Thank you so much for this mother colour method of neutralising all the bright colours. It is very therapeutic to watch you paint. I am fairly new at watercolour painting. I usually paint loose florals and they kind of look ‘flat’ and either too ‘bright or dull’. I also like to paint patterns and you gave me some good ideas and tips to do so. Lately I am also into colour mixing and yours videos helped me a lot. Now with your mother colour method, I will be painting my loose florals this way. Thank you again. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this mother method. I’ve just caught the colour mixing bug and have long admired your cohesive palettes… can’t wait to play around with this method this weekend!
I love your presentations and your discovery of color. I read a book awhile ago, “Make your colors sing” which uses this method. The muted colors (aka “greys” or “neutrals”) bring the more pure color into highlight with harmony.
I have never heard of this book and I basically stumbled into my preference for this way of working with color during my hours and hours of painting. But I am not at all surprised that others stumbled into it as well!
Very pretty wendy. It sure is relaxing. I feel the same as you when i paint i feel lost in time and space. I will try this design. Thanks for your creative ideas. Do u film with your iphone?
What paper are you using? It has an interesting texture and the leaves look gorgeous on it. The description says Etchr, but the pictures look different?
I'm using handmade journals that I create myself. If you are interested in all of the information about the paper and technique, it is contained in my course, willa-workshops.teachable.com/p/watercolor-for-relaxation. You can certainly do the same type of painting in commercially available watercolor journals. I give recommendations for what works and what doesn't in my course.
Same here: I am so stressed for mixing up everything, remembering to the other color, to remember to add the mother, then to add a straight pigment… I just can’t, it’s so stressful (for me, not the wonderful author of the video!) 😄 😄
This has nothing to do with your gorgeous painting…but, from the first scene when your arm came across the screen I wanted to see your top!!! The sleeve is gorgeous so I imagine the whole top is beautiful! 😂

I love when you say “it still has the memory of what’s in there”

I have to laugh when you people say “it’s so relaxing “ It’s relaxing watching you but when I try I feel like throwing the paints across the room.🤯🤯
There is nothing wrong with flinging paint! Go with your natural propensity and you will find flow!!!! I support you!
I tried with these “greens” left on my pallet & relaxed wasn’t how felt when added this “mother” color which turned a color not desired!
@@appleknocker56 the mother color is going to look like mud, or puke, or yuck
