부대찌개 소개 감사합니다 ~~~Yes, we koreans really love this ARMY STEW and there are several versions of that. Hot version/mild version/ kimchi version and so on. Love it ♥️♥️♥️
After visiting Seoul, South Korea back in October/2022. I was craving a Korean Army stew, your recipe makes it easy as usual. I made it at home and my husband & I look at each other while eating it and commented...."this is delicious and really quite FUN to eat too!"
During, and immediately after, the 1950-1953 Korean War Koreans faced a very serious threat from starvation. The U.S. Army provided South Korea with a lot of food. When you're starving to death you'll throw spam, american cheese, ramen, and kimchi into the same pot. Turns out... it's delicious.
This is also super yummy using those ready-made pouches of the white-colored Korean Beef Bone stock (sa gol gom tang). I also love adding in Korean rice cakes (dduk). Next time I make this I'm definitely going to add wood ear mushrooms like you did.
I have to randomly say. I adore your recipes and all the recipes I've tried are absolutely wonderful and my favorite. Asian dishes have become REGULAR in my house because of your recipes. That being said my husband was not happy to try this specific recipe. He said it sounded not good and didn't want to try it. I made him try it anyways because to me it sounded wonderful. This is one of the few dishes he has literally asked me to make because he was craving it. 😭
In the US, those little sausages are called "cocktail weiners" because you'd typically see them at cocktail parties, usually wrapped in some dough to make Pigs in a Blanket. However, ours are a lot smaller, small enough that you can eat them with a toothpick.
Rice cake is missing! I can be a bit of food snob, but this is one of my go to picks when I go to a Korean restaurant. Food is about tasting good, not how expensive its ingredients are!!
@@sarashkim Rice cake is optional. It depends upon your preference whether you want to add some or not. I would like mine with rice cakes tho (and lots of mushrooms). 😅
@@HanniHannierHanniest None of the Korean restaurants (including the ones in Korea of course) I went to had it as optional. It would be pretty unusual for this dish served without rice cake in it. And believe me, I had a lot of this stew in and outside of Korea.
And guess what I’ve decided we are having for dinner tonight???? Thiiiisss! Can’t wait to have it 🥰🥰 I’ve prepped one for us and one for my Indian mother inlaw and father inlaw 😜 let’s see what they make of it. Thank you Marion x
Thanks Marion for introducing this beloved Korean late night snack to your channel! As a Korean, the version I tried that my cousin made me was simply made with the Korean ramen soup packets as the base instead of adding a separate chicken or vegetable broth. She added a bit of the kimchi juice and lots of kimchi, a bit of gochujang, but very little of it. She said it's supposed to be simple like that and more quick and instant and buildable. So we added ramen, lots of spam, Vienna sausage, eggs, kimchi, rice cakes, and American cheese on top. It's supposed to be eaten as a late night snack. Yes, adding onion and your favorite mushrooms is good too. Highly recommend trying it at a Korean restaurant first because you will get an idea of it. Not many restaurants sell it, as it's more of a snack food aka junk food than an actual meal. If you do find it, bring all your friends because the portions are huge! Marion's version looks good (minus the baked beans) and hope you guys get to enjoy and make it at home!
Here in the states, Cheerios is a famous cereal. It’s either honey nut flavored literally called Honey Nut Cheerios which is extremely popular and loved by many, or regular.
Hola Marion thank you for your the most delicious yummy Recipe and thank you 🙏 for your video and good bless you and your family 🔸❣️💚💚🌟🌻🌜🌹🔹🔹🧡🥀🩸💛🏮♥️🥰🥰❤️💐🍀🍀☺️☺️😍💜🙂🙂🌼🌼🌷🌸🎋🎈🎈💙
I haven't met anyone who hasn't liked this dish. It's the ultimate comfort food and surprisingly really delicious and rich despite the quirky combination of ingredients that goes into it. If you don't like the cheap ingredients like spam, you can always replace it with meat of choice. But the baked beans and kimchi is core to this dish.
Dwenjang (Korean version miso) in the sauce and kimchi will make the dish yummier! This dish is very typical home cooked dish in Korea loved by all the generations.
When I had a cold, I made this not so long ago but added rice cakes and extra spiciness so I could sweat my cold out and I was smelling colours 😆 will say the toilet loved me 😂😂 but this is soo good and like warm hug 🤗
I was hesitant about adding cheese to my Korean stew but oh man what a difference it makes! I use smoked Gouda cheese and it adds a beautiful intense and creamy flavor yet it doesn’t overpower the spices of the stew. Add a small amount to see if you like it first of course!
@@aznmochibunny you Americans are rude. Everywhere. And you don’t like being challenged because you’re conditioned to equate being American with being right. And nothing any Australian said equates to needing to be repeatedly reminded that you have a breakfast cereal with the same name. This isn’t a breakfast cereal channel or an American channel for that matter.
I've got a question about the korean chili flakes/powder: I noticed that people always use a lot, usually multiple tablespoons. Is that stuff not that hot or is your heat tolerance just that high? Unfortunately the asian supermarkets here only sell Gochugaru in big bags, so I haven't been able to try it yet (never going to use that much) but if I used the same amount of regular chili powder, the dish wouldn't be edible for me.
It's totally different. It's just a simple tofu stew, which has more traditional Korean ingredients. This uses a mix of American (US) and Korean ingredients.
This looks fab…I cannot with the baked beans, though. Not because I’m a food snob, but I just don’t care for baked beans. I wonder if I could just used a rinsed can of navy beans in place?
Mini frankfurters in the USA would be called vienna sausages. Honestly, they're pretty disgusting. They were good when I was a kid but the quality has declined. Just use some decent hot dogs instead. I'm so curious about this dish, but since I'm in LA, it would probably make more sense to go over to Koreatown to try it.
