You always got the impression he didn't fear death - it was just going to me a minor annoyance that stopped him enjoying life to the fullest.

I was lucky to get more seriously into him 5 years before his death, and managed to see Motorhead 10 times in those 5 years, last time one month before his death. He was truly one of a kind.

I just happened to be too young to get the chance unfortunately. I'm 18 now and would've been about 11-12 when he died, but I didn't get into the world of rock and other types of music until a couple years ago. Certainly missed out

My dad was born in 1948, he grew up on country music. He decided to become a drummer after turning 13 years old. First time he heard Lemmy played Ace of Spades, my dad quit country to start playing rock and roll.
Lemmy cannot rest in peace. He’s having lot of fun somewhere, drinking, smoking, joking, laughing, playing bass and getting high with all his yet passed away friends, fans and musicians.
They say when you hear roaring thunder, that’s Lemmy in the Afterlife. And that would be his bass amp kicking into overdrive.

In his book he talked about how each generation needs to challenge the beliefs of those before them, which is a pretty impressive philosophy a lot of older people don't have.

Lemmy was the King. He lived the way he wanted to, and didnt let death get him down. Even when he was slowly dying, he was still Lemmy, chuckling and having a good time. God fucking speed, Lemmy.

One of the nicest persons one could meet in person , his response to letters from fans and kids wanting advice on how to get started with a metal band are legendary and show how good a character of a person he was.
Lemmy taught us many lessons by just being himself.

the best guy in rock, full stop. was always approachable by the fans and no bad stories coming out after his death about him mistreating women or anyone. he really was a human being.
And yet supposedly he slept with thousands. Something he never denied, just put down to statistics as far as the number of gigs he played and the fact that at the end, there's inevitably at least one woman who wants to sleep with you. I guess he rang all their bells and they have nothing to complain about!
Went to see him on all his UK tours from 1989-2014

I got to hand out and party with Lemmy one night after a Motorhead gig in a small club in Anaheim Cal. He's a great guy and fun to be around. Great memory. RIP Lemmy.

This is actually "remake" of an old finnish milk commercial. In original ad from 1990's(?), not so clean looking man walks out of the bar saying "I've never drank milk and i never will" and after that, text "...and it shows!" Appears on the screen. Lemmy was doing last shows with motorhead in Finland back then, and Valio (finnish dairy product-company) asked him to make this video. They released it just after he died and it was never seen in tv among actual commercials.

What I liked about Lemmy was he wasn't full of himself like many celebrities, he wasn't a pompous ass or self-righteous hypocrite who wanted to sound significant, he was Lemmy. He is sorely missed but the music will live forever.
I'm sitting in a bar with tears of laughter and sadness after listening to Hellraiser and Till the End with a double JD and New Castle Werewolf. But then something truly Lemmy happened. Oingo Boingo's Dead man's Party started playing. Like a great big wedgie from Lemmy to let us know he's fine, the beautiful bastard. Here's to Der Killmiester. I remember him in an interview saying in Liverpool he saw a band and thought they got something here. It was the Beatles. Lemmy had seen it all. And even in the end had that laugh.

Motorhead is metal in the same way that Black Sabbath is. They are 100% hard rock, but they are the godfathers of metal, and honorary members of the community.

I caught Lemmy in the spring on 94. DAMN! What a stage performer! He handled that bass as if it were a machine gun!
I did see him 85 vacation time here in Sweden so we where like 150 in the audience. Always been a real rockstar not fake many are

I saw Motorhead play three times over three decades. Each time, I wanted them to just keep playing forever. Hell they could have just played the same song over and over and I would have been happy. If Lemmy is not in heaven, I don't wanna go there.

Don't be so shallow, it happens quickly in the end. My father was worse off, and he was a doctor, definitely didn't lead a "rock'n'roll lifestyle". I'm sure nothing of that sort determines his look here, but more fundamental (and fairly fast) health deterioration.

I love that the Blue Danube Waltz is playing in the background. That is one of my favorite pieces of music, ever, and it's paired with my favorite musician of all time. I wish I could have met him, just to thank him for so many years of music that made me happy. I won't forget Lemmy. He played Rock & Roll.
