@@Captain_Mercury As fun as that sounds and it does sound fun, the basic Comic Hand + Obelisk combo is impossible as Obelisk cannot be targeted. Though Skill Drain or some card that negates Obelisk's effect without targeting Obelisk himself then playing Comic Hand would work.

The Flaming Shark I actually thought Marik v. Pegasus in a scripted duel would have been really good, but I don't like the moves they had them do and showing shots of their hands periodically kind of spoiled it for me. This one didn't feel as exciting.

I love how this duel references the fact that while only 1 field spell could be out at first, now both players can have their own field spells thanks to the latest master rule released at the time.
Pegasus just broke the game. And Anime Effects would've made this duel too crazy

VixXstazosJOB Actually it would: in the anime God Cards are unaffected by Monster Effects and Trap Cards, but Spell Cards work on them, even though their effects only last for one turn. So, even if The Winged Dragon of Ra was having its anime effect, the only thing that would have changed was that if Marik wouldn't have lost, at the end of Pegasus's turn, Ra would have returned to Marik's field. :)
Thomas Snyder The Egyptian God cards can't switch control, in the anime. So if the anime effects were there, he'd still be on Melvin's side.

***** Hinotama cause at least if you wanna burn what little remains of lp then at least you should draw a card for that and 500 is decent damage anyways, not making a silly easy ass response with just 2 lvl 4 monsters, the other combo is "more situational" but at least is full skill _more overkill_ every turn (something i kinda miss in YGO)... and well cards like cowboy is why i'm starting to feel xyz's started to ruin YGO indeed though

Next thing you know, both players choose five Spell/Trap cards to represent their life points.

This is amazing. I was cheering for Yami Marik, but I also expected Pegasus, the creator of the god cards to know how to fight them if they were ever used against him. And the end result was brilliant.

billa107 This was most likely to show off the new Toon cards along with the new Ra card. I think they should do this for releases, because I made my own Egyptian God deck and Toon deck.
billa107 There are very few actors that enjoy their roles as much as Darren Dunstan. If I am correct, he was also a big part of the production of the original series, not just a pompous voice. He legitimately enjoys this role, and it pretty much shows how versatile a person's VO work can be. I can't really pick someone I could poke out of an animation like his - Hell, I remember it over most other VOs...and I could name a BUNCH.

It is a shame that Marik did not use the deck he used during the battle city finales.
That deck was actually made by Yami Marik after he takes over. It is implied that Marik's original Deck is pretty much made of Banned or counterfeit cards that he gave to the Rare Hunters through the series.

This was too cool for an old Yugioh fan like me. I miss playing so much. I see they've actually released all of the awesome toon cards from the anime now. I always wanted to have a Toon deck but there just wasn't enough to make it work when I played. Gravekeepers were one of the most powerful decks for a while. Looks like they've gotten some great continued support.
I thought the god cards weren't effected by the effects of spells and trap cards though! I noticed the Winged Dragon he played on the field looked like the typical textless version that always floated around back in the day, but was totally illegal to use in a deck. Haven't they released legit God cards by now? Also why did that Toon Alligator look like it had the effect monster cardframe? Just the camera playing tricks?

I don't know why the writers of yugioh let Marik loose here. Marik isn't shown as a really good duelist in the series neither, he just use his Millenium Rod and OP cards. Once he would have lost to even Joey which isn't, lets be honest here, a good duelist too.
