This is my new favourite podcast. Definitely would love it for other games like League. Also Maui is the perfect person for this format. Always has outrageous takes that spark very interesting discussion. He does it perfectly by making a fairly valid point and then dialing it up by 1 or 2 to make it over the top. Absolutely loved the s1mple take!
I barely watch CS nowadays but I keep up with this hilarious show religiously. Maui and Kassad are great insightful voices to hear from. And ofc the living incarnation of eSports brings in the Midas touch

I agree with all his takes though. Especially the S1mple one - navi look terrible, he's looked terrible, he probably isn't in a position to practice as much as he used to, IGL situation is bad, and there's a war at home.

I’m glad the map pool was a talking point on this, this is the first time since 2014 I havnt actively watched or looked forward to pro cs games, the maps are just awful and every best of 3 is going to have what seems like one if not two boring and awful maps to watch
I think Swiss works really well for qualifiers since it allows a lot of chances and windfall. For main tournaments though, GSL Bo3 is unmatched in format and storytelling. Being able to tell the story of each group is so compelling and better for audiences.
I agree with Mauis point, sadly I also think S1mple will not dominate this year. Also I don't know why kassad is thinking S1mple has 2-3 years like this in him. We never saw a godlike prime as S1mple had for the last years keeping up for so long. S1mple never dropped under 1.2 rating until recently. And the war in Ukraine doesn't seem to end soon, sadly. I think S1mple gonna drop out of top 5.

totally agree on c9. however, if buster is still a good aggressive player, maybe they could replace nafany so that its not a complete waste of roster changes.
I agree with Kassad about the map pool being the worst ever, the map pool badly lacks a map like Cache. Vertigo, Ancient and Anubis are all bad maps (trial is still out on Anubis, I personally dont like it that much) and the problem is that the average players dont like those maps either. Mirage is still the most played map on faceit by far so there's no point in patching out old maps like Mirage when they're clearly still more popular than the new maps Valve tries to implement.

Doubt it due to travel issues. It's a very long flight. Unless they chain a month of a couple of tournaments maybe. But if they have to travel back and forth a few times, it's just not worth it.
To respond to Maui's comparison between Buster and Interz, keep in mind that the support role on a Jame team is basically completely disconnected from any other support players. At least support players like Interz and Perfecto are get to buy rifles to play their positions in. Contrast that with Sanji and then later Buster going into gun rounds with deagles to have enough to drop Jame an AWP. I do think I agree with the take that they shouldn't have kicked Interz though. Only issue is that Shiro Axile and Hobbit are all basically irreplaceable. If they really decided that they needed to switch up and get a new guy, the one to go would be Nafany or Interz. Now, who would you get in place of Nafany? This feels like the biggest issue for tier 1 cis cs right now. Who the fuck igls? If you're navi and you suddenly can't sign russians (however unconfirmed that is) I honestly don't really blame them for trying out Electronic. C9 have more options, but they got exactly 2: Jerry and Chopper. Even typing their names out makes me feel nervous, it's making me realize that swapping igl is a super big deal. You don't even know if that player will work well with the other team, as well as you don't know if the team can work with the style and calling of the new player. While I was writing this I had a tinfoil hat moment. What if Buster is meant to be the new igl? It's been done before, like when Zeus and Boombl4 played on navi, and Boombl4 basically got the two best cis strategy gods in Zeus and Blade to teach him how to igl. I feel like it's totally possible for Buster to come in, get comfy in the team, learn from Nafany and Groove, and then Nafany goes and Interz comes back. You can't do -Nafany +Buster, since you have an igl who has never been an igl before suddenly calling for some of the best talent in the region. But if you put Interz on the bench for a bit to free up a slot to train a new igl, that could somehow work.
It'd be a cool idea to do an historical special of this show where y'all go back to old takes like "coldzera shouldn't have been number 1 in 2017" or "fallen is the most overrated player of all time" or "thorin invented esports" kinda takes and discuss about them.
NAF GOAT Support and one of the best in his true role I like Swiss, the issue is Buccholz and Seeding and egregiously BO1 games (GSL is fine though) Degster seems like s1mple, he is so cerebral that he cannot relate to team mates, which is a flaw in a mid tier team that will frustrate him s1mple, as above, he cannot keep his toxicity in check in a weaker team because he cannot relate but he is more mature than Degster, so should still perform (needs papatronic released) Mirage, outside the pros it is the most hated and most loved map, few people are neutral. Pro teams are neutral to good, few hate it and rarely ban it. Buster is a trash move, to get the best out of him, they have to make him the opener and anchor, which is a weird push pull idea and who would go passive on CT. Funny thing about FURIA is that KSCERATO is the best 2nd AWP, yet arT buys it 5x more than him. They don't lose so much when he AWPs because Yuurih can step up with the Rifle. Someone just needs to tell arT to pull his head in and become the 2nd fiddle to his quality team and they can be Br FaZe. Even with Saffee. And yes Drop is a quality Support/Anchor with good mechanics.
@@peepopoo4387 grim would be an interesting prospect, however role wise it might be a little odd. I haven't watched enough of Grim in CoL to really know what his roles are there. Regardless, Ellige needs to go. The worst player against T1 teams.
The problem for NaVi isn't that they don't want to add a Russian player, they don't want to have a Russian Core, which would give them a Russian flag against their team again. They copped a lot of heat from Ukrainians early on for having Russian flags on their old guernseys for perfecto, electronic, etc.
I think all this talk about Swiss being bad is weird. The complaint seems to always be that you can end up playing a highly ranked team too early on in the tournament. You can keep Swiss while fixing this problem very simply. Every round you match teams based on pre-tournament seeding. And you do the same thing moving into the round of 8. BOOM it's finished. weird upset in round 1 doesn't matter because the 1-0 teams will be reseeded according to pre-tournament seeding. lose round 1 unexpectedly. doesn't matter because the 0-1 matches will be reseeded according to pre-tournament seedings as well. idk how this fix wouldn't solve everyone's complaints

Broky being top 3 is possible if faze pull an astralis 2018 this year. The reason is I don't think it's possible to not put anyone from a team like that in the top 3. The numbers will just be too high. Of course I don't think faze will do an ast 2018, thus broky doesn't have a chance at top 3.
No team will ever do an astralis 2018. That level of success is not repeatable in the current landscape of professional csgo. The skill gap has become way to close. Heroic #1 ranked HLTV just lost a Bo3 to EG who is barely in the top 20 teams
