      henry ... i notice when you used the vitamix in this video you turn it off with the on/off switch and then turn down the power from 10 to 1 ... i always do it in reverse ... i turn the power down from 10 to zero and don't turn it off with the on/off switch ... does it matter ? i assume either way is fine ... thanks ... great video

      @@runnerdude3246 When it's just liquids hitting the ON/OFF switch works perfectly fine or turning the speed down first then hitting ON/OFF. When making nut butters Vitamix recommends turning the speed down first so keep doing what you're doing. It's a good habit. 😊

    Great video, Henry. Most people think all you have to do is run the washing cycle and that’s it. We would all be happy if ANYTHING ACTUALLY CLEANED ITSELF, but since that is just a dream, basic care of your blender jars is needed to keep it clear and clean. Thanks.

    Excellent, Henry! I saw this trick not filling too much water in the container in one of your previous videos and eversince, I do it your way - which in fact is the best way! Hi Henry, One thing you didn't mention was removing the gasket around the lid and removing any food particles that could be on it or underneath it. I always do the soapy water cleanse of my blender just like you did, but I then dip the lid cap and the gasket into the soapy water inside the blender to make sure they get good and soapy and then I wash these separately. I then pour the soapy water all around the lid in my sink and wash this again separately making sure there are no food particles stuck in any crevice of lid. Then, just like you, I rinse out everything thoroughly and feel under the blades with my hands for any food particles. Even with the soapy water function on my 3500 blending container, I sometimes find some foods will stay stuck under the blades, especially when working with anything thick (e.g. "nut butters"). Cleanliness is next to godliness, right? And so is being just that much healthier.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rob! Love your feedback. 🙏🏾 I truly appreciate it. This is why I created this type of video because I want to get requests from you guys on what you'd like to see. I'm planning on doing a sanitization of the container video and I will cover the deep cleaning aspect. This was more of the standard cleaning after making a smoothie. Too much in one video may be overwhelming and I won't have an idea for the next video. 😁.

    • @cybrarian9
      @cybrarian9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlendingWithHenry, completely understandable. I know there are those who use vinegar and soap and perhaps other things to "deep clean" their containers. After I scratched the insides of my large 64 ounce container blending up dried lemon peels to make powdered lemon peel, I stopped caring about how the inside looked so long as it was clean. I called Vitamix about my goof up and they gladly sent me a new 64 ounce container. I use that one for making other thing as I keep a kosher kitchen and need multiple jars for different meat, dairy, and pareve (neither meat nor dairy) ingredients.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Soaking it is the only way to remove smells from the rubber lid. It's perhaps one of the reasons Vitamix started including plastic lids with their container on their newer machines.

  • @happyvirus0798
    @happyvirus0798 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank youfor the tips! We just got our unit. I noticed that you placed your container on the sink with soap, so is it okay to wet the outside bottom part of the container? I'm worried that it will be damaged since it is the one connecting the container to the motor base so it shouldn't be wet.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. Yes it’s perfectly fine to wet the bottom. The drive socket has a gasket. You can wash it on the top rack of the dishwasher or even dunk it in soapy water.

      Hi, which part of the food processor is hardest to clean? I may have to do a special video for that one.

    • @larock0wns
      @larock0wns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BlendingWithHenry I think all of it. lol. Like where you shred cheese and then use the 'cleaning' mode. It doesn't do a great job, especially the wheels and the part that you push the food down in. You pretty much have to scrub all the parts by hand, instead of using the cleaning mode in the standard containers.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks Henry, but I recently bought the stainless steel container, any great tips for cleaning?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ellen! That's a great idea for future video. You can do the same things in this video with the Stainless Steel container but I will add one more thing. Since mineral deposits build up on stainless steel when making hot liquids or soups if you see any on the inside bottom of your container use Barkeeper's Friend (liquid version) or plain lemon juice. This will instantly remove the mineral deposits. Thanks so much for watching! 😊

    Thank you, what do you do to get rid of a cloudy container? 🙏🏼

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Despite anyone posting videos or "tricks" to get rid of a cloudy container, it's not possible. Don't trust any of those TH-camrs saying differently. I've seen those videos and they are showing a cloudy container, then they reveal a "clean" container that in reality is a brand new container. They are trying to fool viewers to get views and sales. The container is cloudy because of micro-scratches from your ingredients that have a rough texture such grains, seeds, peanuts, nuts, ice, etc. The high speed of the blades push the hard ingredients aggressively against the walls of the container. The cloudiness is permanent. If you have hard water then you have water spots that can be cleaned somewhat, but a cloudy container is non-reversible.

    The self-cleaning function is most important after Vitamixing greasy foods (like nut butters), because otherwise it is impossible to clean the bottoms of the blade with a rag or brush.

    Always love your videos Henry! How do you clean the lid and the gasket?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow really great questions today! The gasket is actually removable. If you can use your fingertips to pull on the rim of the gasket. You'll see that it's not glued on. It may even be helpful to use a toothpick to hold the gasket away from the lid to aid in you fully removing it. Then you can wash the lid and the gasket as normal. Just dunk them both in soapy water. Allow the gasket to dry before putting it back in place since there's no way for it to air dry once you place the gasket back on the lid.
