    You captured the skytrek so beautifully! We did it few years back on a DRZ400 (me) and another Africa twin. Those last hills was rocky! The rider panicked but the DRZ400 just bounced itself all the way to the top! Thanks for the video it’s like living the memory again!

    Brent, what a stunning episode. Your craft continues to sore. I was absolutely stunned by the colour on this. The story telling is Oscar worthy Mate! I can't imaging the time you spent in the editing room on this one. Thanks as always, you have gone above and way beyond. Cheers from Canada.

    Fantastic video mate, love the way you have executed it. I first went to the Flinders back in 97, on a CBR1000 no less, and have been back many times since though always by car, Michelle was right! With family now it's hard to make big plans but I hope to get my ADV bike there with some mates one time and see it how you and your mates have.

      Glad you enjoyed HD's stacks on the GS. I didn't show it in the video, but on some of the really steep hills he went back down them and rode them twice because he was having so much fun. He's pretty good at throwing that big bike around.... Skytrek is not really "GS terrain".

    • @feralbeemers
      @feralbeemers ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was a tongue in cheek comment as i failed Skytrek on my GS, took the chicken track after two attempts at that first climb.
      My partner riders Nev n Mike succeeded on their GS and said “never again!”
      Heres my / our effort.
      th-cam.com/video/wjG3QxKFW0k/w-d-xo.html
      Looking forward to Mount Gill which is a real highlight. HD will have found it a doddle I am sure.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@feralbeemers Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to be on a big bike doing Skytrek. I found it challenging enough on my 701 and that is 100kg lighter. Of course HD makes it look pretty easy, but he's a freak on the GS. We all loved Mt Gill, and while it was technical, I call it "fun technical" compared to Skytrek that is tough technical.

      @brentbat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Welcome to the channel.
      I've used some fairly simple mapping applications in the past, buy now I'm using a pretty complicated one called Geolayers 3. It's super powerful, but has a very steel learning curve. I've invested in learning it because I believe maps are an important part of telling an adventure bike story.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Andy
      Thanks for your comment.... It's hard not to enjoy the amazing Flinders Ranges... stunning landscapes. Regarding the mapping software, I used a program called Geolayers 3. It's incredibly powerful mapping software, but it's not for everyone. You really need to know Adobe After Effects (which I didn't) but I was prepared to go up the learning curve (because I do enjoy learning new things). The reason I invested the time to learn it was that I believe maps and terrain are a really important part of Adventure Riding and telling the story... and I also love maps.. so essentially I'm a map tragic :-)

    • @MrAndyballard
      @MrAndyballard ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brentbat Thanks for your reply Brent, I lived in WA for nearly 10 years and rode a trail bike in the Perth hills and hope to (one day) return and ride more of Aus. Flinders range is on my radar for sure. I thought it might have something to do with After Effects, one piece of software that I've kept at arms length as it looks so intimidating to use! I'm a map tragic too... except we call em map anoraks over here. I will watch the rest of this series, I'm enjoying it hugely... and look forward to one day riding more of the wide brown land.

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrAndyballard Yeah, After Effects is a learning curve in it's own right... Geolayers just adds more on top of that :-). It's great when you start exploring more of Aus on a bike again. I gave up motorcycling for about 20 years while my kids were small, but it is so nice to get back into it.
