      Thanks mate, yeah I want to tweak the new angles a little but overall I'm happy with them. Now do me a favour and can you please stop flying into all that bad weather I keep seeing you in, I really want to see a "Nothing happens on a blue sky perfect flying day" video from you my friend, k, thanks....

    The production values just keep getting better, Stef. I imagine battery power over time is gonna be a headache but I really appreciate the effort you put in. Also the fact that you don't take yourself seriously as in the crowd shot at the first stop make this blog the most entertaining of the aviation channels (sorry Trent Palmer, a bit of Aussie parochialism there).
    Thank you as always, mate.

    Great to see you showing more of Australia than most people even think is there.
    I was lucky enough to grow up where driving was the only option for family trips so we got to see all the small Australian towns that make Australia an amazing place.
    Keep it up can't wait to see the rest of the series

  • @Mike_Costello

    Great camera set ups but that last one, the hand held you did after the other batteries dried up was, I think, awesome! It really showed that flying is a dynamic process and you often move separately to the aircraft in turbulence. Regular camera views are locked to the plane but that hand held conveyed so much more. Do more of that please!!

Would be great!

    Always amazed that taking off (out of the Sydney basin in my case) that the weather is ordinary, but once you start going in land you get clear (mostly) blue skies. G'day Stef! :-) As always a great video mate. Nice work and as other people have commented, the new cameras work well.
    The flight looked challenging, from a turbulence perspective.
    Was thinking about you yesterday, had a massive storm go through around 4pm ACST. Try and get to Darwin before mid-arvo! :-P
    Take care and be safe.

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Benjamin, yeah it was a bit of a challenge but you just have to put up with it sometimes. This is why I quite like flying on my own, because it's a comfort not safety question most of the time. I know plenty of passengers who I'd have had to divert this flight for due that turbulence, but when you're on your own and the flight can operate safely (I slowed down in the stronger bits) then at least you can continue on.

    • @benjaminfox7105
      @benjaminfox7105 5 ปีที่แล้ว

       Stefan Drury : Thanks for the reply! I totally agree with you re: flying by yourself, compared to having passengers. My wife Lisa doesn't appreciate any form of negative G. I hope the rest of your trip to Darwin has been safe. We had a MASSIVE storm out our way yesterday (Howard Springs). Darwin's weather in the afternoon can change ever so quickly.
      Take care mate!

    @CyrilDeretz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really good to see you flying your great continent again. I'm looking at your nose wheel every time you take off and it looks at tad "weak" (moving up and down). Not the first time I notice this. I'm no aircraft engineer but I have a G2 Cirrus and I know this is a weak point. I just had the rubber piece at the top being replaced and my SR20 is about 5cm higher now. There is basically more clearance between the prop and the ground. G3 has more clearance than the G2 so it might not be an issue for you.

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Cyril, we looked at this during the annual inspection a few weeks ago. Prop clearance is within tolerance but the rubber bumpers for the nose gear may be something we look at next year if it dips any more.

    An adventure. Exciting! Saw a guy with a 360-camera mounted out front of the wing on his Kitfox. Great video because the software removes the pole it was mounted on so looks (almost) like a very close air to air shot. Mind you, he had struts to attach the pole to. To get the shot,,, let's start drilling some holes in EYZ! 🎥👍 (or not?)

      I would love to design some cool cow pattern based gear that pilots (and non-aviators alike) can wear. A stylish range, not the usual "If it's not Boeing I'm not going" slogan t-shirts we're usually subjected to. Maybe a 2020 project.

    What an amazing land we live in Stefan... I am so thankful to my great great great great grandaddy for stealing that cow back in england and being shipped out over here... Here hoping and praying for some rain though

      When I first read this I thought your Grandfather stole a cow and shipped the cow to Australia. I was going to say it's probably Milkshake's ancestor. But, yes, desperately need some rain in many parts of the country. Thanks Calvin.

    How did you get permission to fly into point cook
    Was it because of the route you’re doing?

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I applied through the RAAF and Point Cook Flying Club a couple of weeks out. If you contact the flying club and let them know what your intentions are they may be able to point you in the right direction.

      I’ve flown out of point cook a few times with cadets but I’m pretty sure they have Oxford flying school down there as well

    And to think these guys not only didn't have the technology we have today. They were lucky if they even had any instruments and nav aids like we have now.

      I know, it was an amazing accomplishment. And the fact they did it this time of year as well, in the heat and the wet season, makes it even more impressive.

    Stefan,
    Don't the natives call the dust devils "wiilly-Willies" or something like that?
    I wondered how many different planes you've flown, from your first flight until now and also if you still do some commercial flying?
    Nosy as ever:)

    • @StefanDrury
      @StefanDrury  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t do any commercial flying, even though I have a CPL. All my flying is done as a Private Pilot. And I haven’t actually flown that many types, I’d say maybe 10-15. My philosophy is to know fewer planes really well, rather than many planes less well. I can really “feel” EYZ now as I’ve basically exclusively flown her all this year, if that makes sense. Cheers.

      @@StefanDrury That makes a lot of sense, and although I didn't mention it before, this current adventure is really interesting, especially the "alternate" runway landing/takeoff.
      I hope you have a great summer down under or wherever your muse takes you:)
