaying or totally ignoring the bad points. One example is when Chef Bobby asks about the safety features of when food runs dry, yes, the unit shuts down, but if it's TOTALLY overheated the unit fries requiring a new one! This warning is actually on the instruction video. I bought my unit about 5 years ago from an infomercial and I swear by mine! For slow cooking and roasting, my dutch oven has replaced my regular oven! I still use my regular oven for big things like turkeys, etc. My only complaints are: my "sear" button overheats and shuts down the unit! Using the 450 degree setting seems to relieve that and the included ceramic coated frying pans have lost their nonstick after a couple of years - they still work - I just need butter, oil and an occasional warm oil seasoning. And I prefer my steaks seared it does add to the flavor. If you have a Nu-Wave Precision Cooktop, I hope you're enjoying it. If not, do buy one - with "a little theory and a world of practice", (for me, it took a little getting used to) you should enjoy the convenience! John Shaw
How about making the buttons more sturdy so they don't break after a few months? I've gone through two of these and had to replace them because of this problem.
* You got that right, my NuWave buttons are all cracking, I ordered this Duxtop 9600LS today on Amz to avoid Nuwave cracking buttons for ever :+( , looks like these Duxtop buttons may last longer : inductionpros.com/duxtop-9600ls-induction-cooktop/
I have the NuWave (1800 Watt) and use a cast iron pan with it. I've been annoyed with the cycling that occurs while trying to brown potatoes or a grilled cheese sandwich. I let the pan heat for 5 minutes and then put the food in. Nice sizzle and then nothing. I have to wait awhile before the NuWave cycles on again. It's like a bang/bang heater that's either all on or all off around a setpoint. I was telling this to my brother-in-law and he said he had an induction cooktop that did the same thing on the temp settings, but it ran constant on the power settings. Made no sense to me since the NuWave only allows you to set temp. Then I bought a Duxtop (1800 Watt) that has both power and temp settings. What a difference! Both cooktops are 1800 Watt, but the Max Sear NuWave doesn't even get my pan as hot as the Duxtop at power level 9 out of 10. Plus, the Duxtop on power only control stays on and I get a constant fry on potatoes and grilled cheese. My Duxtop problem is that I haven't been prepared for how quickly it cooks and I've managed to burn my food in the timeframe where the NuWave would be in it's first off cycle. Oh, and the canning example, what a joke. I couldn't even get the NuWave to boil 5qts of water in an enamled dutch oven.
my Isiler does that too I ended up keeping the thing plugged into a surge protector with an on/off button at all times to deal with it(before that I would use the GFCI test button to prevent the arc)
Somebody (me) dropped a full cast iron pot on it and destroyed the glass. It still runs, but I'd like to replace the glass. Any idea about a replacement part?
why is the no copper chef one. I have both here, yours and the copper chef and I want to know what ones better, I have never used either one and I only want to keep one of them.
The buttons breaks after a few months? I've gone through two of these and had to replace them because of the same problem. Otherwise, it's a good unit.
The buttons on the Nuwave wear out very easily. I've already had a few Nuwave induction plates and this always happens. Seriously, Nuwave could surely have more durable buttons but by making it the way they do, they figure that you'll be buying another one quicker. Not happy with this at all but generally, I'm happy with it.
I've had 3 NuWave PICs, and while they perform well, I've had the same experience with the tacktile faux touch buttons. They wear through very quickly revealing the "naked" buttons underneath..
It's so frustrating when my circuit breaks every 60seconds with the burner on med-hi while my syrup needs to gel 😤. Precision cooking, with 5 minute interludes of running to the basement!!!
A problem with Nuwave is their customer support, it’s non existent. I called over 12 times in a 4 day period and never got through to anyone. Once I did get through they had to transfer me to another department and no one picked up for over a half hour, never did get a resolution. I had a defective product and wanted to know where to return it. Never found out from them. Beware there is another Nuwave company. I sent it to them in California and never saw my cooker again. Cost me over $200.00 and nothing to show for it. If you feel you need to buy a Nuwave product get it through Amazon.

Bought two of these new wave induction cooktops ,the1800 model, the first one lasted less then 3 months the other one lasted less then 6 months. Junk as far as I am cocerned. To bad I really liked them.
Yours over heat the same way when is on sear. Plus your temp. is off by a lot. 375 deg. is not a 375 but less by 50 deg. And cooking surface temp. is not even. It does have a hot and cold spots.
In the butter melt test they ignored the other induction hobs such as the Duxtop that can go as low as 100F which is the same as the Nuwave PIC. They chose the hob that can't go any lower than 160F so the butter would burn using that hob. Wow very skewed showdown. This is disappointing of the Nuwave company.
Not a pro tool...just a happy homemaker heating cooktop...within or at 12 months the pic breaks down...temperature uneven, error codes, plug too short...can not fry good chicken or fries...upgrade.. Spend more buy a commercial induction if you are a real cook...just a travel heat up tool.

Duxtop, take the pan off the cook top, set it on a trivet--that pauses the cook top. They are both very, very good cook tops.
i'm sold. I have been looking for a new induction cooktop. Also i like it's searing ability
Why does it ark when I plug it in? why isn't there a simple on and off switch to stop this?

Can the Nuwave PIC induction cooktop be purchased in Australia?
How is "sear" boiling (212F)
What is the maximum watt output, 1300watts?
This is what i see in the video and produce more than 500°F
1800
Does it do Celsius?
yes
Be sure to get an induction diffuser that will enable (ANY) cookweare to work on induction cookers!
I bought 3, 2 died so far and the buttons break. I'd rather get the cheaper "competitors"
How do I buy one of these? How effiecent is it at medium and high?
I am happy with mine aside from the fact that I need it to be at 185 degrees to simmer and it goes from 180 to 190 as far as I can figure out.

Your circuit is overloaded not the fault of nuwave, you need to update wiring not just keep resetting the breaker.
@@katcared It was the only appliance on the circuit.

how efficient it is on electricity does it pull a lot of electricity
to heat a litre of water always takes the same amount of energy on any cooker, even a microwave.
