  • We arrive at St Helena after 11 days and a pretty smooth trip over..
A bazaar island that rises out of the Atlantic and looks completely out of place. Final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte and the island to which the Boer prisoners were banished by the British during the Boer Wars in 1890..A very unique island..

I really enjoy following your crossing and seeing that route again. I sailed my Sadler 32 from Cape Town to Grenada last year. I had to wait for the last wave of covid to bugger off so I departed SA a bit late in Feb and a few days into the trip my family sent me a garmin inreach message that Russia invaded the Ukraine and I got stressed out because I thought if the war escalated the Americans might turn off civilian GPS (Silly, I know they won't unless its really serious). I was also a bit inexperienced and it was my first time way offshore by myself so my trip was a bit more stressful with me spending most of my time awake crawling around the boat looking for problems and triple checking everything instead of taking more time enjoying the sights and experience. I wish I could see that deep blue water around St Helena again. Most people never get to see water that blue or a 360 degree horizon. It would be nice to see you guys arriving in Fernando and later on the passage in the current with the NE on the beam. Fair winds have a safe rest of the trip!

So glad you enjoyed it. Yes when new at it it can be stressful but this is one of the easiest crossings at that time so sorry you didnt find more relaxation and enjoyment. I absolutely love the ocean and its mistery and solitude. The beauty of night sails and the stars.. Hopefully next time will be easier and more relaxing.. Thks!!

Beautiful vid! Would love to hear you and Syd’s opinion on what the must haves and have nots are for the crossing… if there’s any mods to the options selected on the boat.

Did you do a resupply at St Helena? Food and fuel?
It's incredible that you can be in the middle of the Atlantic and be uploading these videos using Starlink. I heard the Starlink dish draws up to 100W. What's the electricity situation like on-board? Do you get enough sun for the solar panels to charge the batteries back up or do you expect to b low on batteries by the end of the trip?

Yip starlinkbis a game changer. Power use is very low and doesnt even affect our power situation. Solar on boat great and integral alternators are umbelievably powerful so 100s
